The Apostle didn’t move. He didn’t even raise his hands. Yet, the moment Kai lunged, the very air in the sewer tunnel turned into a solid wall. Kai’s golden blade, Sunbringer, struck the invisible barrier with a sound like a gong, sending a vibration through his arms that threatened to shatter his bones.

"You still don’t understand, do you?" the Apostle said, his white robes remaining pristine despite the filth of the sewers. "In this world, intent is nothing. Execution is everything. And your execution has already been denied by the Master."

Kai grit his teeth, his feet skidding on the wet stone. "Clara! Now!"

Clara thrust her staff forward. "Silver Storm: Shatter Reality!"

A vortex of silver mana erupted from her staff, not aimed at the Apostle, but at the air around him. She wasn’t trying to hit him; she was trying to disrupt the ’Atmospheric Script’ he was using to hold Kai back. The silver energy clashed with the Apostle’s invisible wall, creating a cacophony of screeching metal.

The barrier flickered.

"Go!" Clara screamed, her face pale from the effort.

Kai didn’t waste a millisecond. He burned another 10 hours of Screen Time to boost his speed.

[Current Screen Time: 153 Hours -> 143 Hours.]

He vanished from the Apostle’s sight, appearing directly behind him. He didn’t swing at the head or the heart. He aimed for the Apostle’s shadow.

"Script Insight: Sever Connection!" Kai roared.

Sunbringer sliced through the dark patch on the floor. The Apostle flinched, a look of genuine surprise crossing his porcelain-like face. For a moment, the heavy pressure in the tunnel vanished. The Apostle stumbled, his connection to the ’Source’ momentarily frayed.

"You... you attacked my narrative anchor?" the Apostle whispered, his voice losing its divine echo.

"I told you," Kai said, his chest heaving. "I’m not fighting you. I’m fighting the way you’re written."

Meanwhile, three floors above them, Leo was a ghost in a world of gold and marble. He had passed through the stone ceiling of the sewer like a whisper through a keyhole. He stood in the ’Vault of Forbidden Lore,’ a room filled with books that seemed to breathe.

His left side was still flickering, but the red shard in his hand was glowing with a steady, guiding light.

"The Ledger..." Leo whispered, his voice sounding like two people talking at once. "Where is it?"

He walked past shelves of glowing tomes. He saw books titled ’The Rise of the First King’ and ’The Fall of the Shadow Empire.’ He saw his own name on a thin, dusty pamphlet in the corner: ’Leo, the Shield who Dies at the Gate.’

He reached out to touch it, but his hand passed right through.

"Not today," Leo said, his eyes hardening.

The red shard pulled his hand toward a pedestal in the center of the room. On it lay a book bound in human skin, its cover blank except for a single, pulsing red dot.

Leo didn’t hesitate. He slammed the red shard onto the cover.

Back in the sewers, the Apostle had recovered. His eyes were no longer bored; they were filled with a cold, murderous light. He raised his hand, and the water in the sewer rose up, turning into hundreds of crystalline spears.

"You have become more than a nuisance, Kai," the Apostle said. "You are a threat to the Master’s vision. I will not wait for the Audience’s approval any longer. Deletion is the only option."

"Kai, get back!" Clara shouted, casting a multi-layered shield.

The water spears flew. They didn’t just hit the shield; they erased it. One by one, the layers of silver mana vanished as if they had never been cast. Clara fell to her knees, blood leaking from her nose.

"Clara!" Kai rushed to her side, but a spear caught him in the thigh, pinning him to the wall.

[Alert: Critical Damage! Narrative Integrity at 15%!]

[Warning: Deletion is imminent.]

"Is that all you’ve got?" Kai spat, coughing up blood. "A few water toys?"

"It is the end of your Chapter," the Apostle said, walking toward him. "Aidan died with dignity. You will die in the mud, forgotten and unwritten."

The Apostle raised his hand for the final blow. A massive spear of pure white light formed above his head, enough to vaporize the entire tunnel.

"Goodbye, Glitch," the Apostle said.

But then, the world stopped.

The white spear froze. The Apostle’s hand stayed mid-air. Even the dripping water in the sewer hung like diamonds in the air.

A voice, deeper and more terrifying than the Apostle’s, echoed through the void.

[System Message: The Architect’s Ledger has been opened.]

[Status: The Script is now ’Editable.’]

Kai looked up, his eyes wide. "Leo... you did it."

Suddenly, the red shard’s energy surged through the entire sector. The Apostle’s white robes began to turn black, covered in the same shifting ink Kai had seen in the mine. The ’Final Apostle’ was being rewritten in real-time.

"What... what is this?" the Apostle screamed, his voice distorting. "Master! Why are you changing me?"

"He’s not changing you," Kai said, pulling the spear out of his leg with a grunt of pain. "We are."

Kai looked at the blue screen. A new option had appeared.

[Command: Rewrite Enemy Role.]

[Cost: 100 Screen Time.]

Kai didn’t even blink. "Do it."

[Current Screen Time: 143 Hours -> 43 Hours.]

The Apostle’s form collapsed. The divine being vanished, replaced by a small, harmless white rabbit sitting in the middle of the sewage. It looked up at Kai with confused, static-grey eyes.

Clara stared at the rabbit, then at Kai. "You... you turned the First Apostle into a rabbit?"

"The Script said the scene needed a ’Small, harmless creature’ to show the Hero’s mercy," Kai said, leaning against the wall. "I just moved the Apostle into that role."

[Audience Reaction: Absolute Chaos! "WHAT?!" / "THIS IS THE BEST TWIST EVER!" / "Is the show broken?"]

[Screen Time Gained: +500 Hours (Legendary Plot Twist Bonus)]

Kai felt the surge of energy hit him. His body began to heal, the wound in his leg closing instantly.

[Current Screen Time: 543 Hours.]

"We need to get to Leo," Kai said, helping Clara up. "If he’s opened the Ledger, the Author is going to be here in person any second. And he won’t be coming as a character."

"Then how will he come?" Clara asked, her voice trembling.

"As the end of the world," Kai said.

They began to climb the ladder toward the Library, leaving the confused rabbit behind. The real fight hadn’t even started yet. The Author was finally paying attention, and he was about to bring the hammer down.
