Dominveil Calendar

Rise of Starveil

Time in Dominveil does not move quite the way human clocks insist it should.

The year is divided into twelve months, but the months are not equal. Some stretch long and heavy beneath their ruling magic. Others pass quickly, sharp as a held breath. The courts mark the seasons by power as much as weather, and the turning of the year is felt in the blood, the Veil, the tides, and the old stones beneath the city.

Winter begins in Eclipsend and gives way in Emberveil.

Spring begins in Emberveil and softens into Solrest.

Summer begins in Solrest and burns through Infernalight.

Autumn begins in Infernalight and darkens into Eclipsend.

The seasons overlap at their edges. A month may belong to one season by court record and still carry the teeth of another. This is considered normal in Dominveil, where even the calendar has boundary issues.

Frostwane: 38 days

Frostwane is the first full month of the year and the heart of winter’s grip. It is a month of deep cold, locked gates, quiet halls, old promises, and survival that has nothing graceful about it. Frostwane does not begin gently. It begins with the world already frozen and asks what still has the strength to endure.

Gloamrise: 29 days

Gloamrise is a month of twilight and shifting weather, when the cold still holds but the dark begins to loosen its fingers. Dreams sharpen during Gloamrise. Shadows seem longer than they should be, and old secrets have a way of moving closer to the surface. Gloamhearts is observed on Gloamrise 12.

Emberveil: 33 days

Emberveil is a hinge month, where winter and spring meet uneasily. The cold has not released the world, but warmth begins to stir beneath it. Emberveil belongs to banked coals, hidden desire, stubborn survival, and the first dangerous signs of return.

Dawnsbreath: 28 days

Dawnsbreath is short, bright, and often gone too quickly. It is the first clean breath of spring: early blossoms, softened air, new beginnings, and choices made before anyone understands their cost. Many courtship promises begin in Dawnsbreath. Many regrets do too.

Flarebloom: 36 days

Flarebloom is spring in full bloom, lush and beautiful enough to make people careless. Gardens wake, charmwork strengthens, courtships become bolder, and every court pretends beauty has never been used as a weapon. Older fae know better.

Solrest: 31 days

Solrest is the golden hinge between spring and summer. The days grow bright, the air warms, and sacred fire begins to press closer to the skin. Public vows, festivals, rites, and trials are common in Solrest. The Infernal Rites are traditionally held from Solrest 21 through Solrest 23.

Warmbreeze: 34 days

Warmbreeze opens the long body of summer. It is a month of warm nights, restless hearts, late gatherings, open windows, slow heat, and promises made too easily beneath soft air. People often blame Warmbreeze for decisions they absolutely made themselves.

Infernalight: 45 days

Infernalight is the longest month of the Dominveil year and the burning height of summer. It is a month of fire, pride, power, bloodline, celebration, pressure, and magic that refuses to stay quiet. The heat of Infernalight is not only weather. It is temper. It is hunger. It is inheritance waking under the skin. Mira and Cassie’s shared birthday falls on Infernalight 8.

Baretree: 27 days

Baretree is short and sharp, the first true turn toward autumn. Leaves begin to fall. Harvests are counted. Debts become harder to ignore. Baretree is the month when summer’s choices start demanding answers.

Duskrun: 31 days

Duskrun is the shadowed heart of autumn. It belongs to masks, hunts, old roads, quiet bargains, locked rooms, and things best not followed after dark. Dusk magic feels stronger in Duskrun, or perhaps people are simply more willing to admit they are afraid.

Veilcrest: 40 days

Veilcrest is long, strange, and rarely trusted. The Veil thins during this month. Spirits linger more easily, dreams become crowded, old magic misbehaves, and doors sometimes feel less certain than doors should. Even people who laugh at superstition tend to avoid mirrors after midnight in Veilcrest.

Eclipsend: 31 days

Eclipsend closes the year and carries autumn into winter. It is a month of longest nights, last rites, remembrance, old debts, winter fires, and endings that do not always stay ended. Lumenfeast is celebrated on Eclipsend 30, the final day of the year, when candles are lit against the dark and the old year is released before Frostwane begins again.
