“Tsk, I can’t even go shopping in peace.

These damn stinky octopuses,” Rimuru said with a look of pure disgust, not forgetting to glance at the massive member of the Deep Sea Folk whose upper body had been obliterated by a single punch from Saitama.

Walking beside him, Saitama was using a scrap of cloth he’d just torn off the Deep Sea Folk to wipe the dark blue blood from his red gloves.Full novel: Rimuru: I Was Chosen by Aha Instead of Veldora — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Once finished, he tossed the stained cloth onto the ground and walked away with Rimuru.

The surrounding citizens were all whispering among themselves.

‘Is that guy actually a hero?

He’s only B-Class, and he really doesn’t look the part.’ As they talked, the conversation suddenly shifted from Saitama to Rimuru.

“But that little girl following him is so pretty.

Is she a star?

Why haven’t I ever seen her before?

And why is she with that perverted-looking bald guy?

Is she being threatened?

No, we have to save that little girl!” Although the actual comments were much more complicated than that, they followed the same general sentiment.

Several people even pulled out their phones immediately after speaking to call the police, asking the officers to help catch the big bald guy.

But before the calls could be placed, someone sensible suddenly suggested, “What if they’re just friends?” Hearing this, the crowd froze, unsure of what to do.

Ultimately, they abandoned the idea of calling the police; after all, there was really no way to determine the relationship between the two.

At the seaside of J-City, many octopus-like humanoid creatures had already come ashore.

They all bore various marine characteristics, such as octopus tentacles, fins, and scales.

But undeniably, they all shared one unique trait: they were ugly!

If you compared these things to the creatures from the House of Evolution, you’d find that…

with the exception of Mosquito Girl, they were all uniquely hideous.

Ahem, getting off track.

Behind them followed a figure wearing a crown who looked somewhat presentable.

He had pale blue-white skin and stood at an estimated height of at least three meters.

In front of him marched many Deep Sea Folk of various colors, each uglier than the last, destroying the city as they went.

Many citizens had already been killed.

Before long, a man wearing a black bodysuit with bandage-like stripes arrived.

Identifying himself as the A-Class Rank 11 hero, Stinger, he began holding back the Deep Sea Folk’s advance single-handedly.

It had to be said, this guy actually had some skill.

Though he was bruised, swollen, and panting heavily, he had killed every member of the Deep Sea Folk except for the Deep Sea King.

Dark blue blood completely coated the shattered road.

Just as Stinger, with his swollen face, held his bamboo-shoot-shaped spear high, the Deep Sea King punched him in the gut, smashing him into a nearby building where he fell unconscious.

“You humans really annoy me,” the Deep Sea King remarked, not even looking at the Stinger he had just sent flying, before walking toward the crowded areas.

“Ugh, what a pain.

Can’t we have one moment of peace?” Rimuru’s small face was full of annoyance.

Finding a secluded spot, she put on her mask and rushed toward the Deep Sea King’s location with Saitama.

The two had originally come to J-City because Rimuru heard the food here was good and dragged Saitama along.

She hadn’t expected to run into something so nauseating.

“Seriously, do those guys at the Hero Association even do anything?

They should have sent a few S-Class heroes.

Why let an A-Class handle this alone?” Rimuru complained to Saitama as they ran side by side.

“Who knows?

But once we get there, things should be settled.

Oh right, Genos is already on his way here,” Saitama shrugged, indicating his own lack of knowledge.

“Genos, huh?

Whatever, don’t mind him.

He can’t beat anyone anyway,” Rimuru joked, picking up her pace.

Seeing this, Saitama hurried to keep up.

The two sprinted through the deserted streets of J-City.

Meanwhile, the citizens had long since gathered in shelters, hoping the heroes would quickly eliminate the Deep Sea King.

However, the citizens didn’t know that Lightning Max had already been taken down by two punches from the Deep Sea King.

If Prisoner hadn’t appeared in time, Lightning Max would have likely broken most of the bones in his body.

Prisoner engaged the Deep Sea King in a turn-based brawl—you punch me, I punch you—while Sonic, who had escaped prison with him, stood aside watching the show.

Having arrived, Rimuru crouched on a rooftop to watch the scene with Saitama.

In truth, Rimuru wasn’t sure exactly what level the Deep Sea King’s strength was at; some said Peak Dragon, others said Demon.

It was quite confusing.

She took this opportunity to observe whether he was truly a Demon or a Dragon level threat.

And of course, she would soon experience it firsthand to gauge his strength through combat.

Looking at the gloomy sky, it was clear it would start raining soon.

“Hey Rimuru, aren’t we going to help?

Can that old guy beat the Deep Sea King?” Saitama asked somewhat helplessly, looking at Rimuru who had taken off her mask to eat snacks.

“Let them fight.

We’ll watch for a bit,” Rimuru swallowed a potato chip and replied casually, continuing to watch the show.

Speaking of that Prisoner, why did he have a butt chin?

His appearance couldn’t help but bring a certain man’s image to Rimuru’s mind: Nendou Riki!

Even his voice seemed to echo in her head.

“Nickname, let’s go get ramen!” Yikes!!

No, no, I can’t look at Prisoner anymore.

Rimuru’s body shuddered slightly as she decisively pushed that image out of her mind and focused her gaze back on the Deep Sea King.

Unsure of what was being said below, Prisoner’s prison uniform suddenly shredded, leaving him completely naked.

Even Saitama silently turned his head away; after all, no one wanted to see a muscular man’s naked body.

The next moment, Prisoner’s bare right foot slammed into the ground, and he soared into the air.

For some reason, a pair of wings appeared behind him, leaving both Saitama and Rimuru stunned.

“Hey, do you know what that is?” Saitama asked with a strange expression, pointing at Prisoner while Rimuru was eating chips.

The chips in Rimuru’s hand fell to the ground.

She wanted to know too—what the hell was that?!!

Receiving no answer, Saitama looked down at her, then back at the fight.

Well, it seemed Rimuru didn’t know either, given her shocked face.

Below, Prisoner’s flurry of punches ended, but the Deep Sea King remained uninjured.

In fact, he countered with a few punches that knocked Prisoner nearly unconscious.

Then, mimicking Prisoner’s movements, he unleashed his own barrage of punches.

When the final blow landed, Prisoner was sent flying, his fate unknown.

At that moment, a drop of rain landed on Saitama’s bald head.

“Huh?

Is it raining?

But I didn’t bring an umbrella,” Saitama muttered to himself, touching the top of his head and finding his glove slightly damp.

“Rimuru, how about we go down and finish that guy off?

It’s fine if I get wet, but you’ll catch a cold,” Saitama said, pulling his cape to shield Rimuru.

“Saitama, have you ever seen a Slime catch a cold?” Rimuru curled her lip in slight disdain, but said nothing more.

She popped the last chip into her mouth and put her mask back on, because the Deep Sea King below, nourished by the rain, had returned to his prime form.

His skin color had changed from light grass green to deep green, and his height had grown from four meters to eight.

While he previously had some human-like facial features, he had now completely transformed into a monster with a fish head and a humanoid body.

With a face full of annoyance from losing track of Sonic, he suddenly saw Rimuru land in front of him.

“Ho?

Another one coming to die?

Well, whatever.

Since I have to kill most of humanity to rule the surface world anyway, I might as well start with you.” He spoke in an extremely arrogant tone, pointing his right index finger at Rimuru.

“I really hate it when people point their fingers at me, so you won’t be needing that finger anymore,” Rimuru’s voice sounded slightly muffled behind her mask.

Hearing Rimuru’s words, the Deep Sea King laughed loudly and extended his left index finger as well, striking a pose as if the twin guns would provide the answer, pointing both index fingers at Rimuru.

“I’m pointing at you, so what?

Kill me?

With your weak hu…” man.

Before the Deep Sea King could finish his sentence, both index fingers were instantly sliced off.

Dark blue blood gushed from the stumps.

“Next time, it’ll be your worthless head.” Rimuru flicked her pink longsword, the tip pointing straight at the ground.

Intense pain flooded the Deep Sea King’s brain in an instant, yet he didn’t make a sound.

This level of pain was not enough to make him let out such a pathetic cry.

The next moment, his severed fingers regrew.

“Human, you’re quite good.

I’ll give you a chance to submit to me!” The Deep Sea King cast aside his contempt; just now, he hadn’t even seen how Rimuru had moved before his fingers were severed.

“Forget it.

I have no interest in being a traitor to humanity.

Instead of that, I’d rather just beat you to death,” Rimuru said, as her pink longsword dissolved back into Magicules and returned to her body.

She flexed her wrists, her expression hidden behind the mask.

However, the disdain she felt for the Deep Sea King was clear in her voice.
