Time seemingly came to a grinding halt as the two, both mother and son, hugged each other, the love between the two ever-present as Serena kept wiping away the tears at the end of her eyes, while Lex sat there on the ground with his mother hugging her tight. To any, it would be a beautiful situation, well if it weren't for the dangerous thoughts running in Lex's head.
"Sniff….sniff….your mother is so happy, so so happy…..!!" Serena kept saying as she kept plastering several kisses all over her son's face. Ever since young, she could see that her son has a mind much more mature and concerted than others. It only seemed to have bloomed more when Logan died, the little boy seemingly coming out of his cocoon to help and love for his family, he being the bond holding everyone together.
From then on, Lex's mind only seemed to bloom, he having the great sense of business, and infinite charisma to lead people, along with a mind that is now being celebrated as one of the greatest of this century. Even above that, as a mother, having seen Lex, Serena knows better than anyone else how mature and understanding Lex is; his ability to see through certain situations that even adults could miss being a gift.
And thus, Serena understood better than anyone that the forgiveness and understanding coming from Lex is as pure as it could be, the understanding being filled with his love for her. With his gifts, Lex understands better than many the sins of what she had done, and he had all the right to hate her too. But his love for her matches such heights that it couldn't bear to put it in any light of darkness, and that meant all the much more to her.
Thus, Lex, hugging his mother, guiding her to the path he wants, started to mutter in her embrace.
"Mother, forget about father, forget about him, he has only now brought you sadness!"
To his caring and loving words, Serena smiled, her heart blooming like never before as she ruffled Lex's hair and spoke.
"It's not that simple, my little pie. My mind needs this, I need this, else your mother won't function..."
A sad smile came over Serena's face at those words. It's not like she didn't try to change, but it never came to be. Medicine, focus, hypnosis, she had marched up on many things to help her, but it was of no use. It would seem her case of Amoreligia was much more severe than others could understand, thus leading to no way out for Serena. She needs the object of her obsession to move forwards.
'Looks like it's all going well.'
With such thoughts, Lex raised his head, his face coming to meet his mother's as he used his brother's hands to hold his mother's face in place. With that, by keeping one of the most serious faces he could, Lex shouted out.
"Then make it me!"
His sudden shout making Serena surprised as she, with a little bit of trepidation in her heart, asked.
"Make you what, dear?"
She trying to deny the desire in her son's voice, the main reason being the fear filling her heart from it. Now no matter what Serena into the future would never be able to bear the disgusted look of her son, even above that, she wouldn't be able to bear it if she could somehow come to hurt her son due to this issue of hers. Just now she had almost lost her son by her own hands because she couldn't control herself, and she can't have that happening ever again.
But Lex seemed to be dead set on it as his hold on his mother's face hardened as he spoke.
"Me, mother, make me the target of your obsession! Let go of dad! I will be here! I will bear every burden and sadness that you have to! I just want you to be happy!"
Serena smiled at her son's enthusiasm, but her smile soon turned sad as she raising her right hand started to ruffle through his cheeks as she spoke.
"I can't do that, son. I just can't. I can't hold you down just like I did to your father. I made a mistake there and I don't want to ever hurt you again from my own madness. It's something I have to deal with on my own."
To her words, Lex heavily shook his head, his childlike features burning with a hint of powering thoughts as he spoke with conviction.
"No, mother! Your burdens are not just your own! It's also mine! I want to do this, I want to let you go free from the past that's holding you! If you do this, you can finally walk forward without minding about the past! So please! Let me help you!"
The words of Lex only digging deeper into her heart, the desire and conviction of his, making her heart waver for a second. But she tried to hold strong as Serena spoke, shaking her head, trying to get her head from the grip of her son.
"I just can't do it! Do you understand what that would entail?! You would be sucked into this madness of mine! To this terrifying and disgusting obsession of mine! I don't want that! You just can't understand it!"
To these words, Lex held his mother's face even tighter, forcing her to look at him, she being unable to take her eyes off as she met those dark, dangerous black orbs of her son's, those eyes seemingly sucking her in as Lex muttered.
"Mother, I am not a fool, I know far better, didn't I just see it now? Didn't I just understand the situation now?! Even with that, I want it, mother, I want to be your greatest focus and love, this is also my desire too!"
At the end of Lex's words, a deep and love-filled call left Lex's mouth, his eyes seemingly turning to look like orbs of the abyss, seemingly pulling Serena into it, unknowingly to her, Lex using a bit of his soul power he can access, pushing through the pain racking him as he subtly applied his soul pressure on his mother, seemingly forming a terrifying feel of love around her that her mind slowly succumbed to it.
Thus, slowly but surely, Serena's eyes started to fall into a certain daze as Lex, with a smirk, asked his mother.
"Tell me, will you take me as your only and everlasting point of obsession?"
"Yes..."
Serena muttered in a daze, the imprint on her soul getting heavier and heavier as Lex, with a smile, asked.
"So who am I to you?"
"Everything..."
With that, Lex let go of the pressure from his soul, the focus coming back to Serena's eyes, as the memory of what happened till now flowed deeply into her, the brand already etched everywhere deep within, even her soul. So for her now, there was no way of escape, thus the face of Serena became pale with a hint of blush to it.
'What...what did I just do?'
Serena could feel it in her mind, her obsession with Logan, the one for years had gone away, the single point of cause for her Amoreligia that she had set years ago vanishing as if it never existed before, replacing that being the existence of her son Lex. And the more horrifying thing being the fact that Serena could tell her obsession of her son, this new one exceeds the one she held for Logan.
