“Do you like diamonds or do you prefer silver, Jenna?”

Carl asked the moment I walked into his office for the day’s work.

He was standing by the large glass wall as he stared into the city and I sighed as I watched his broad back while he sipped something from a cup, possibly tea or coffee.

Today he had on a navy blue shirt with the sleeves folded up to his elbows and tucked in loose grey trousers.

“It depends,” I answered and he finally turned and I sighed again at how breathtaking he was.

Coming to his desk, he dropped the cup, pulled the first drawer and took out a little box before gesturing for me to come closer.

I gave a curious expression as I got closer and he handed me the box.

When I took it and opened it, a silly smile graced my lips.

Why?

Because it was a diamond ring.

Without delay, I took it out and wore it on my ring finger before checking it out from every angle as I beamed in delight.

“While we will be polishing our contract, I want you to begin stepping into the role of my fiancée.

I want the board members to think it is real and it goes for my father.

I am sure he must have prepared someone for me to marry, so you need to outbeat that person in looks, charm, presence and wealth.” He seriously said as he walked around the desk and came to stand before me.

“So are you agreeing to me using my wealth?” I gingerly asked as I gave him a sly look.

He gave an irritated look before saying, “You will use my wealth.

But when questioned, you simply say you come from a rich family.

Besides, if you are so wealthy then your family must be well known.”

At that, I smiled and nodded because it was partially true.

I didn’t come from a rich home, it was the riches my sisters and I have gathered over the centuries that we have been using to do as we please.

“Yes, I am from a rich home but we don’t flaunt our wealth.

We have what they call quiet wealth,” I discreetly said and he narrowed his gaze on me.

“And your parents?”

“Dead and gone,” I swiftly answered.

“Siblings?”

“I am a triplet, though the first of them.” I revealed and his eyes lit up in great surprise.

“Do they look exactly like you?” He went on to ask.

“In facial looks, partially.

Bodily, yes, but we have distinct hair and eye colors.” I clarified and he nodded in understanding.

“Any other siblings?” He further asked and I shook my head.

“What about you?” I asked back.

“Two siblings.

Male and female,” he gave a simple answer like he didn’t want to go into much details.

“Later this morning, Levi and I will head over for a business meeting and you will be tagging along as my PA…and my fiancée,” he reluctantly added the last part and I could tell it was killing him.

But who cares.

“So this means I can openly say I am your fiancée if anyone asks, right?” I asked for clarity and he gritted his teeth and gave a short nod before walking back to his chair behind the desk.

When I was about to head over to the corner where my little desk was, a knock came at the door.

“Come in,” Carl permitted and in came Lily.

She had a distraught look and I could tell it was serious.

“Beatrice has taken an impromptu leave of absence,” she revealed.

“Reason?” Carl asked with a deep frown.

“She has a serious acne outbreak all over her face.”

The moment those words left Lily’s mouth, my eyes lit up in happiness and it was then I realized who they were talking about.

So that is her name.

“Beatrice,” I whispered it to myself and smiled evilly as I busied myself, until-

“What’s with the look, Jenna?”

At the call of my name, I looked up and realized that Carl was openly observing me with a suspicious expression.

“Oh, it’s nothing.

I simply-”

“Lily love, please leave us for a moment.

Let someone handle the new interns while Beatrice is absent.” He instructed her while his eyes stayed on me and I gulped in dread.

Did he catch on?

Lily left us and the moment the door closed, he began speaking.

“I heard what you said to Beatrice when you pinned her against the wall of the elevator yesterday.

Was it your doing?”

At his question, I didn’t hesitate to answer.

“Maybe,” I answered.

“Whatever you are, I want you to steer clear from Levi.

Don’t use whatever it is you used on Beatrice or things won’t end well between us,” he warned and I gulped because I did just that.

“I won’t,” I gave him my word.

“And don’t try using it on me,” he added.

“It doesn’t work on you.” I revealed and he smiled.

“Good to know.” He said and went back to what he was doing, leaving me wide eyed.

Wasn’t he scared?

Damn!

Kudos to my instincts for bringing me to him.

“I want her back to work by tomorrow.” He absently said and I snapped out of my thoughts and frowned at him.

“But sh-”

“She gave an awful remark your ego couldn’t handle,” he blatantly said, leaving me bitter and wide eyed.

When I parted my lips to retaliate I suddenly closed them back and furiously glared at him while he worked on some papers without bothering with me.

I began to mimic his words while putting up an irritated face and he instantly looked at me and I quickly went back to being normal and putting on an innocent expression.

“You are never discreet,” he said exhaustedly.

“I don’t understand.” I feigned ignorance and he gave a light chuckle and shook his head before resuming what he was doing.

A call came into his personal phone and he answered it but the next words he said after “Hello” was, “We will be out shortly.”

I narrowed my eyes when I suspected one person…Levi.

I couldn’t still get used to the chemistry going between them but I have decided not to care.

When he ended the call, he got up from his office chair and said, “Levi is here.

It is time to head out.”

**************††††*************

I was made to sit in the front with the driver while they sat behind…together.

From time to time I would look at the rearview mirror to see what they were doing and my mood soured greatly when I saw them holding hands and whispering nothingness to each other while smiling brightly. This chapter was taken from novelping.com without permission.

Levi looked more radiant and when he mistakenly looked at the rearview mirror and found me looking at him, he popped his tongue out to me and eyed me in distaste.

I gasped and turned around to face him as I blurted out, “No you did not just do that.”

But he feigned ignorance and said, “What are you referring to, Ms Jenna?

Or are you just looking for means to join in on our conversation.” He rubbed it in my face and I scoffed and looked away briefly before looking at Carl who was now busy with his phone but a subtle smile played on his lips.

He was clearly enjoying this bantering between Levi and I.

“For this round you won with one while I got a zero.

Await my comeback.” I warned Levi and faced forward while boiling in annoyance.

**************††††*************

When we arrived at our location and stepped out of the car, Carl and Levi stepped forward while I walked behind them since it was appropriate that way.

I was still a PA after all.

Yet I couldn’t stop boring holes into Levi’s back with my eyes and as if sensing my gaze on him, he looked over his shoulder and gave me a wicked smile.

‘How annoying,’ I nearly scoffed out loud.

When we got inside the building, a few businessmen were already waiting and the moment they sighted us, they approached Carl and Levi and welcomed them properly before looking at me in confusion.

Until-

“Meet my PA, Jenna Hart, who is also my fiancée.”

The moment Carl introduced me, my eyes went incredibly wide and I looked at Levi and saw how affected he was by it but tried to put on a calm face.

When his eyes met mine, I wiggled my eyebrows at him before facing the people I was introduced to.

“Your fiancée?

Oh my, and she is such a beauty.

It is such an honor to meet with you, Jenna Hart.” One of them, who was moderately tall like Carl, greeted me.

Levi was taller than Carl but that didn’t deter Carl from standing out.

I shook hands with him and beamed brightly while saying, “Likewise and thank you.”

As if that was not all, one of them gave Carl a pat on the back and said, “You’re indeed a lucky man with keen eyes.”

And out of habit my eyes looked in Levi’s direction and I saw how his Adam apple bobbed up and down while he struggled to keep an indifferent look.

He could sense my gaze on him but refused to look at me.

As we all took the elevator upstairs and got to the meeting room, I was offered a seat beside Carl while Levi sat opposite Carl.

When the meeting started, Levi couldn’t stop staring at me and as if to rub it in his face, I would lean in from time to time and whisper something into Carl’s ear regarding something said and he would nod or give me an instruction.

When the meeting came to an end and we headed out, Carl was suddenly called back while Levi and I waited by the car for him.

“I get a two and you a zero,” I proudly dropped the points and he scoffed.

“You’re just a cover.

What’s so fun about that?” He mocked me.

“Don’t underestimate the power of a cover, Mr Levi,” I calmly said as we stood side by side without bothering to look at each other.

And when Carl was about to step out, Levi leaned in to me and whispered these words, “When you both get married and start living under the same roof be prepared to hear us do it all night and all day.”

My eyes hardened and my hands turned to fists as I watched how Carl walked out with so much aura and charm that made my mouth water.

Why do you have to be gay?

And since I had taken his stuff, especially his business phone, a call came in and the moment I saw it, I answered because the caller ID read, ‘FATHER.’

“Hello sir.”

“Hello, please who am I speaking with?”

As Carl looked in my direction with a frown on seeing that I was speaking on his phone, I took that to my advantage.

“This is Jenna Hart, sir, I am Carl’s fiancée.”

Let the drama BEGIN!
