Elena’s Point Of View “I’ll hold you up to that,” he murmured.

Before the last word even left his mouth, his hands gripped my waist with an evolutionary precision that defied the amount of scotch we’d both put away.

He hoisted me up, the fabric of my black silk dress bunching around my thighs as he pulled me clean over his lap.Full novel: Ruined By The Wrong Brother — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

My knees came down on either side of his hips, straddling him completely in the cramped, shadow-drenched booth.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, a small, sober voice reminded me that I didn’t even know his name, but the thought dissolved as quickly as it formed, swallowed by the pounding demand of my own pulse.

I didn’t even have time to catch my breath before his hand tangled into the hair at the base of my skull and dragged me down into him.

The kiss was heavy, deep, and utterly unvarnished.

He didn’t ease into it; his lips parted mine with a rough, demanding pressure that made a low groan catch in the back of my throat.

The taste of the dark cherry scotch burst across my tongue, mixed with something underneath it… something distinctly him.

It was a rich, heavy flavor that felt terrifyingly, impossibly familiar.

A strange prickle of electricity hit the back of my neck, a bizarre sensation that I had done this before, that my mouth somehow knew the exact weight of his lips.

The feeling unsettled me more than the kiss itself, a phantom memory with no origin, no name, no face I could place.

It nagged at the edge of my thoughts even as my body surged forward, hungry and unthinking, chasing something I couldn’t name.

But that was ridiculous.

He was a stranger.

A nameless prick in a charcoal suit, and yet my body responded to him as though it had been waiting years for exactly this.

Maybe it had.

Maybe five years of quiet disappointment had left me primed for the first hand that reached for me like it meant it.

My fingers dug into his shoulders, feeling the hard muscle beneath the wool as he tilted my head further back, deepening the angle.

His tongue slipped past my teeth, tasting me with a slow, systematic hunger that sent a sudden, white-hot ache straight to my core.

The friction of his chest against mine through the thin silk was dizzying, and I found myself chasing it, pressing closer despite every rational thought screaming at me to stop.

My mind, usually so quick to catalogue consequences, went suddenly and blessedly blank.

He pulled back just an inch, his breath coming in short, hot rasps against my wet lips.

“Still think my looks are chopped, princess?” “Shut up,” I breathed, my hands sliding up to cup the rough, warm skin of his jaw.

“Just…

shut up.” He let out a low, vibrating chuckle against my mouth before sliding his lips down the column of my throat.

He traced the line of my jaw with his tongue, his teeth grazing the sensitive skin just beneath my ear.

I arched into him, my eyes fluttering shut as his mouth traveled lower, finding the hard, pulsing beat at the base of my neck.

Every nerve in my body seemed to converge on that single point of contact, and I forgot, for one blissful moment, every reason I had to feel guilty.

For one blissful moment, there was no Graham, no five years of careful silence, no version of myself I was supposed to be.

He didn’t just kiss it.

He sucked, the deliberate pressure making me gasp out loud, my fingers clenching into the short hairs at the back of his neck.

“Touch me, stupid,” I whined, the demand slipping out before I could stop it.

The sheer frustration of the last five years, the coldness of Graham’s bed, the sudden, overwhelming heat of this man… it was all blurring together into a desperate, feral need I hadn’t allowed myself to feel in longer than I could remember.

I barely recognized my own voice, thin and pleading, so unlike the composed woman I presented to the world each morning.

He chuckled against my skin, the vibration sending a fresh shiver down my spine.

“Patience, feisty cat.” “I don’t want patience.” I reached down, grabbing his large, heavy hand where it rested idly on my hip.

I forced his fingers down, dragging his palm past the curve of my hip and pressing it flat against my ass, squeezing his hand against myself through the thin fabric of the dress.

The contact made me shudder, a low, desperate sound breaking from my lips, and some distant part of me marveled at my own boldness.

This wasn’t like me.

Or maybe it was exactly like me, the version of myself I’d buried under years of careful, appropriate behavior, smoothed over with polite smiles and dutiful silence.

This was supposed to be an open marriage.

Graham and I had drawn up the rules on expensive stationery, a clinical, sterile arrangement to save appearances.

I shouldn’t feel guilty.

I shouldn’t feel the sudden, heavy weight of a sin in my chest.

And yet there it sat, stubborn and inconvenient, refusing to be reasoned away.

But as the man’s fingers tightened around me, digging into my flesh with a possessive, unyielding grip, I realized it had absolutely nothing to do with Graham.

It wasn’t about the open marriage.

It wasn’t about revenge.

It wasn’t even about proving something to myself, though I’d told myself that lie all night.

It was just about me.

I wanted this.

I wanted him, with an intensity that frightened me more than the stranger’s hands ever could.

The wanting felt bottomless, older than tonight, older than this club, as if it had been waiting patiently for years to finally be let out.

He groaned against my throat, the sound raw and low.

His hand didn’t stay on the outside of the silk for long.

With a sudden, impatient jerk, his large palm slid right under the hem of my bunched-up dress, his calloused fingers making direct contact with the bare skin of my thigh.

I gasped against his ear, my hips twitching involuntarily as his hand traveled higher, searing a trail of pure heat up my skin.

He gripped my bare thigh, his fingers digging into my flesh, grounding me against him.

The contrast between his cool rings and the blazing heat of his palm made my head tilt back completely.

His other hand left the back of my neck and slid down my front, his palm flattening over my stomach before tracing lower, his fingers tangling in the thin lace of my underwear.

“You’re soaking wet, princess,” he whispered, his voice rough, completely stripped of that easy, teasing indifference now.

He pressed two fingers directly against the damp lace, applying a slow, firm pressure that had me crying out, my forehead dropping onto his shoulder as a massive wave of heat crashed through my lower belly.

“Please,” I whimpered, riding the friction of his hand, completely unbothered by how desperate I sounded.

I needed him inside me.

The empty, hollow ache that had been growing for years was suddenly concentrated into the space between my thighs, throbbing violently against his fingers.

He stroked me through the lace, a deliberate, torturous rhythm that had my toes curling inside my heels.

Every touch was heavy, possessive, and entirely explicit.

He knew exactly what he was doing, watching my face through the shadows as my chest heaved, taking his time until I was trembling against him, completely at his mercy.

There was something almost cruel in his patience, as though he understood precisely how close he could bring me without letting go, and took a quiet, private satisfaction in the control.

Just as the heat in the booth reached a suffocating, breaking point… just when I thought he was going to tear the lace aside and finish it, the man abruptly stopped.

His hand slid out from under my dress, leaving the skin there tingling and freezing in the sudden draft.

His fingers left my center, the abrupt loss of friction making me let out a small, frustrated whine.

He caught my chin between his thumb and forefinger, rubbing the bone gently as he forced me to look at him.

His smoke-colored eyes were dark, almost black in the dim light, his chest rising and falling in heavy, jagged movements that mirrored my own.

For a moment, something unreadable flickered across his expression, gone before I could name it.

He planted a slow, lingering kiss right on the center of my swollen, throbbing lips.

“Don’t worry,” he murmured, his voice a low, rough baritone that seemed to echo in my bones.

“We’ll continue this later.” I frowned, my fingers still hooked onto his jacket for balance as my brain scrambled to process the sudden distance.

My core was aching, a heavy, fluid warmth dripping between my thighs that made every small shift of my body feel like agony.

“Later?

What the hell makes you so sure of that?” His smirk returned, slow and devastatingly arrogant, pulling up the corner of his mouth as he looked down at me.

“You’ll see,” he said.

He leaned up, pressing one last, hard kiss to my mouth that left me completely breathless.

Then, with a smooth, effortless strength, he lifted me off his lap, placing my feet back onto the floorboards of the booth.

He stood up, smoothing the front of his charcoal jacket with a casual, practiced flick of his wrists, as though nothing at all had happened between us, as though he hadn’t just unraveled me completely.

He looked down at me one last time, gave me a slow, wicked wink through the shadows, and slipped past the heavy silk curtain into the corridor.

The curtain swayed in his wake, leaving me completely alone in the quiet booth.

I stood there, my knees shaking, my breath coming in shallow, ragged gasps as the distant thud of the club’s bass drifted back into the space.

My skin was on fire, my lips were burning, and my head was spinning faster than it had when I was downing the scotch.

He had left me completely turned upside down, utterly confused and so damn horny that the cooling moisture between my thighs felt like a physical punishment.

Every small, involuntary twitch of my muscles sent a sharp, agonizing reminder of his fingers straight to my core.

The friction of the thin lace against my swollen, hyper-sensitive skin was driving me crazy, making me want to slide right back onto the leather seat just to find some relief.

I stared blankly at the empty doorway, my hands curling into tight, frustrated fists at my sides, my body vibrating with an unfulfilled, desperate ache.

Somewhere beneath the frustration, a quieter, more troubling thought began to surface: I had no idea who he was, and yet some fractured, hidden part of me was certain I already did.

The certainty settled into my chest like a stone, heavy and unwelcome, refusing to be dismissed alongside everything else I wanted to forget about tonight.

“What the fuck just happened?”
