Chapter 23-The Devil Sleeps.

Rise Of The Godly Manipulators.

Serena looked at her son, the two gazing at each other, the eyes of Lex focused as his face was a bit pale from the energy he was forced to use, not much of it was left, and until he can go to that place, using more of his powers would only lessen the time he has left.

"Son, you won't be disgusted with me?"

Serena asked with a voice of weakness to which Lex replied, shaking his head.

"You are my mother, there is nothing about you I can ever come to hate."

His words made Serena relax, though the worry still lay. The shock of everything that happened now was still present in her heart, everything wasn't calm yet, and even now she is confused, but Serena doesn't want to let go of it all. Worrying anymore would be useless. What had happened had happened, nothing can be changed now.

'My heart no longer feels heavy, while my mind feels a bit refreshed.'

She thought, just moments ago she had been close to killing her own son from her madness, yet ironically it was her own son indeed that had pulled her away from that darkness, he giving her a new lease on life. Yet the fear lay, because no longer could Serena feel the obsession she had for her husband.

Instead of that person, now only the images of her son fill her mind, and she fears what she might do in the future, and yet she yearns for a happy future with her son, one where she wouldn't have to run from her family, one where she would be there for her children, and now perhaps she couldn't bring herself to make the same mistakes she made in the past.

'Yes, I must grow, I can't be stuck in the past anymore, not when I have so much to care for.'

With this thought, Serena pulled Lex into a deep hug. The emotional pain hasn't left Serena and she is sure the regrets and guilt of what she almost did would haunt her forever. That pain of almost taking the one life that has brought the greatest happiness to her would always exist, something which she would have to live with, and something she will live with.

"Just how did I get so lucky..."

Serena whispered into the ears of Lex, who hugged her back, his face still very pale and his mind muddled, the pain of using his powers hitting him, his soul not matching toward his body, affecting him as a whole. Yet he held himself for now. Now wasn't the time at all as he raised his head from his mother's hug and shouted.

"Mom! Kaelum and Sandra, they are still fighting!"

His loud voice hinting at his mother, whose eyes widened, thus holding Lex close to her, the two of them moved out of the room, walking through the hallway and soon appearing at the luxurious room, his eyes following the rapid breaths outside as the two of them reached outside, the sight of blood filling their gazes.

'Looks like it was worse than I thought.'

The sight in front of them was quite the spectacle, both Sandra and Kaelum filled with blood, some of theirs and some from each other, the two of them still facing each other with a lot of hit marks all around the walls and ceiling.

Broken debris filled the places, with blood splattered at parts, the raging powers of the two of them filling the place as suddenly Serena shouted out.

"Stop it, both of you!"

Her authoritative voice filled the place, and the two that were facing each other turned to them. Lex focused on them, his eyes flashed for a moment as he gazed at Sandra.

'Her talents will be very helpful, I need to get her parts done soon too.'

His true thoughts hidden, and he couldn't even think for long as the pain hitting his body finally got large. Sandra, gazing at the arriving scene, widened her eyes, her master with her appearance all bad, the redness in her eyes beyond control, while the hurt Lex could be seen alone, and before anyone could say anything, Lex fell to the floor.

"Lex!"

"Young master!"

"Young master!"

The three voices calling at him being the last things he heard as his mind went blank.

'Guess I'll rest up a bit.'

With those final thoughts, Lex fell unconscious, thus throwing the entire manor and the family into chaos, one that took some time to close down.

....

'Uff... that's some weight.'

Lex thought as his mind slowly started to awaken, a distinct smell filling his nose, a mix of aromas he was very familiar with, along with the smell of the hospital. His eyelids fluttered as he opened his eyes, his first scene being a very white ceiling, while he felt weight on either side of his body.

'Guess I lost consciousness.'

Azrail thought as he felt the light beeping around him, the hospital machines making their sounds while his eyes soon caught the two bodies pressed against him, they being his sisters, Lily and Rose, the two of them sleeping, clutching his sleeves as he lay on the bed, their hands and bodies glued to him as he slept on the bed.

"Argh!"

A voice of pain sounded out from Lex, and the moment it did, the other one that had fallen asleep in the hospital room woke up, her eyes taking some time to get used to before Serena jumped onto the bed as she called out.

"Lex!"

Her voice filled with immense relief and happiness as she called out to him, her eyes filling with little tears as she looked at Lex, the woman looking very different from her normal neat appearances.

'Looks like she went through hell.'

Her eyes were dark and weary, her lips looked red and swollen from biting her own lips, her hair was all over the place, yet even then the extreme beauty of his mother still shined with an added touch of the wildness from the fear and anxiety that she had gone through.

"Mom...?"

Lex called out, to which, wiping her tears and finally giving a sad smile, Serena came close, her hand patting Lex's head as she spoke.

"What, son?"

"What happened?"

Lex asked, trying to get an idea of the things that happened after he went dark.

"Nothing happened, sweetie, it's just you fell unconscious, you are fine now."

As she said this, Serena kept patting Lex's head, who was looking through the place, and soon it didn't take long for the two girls by his side to wake up from their sleep, and after that, it didn't take seconds after which they clutched onto him, crying, seeking his love. Lex, with a smile, started to talk with his sisters.

Soon after that, it didn't take long for Serena to join in on the talks. She was filled with guilt as she did so and behaved around Lex as if he would break with a touch. Since he can't do anything about that right now, Lex chose to take his time with his mother and slowly lead everything.

Thus, Lex soon went back to his sleep, this time being hugged by his sisters and his mother. To anyone from the outside, this would look like a very heartwarming scene, and a heartwarming scene it was to Sandra and the rest that entered the room later. Too bad they didn't know that the devil slept among them.
