Dominveil has two moons.
Liora is the elder moon, often called the Pale Moon. She is silver-white, steady, and bright enough on clear nights to turn the black stone of Dominveil almost blue. Liora is tied to memory, bloodline, grief, dreams, protection, inheritance, and the parts of the self shaped by what came before.
Veyr is the younger moon, darker and less obedient. He is violet-shadowed, sometimes rimmed in red-gold light, and his path is harder to predict. Veyr is tied to secrets, hunger, desire, rebellion, hidden magic, old wounds, and the parts of the self people try hardest not to name.
Most people know the phase of Liora under which they were born. Fewer know their Veyr phase. In noble houses, both are recorded. In older fae families, they are treated as seriously as bloodline, court allegiance, and birth order. Among witches, blood mages, seers, assassins, and anyone with a talent for making trouble, Veyr’s placement is often considered the more honest moon.

When Liora is full and Veyr is dark, the night is called a Silver Veil. Memory, healing, family magic, truth rites, and protective oaths are believed to strengthen.
When Veyr is full and Liora is dark, the night is called a Blood Veil. Desire magic, blood magic, rebellion, compulsion, forbidden bargains, and dangerous confessions are believed to grow stronger. Most respectable courts publicly disapprove of Blood Veil rites and privately keep records of them.
