After leaving Li Lanying’s residence, Chen Ergou pulled out his cell phone.
He intended to call Xia Yuhan, as Chen Ergou planned to continue working with her; naturally, he needed to let her know that he had contracted the barren hills and that the Medicinal Herbs were growing well!
“Hello, is this Mr.
Chen?
Do you need something?”
“Don’t call me Mr.
Chen anymore, it feels so awkward.
You can just call me Ergou!”
Feeling uncomfortable all over as Xia Yuhan once again addressed him as Mr.
Liu on the other end of the phone, Chen Ergou took a deep breath and quickly blurted out!
“Well…
all right then!
Ergou, did you call me for anything specific?”
Hearing her call him Ergou, Chen Ergou chuckled and then continued, “It’s like this, I’ve contracted a piece of barren land around here and planted a large area of Medicinal Herbs.
They are growing well, and I’m wondering if there is an opportunity for us to continue our partnership!”
“Medicinal Herbs?”
After hearing Chen Ergou’s story, Xia Yuhan was instantly interested!
Sensing Xia Yuhan’s interest on the other end, Chen Ergou smiled and said, “Yeah!
I really feel like they’re growing well.
How about I send you a few pictures to have a look now?”
“No need, I trust you!
How about this: I will bring a few experts from our side to your place this afternoon to inspect the site.
If it’s possible, then we can engage in a long-term partnership!”
“Great, I’ll see you this afternoon then!”
After discussing some details, Chen Ergou voluntarily ended the call!
“Xia Yuhan, I really can’t wait to see the look of surprise on your face!”
After hanging up, Chen Ergou muttered to himself and then headed straight home…
After lunch, Chen Ergou and Lin Qiaoqiao took a walk in the village together.
By this time, she had changed out of her previous soaked clothes and had a different kind of allure!
“Brother Ergou, the plums behind the village should be ripe.
Let’s go pick some together!”
“Sure!
We should be able to reach them now!”
When Lin Qiaoqiao mentioned the plums behind the village, Chen Ergou remembered the times when he and Lin Qiaoqiao had gone to pick plums together as children, but they couldn’t because they weren’t tall enough and could only fret!
“Yeah, of course!”
While talking, the two arrived behind the village and saw the huge plum tree!
“We’ve grown taller, and this plum tree has gotten taller too!”
Standing under the tree, Chen Ergou felt a bit frustrated upon realizing that even if he stretched his arms, he still couldn’t reach!
“Brother Ergou, squat down for me!”
“Squat down?”
Though confused, Chen Ergou squat down anyway!
Just as he squatted, Chen Ergou felt Lin Qiaoqiao’s hands on his shoulders and quickly, she climbed onto his neck!
“Hehe, Brother Ergou, this way we can reach them!
Stand up now!”
“Make sure you’re sitting tight then!”
Amidst the conversation, Chen Ergou slowly stood up with his hands gently supporting her thighs…
Rising up, Chen Ergou clearly felt the softness of her buttocks and subconsciously admired it…
“Brother Ergou, what are you thinking about?
Walk forward, there are no plums here!”
“Eh?
Okay!”
And so, Chen Ergou moved forward carefully, while Lin Qiaoqiao, perched on his shoulders, joyfully picked plums.
Meanwhile, neither Chen Ergou nor Lin Qiaoqiao noticed Old Man Zhang standing not too far away!
“Chen Ergou!”
Watching Chen Ergou and Lin Qiaoqiao’s close companionship, Old Man Zhang was filled with loathing!
Jealousy, oh jealousy!
He was truly very jealous!
Because in his view, all of this should have been his!
And now, everything had been brazenly stolen by that scoundrel Chen Ergou!
…
“Wow, you’ve picked so many, can you even eat them all?”
After a while, Chen Ergou set Lin Qiaoqiao down, and only then did he notice she had picked so many plums during that time.
“You should eat too, Auntie and Uncle should eat too!”
While responding, she took out a prepared bag and carefully packed all the plums that had fallen on the ground!
“Yeah, good, once we’re packed, let’s go up the mountain together!
The medicinal herbs on the mountain can make a lot of money!”
Just as Chen Ergou’s words fell, a mocking voice came through:
“Idiot, always daydreaming about getting rich!
Have you ever thought if anyone would really want that trash?”
Hearing this mockery, Chen Ergou turned around and saw Old Man Zhang looking over derisively!
At that moment, many of the villagers chatting nearby were also whispering to each other—in truth, they too had such worries in their hearts!
However, they were genuinely concerned for Chen Ergou, while Old Man Zhang was merely looking forward to the show!
“I…”
Just as Chen Ergou was about to retort sharply, he saw a black sedan appear in his line of sight!
After recognizing it as Xia Yuhan’s car, Chen Ergou didn’t say another word but simply waved his hand to signal that he was over here.
Chen Ergou’s gesture made many people turn their heads curiously, and soon, everyone there saw the brand-new black sedan.
For a moment, everyone couldn’t help but be surprised!
Because they all knew that car was definitely very expensive!
“Is it here for Ergou?”
After the shock, they all looked at Chen Ergou again, and soon, they confirmed their guess because Chen Ergou had already taken the initiative to meet them.
…
“You came quickly!”
After Xia Yuhan stepped out of the car in a light purple, tight-fitting uniform, Chen Ergou spoke up with a smile!
“Not too bad!
Ergou, take us up the mountain!”
Hearing Xia Yuhan mention ‘us,’ Chen Ergou asked curiously, “Us?”
“Yes!”
As Xia Yuhan spoke, three elderly men with snow-white hair walked out of the car!
After one glance, Chen Ergou understood—they must be the medicinal herb experts Xia Yuhan had brought along!
“Follow me!”
After his initial surprise, Chen Ergou quickly led the way!
Chen Ergou was not panicked by the arrival of these experts because he had absolute confidence in the quality of his medicinal herbs!
“Pretending to be something, I want to see how you end up dead!”
Watching Chen Ergou leading them up the mountain, Old Man Zhang let out a cold laugh and followed along!
Out of curiosity, the others hurriedly followed as well…
Soon, everyone arrived at the middle of the mountain…
“This…”
Seeing the green medicinal seedlings covering the mountainside, Xia Yuhan was astounded!
The experts who came with Xia Yuhan were also dumbfounded…
The first to come to his senses, Xia Yuhan glanced at them and said, “Teachers, your trouble is appreciated!”
“Yes!”
With that acknowledgment, they started to crouch down and inspect the medicinal seedlings closely!
“I bet once the inspection is finished, they’ll find these things are worthless!”
Old Man Zhang watched the three men intently examining the plants with a malicious grin on his face!
In his eyes, a person like Chen Ergou didn’t deserve Heaven’s favor, so he was bound to lose everything!
“The results should be out now!”
Seeing the three experts stand up, Old Man Zhang stepped forward with a smirk on his face, pricking up his ears, as he truly didn’t want to miss a single word…
