Chapter 11: Compliment Of A Grand Enforcer

school of battles

"DIE!?" Ohta asked.

Doctor Rock nodded pitifully, "The reason for death is a simple one. Once the first fruit has been consumed. The individual that consumed it must eat all the other six fruits or else, they would in turn suffer the same fate as the victim."

Ohta’s eyes widened. His gaze moved from the doctor to Babatunde and then to Yemisi.

Their eyes confirmed his suspicions.

Doctor Rock turned to Babatunde, "as you know, Lord Babatunde, the victim will now be in our custody. I believe it’s a good opportunity.

The members of the Azure Dragon Demonic cult are obligated by their vows to finish their rituals.

If within that period of time, anything happens to Lady Escobar, then we know he is guilty, but if he becomes a tree in three days, then we know he is innocent.

Either way, the Heaven supreme emperor’s enforcers have nothing to loose."

In Ohta’s head, the logic was a bit flawed, but he just could not deny it. It actually made sense.

The Enforcers has nothing to lose since all they needed to do was monitor Ohta and Sofia.

Babatunde frowned, "you speak gibberish, golem. I’ll do what I..."

"Lord Babatunde," an enforcer rushed over from behind, a tab in hand.

"We just received a report of another death, similar to the exploding victim at the center of Avalon city."

"What?" Babatunde took the tab. A click on it, and a holographic image of the victim appeared in mid air.

This person looked just like the Assaulter that exploded into blood and meat paste in the tree garden.

At least the garment and method of death were the same thing.

Doctor Rock, sensing an opportunity quickly spoke up. "Avalon Center is at least another fifteen kilometers from here. Considering the fact that Mr Ohta has been with us throughout, and I suspect that your mana had this entire place locked down, then he is not the one."

’His mana had the place locked down?’ Ohta thought to himself. Even though he could not sense or use mana like other people could, he remembered hearing of such a technique back in the clan.

It should be a very high level technique that restricts every person in an entire area.

It was at least ranked Mythical.

It was just as Ohta feared. It was a good thing he did not attempt an escape. Babatunde would have sealed his fate as guilty and ripped him to shreds immediately.

No one hated demons more than Enforcers. Grand Enforcers were custodians of that hatred.

"So what do you say, Lord Babatunde?" Doctor Rock added. "Let Mr Ohta go and prove he is innocent. Even if not for himself, at least for his friend, Lady Escobar.

Babatunde’s brows frowned, "friend? Is she your friend?" He asked Ohta.

Ohta was taken back by the sudden label. ’Friend?...of the woman that wanted him dead like five seconds ago?

Are they stupid?’

All eyes were now on him, an invisible pressure of sorts.

Ohta nodded. "Yes, she is my friend." He cracked a difficult smile.

Then he turned to Yemisi.

She nodded.

"Move out, to Avalon’s center." She ordered.

Immediately, the soldiers hid their weapons dematerializing in a sharp light on the spot.

"I have my eyes on you, kid." Babatunde warned before turning. He and Yemisi dematerialized before his eyes.

Just as they had come from seemingly nowhere, they had disappeared too.

’Another Mythical grade Technique.’ Ohta thought to himself.

To have more than one at their disposal, these enforcers must be elites.

Ohta turned to Doctor Rock. "Thank you Doc. For a second there, I thought I was gone."

Doctor Rock nodded, but then his eyes gave a peculiar gleam, "Once the wood petrification process is completed, do you mind giving me your body?"

"What!?" Ohta was taken aback.

"I am sure you know this. Lady Escobar here comes from a really influential family. For this reason, experimentation on the victim is not going to be possible.

But it’s different for you. You have no family backing you. So if you could just will your body to the clinic... cough... specifically to me. I’d accept your thank you graciously." He smiled.

Ohta’s eyes twitched. ’This asshole. He was not supporting me for me. He was doing it so that he could get his hands on my body.’

"Now, if you don’t mind, I’d like some blood samples..." The Doctor’s smile got so wide it reached his ears.

....

A good distance away, Babatunde and Yemisi appeared, strolling together as they approached a luxurious vehicle.

A soldier opened the door and Babatunde got in, Yemisi, following behind him.

Inside the car was quiet. Then Yemisi turned to Babatunde, "my lord, what was that?"

Babatunde turned to her, "so you noticed too."

"It was only for a fraction of a second, but just before the boy bowed. Yes, I did."

Back then, Babatunde had released a bit of his mana pressure. It was not out of malice, but simply to teach the young Ohta a lesson, intimidate him a bit.

After all, Avalon students had a reputation for being arrogant, and in Babatunde’s opinion, Ohta clearly did not understand the presence before him.

However, the mana he released in that fraction of a second should have shattered Ohta’s knees for refusing to bow.

Instead, Ohta did not only resist it, but also fight back.

Even worse, it was not mana the boy used to fight back.

On arriving Babatunde had used his mana to trace Ohta’s body and knew that the boy was effectively mana crippled.

How such a person made it into Avalon was baffling?

Babatunde even thought that a clan must have pulled strings in secret.

But after that brief exchange, Babatunde had been stunned.

Even when the boy finally bowed, Babatunde did not feel good.

Ohta had bowed, but for a slight second, Babatunde felt like he was the one looking up.

He had only ever felt that way about one person.

The Heaven Supreme Emperor.

Babatunde frowned, "Avalon has a good seed."

Yemisi caught those words, shock apparent on her face. ’Lord Babatunde is usually very greedy with praise.

Ohta Waterfell, I’ll take note of you.’

...

Ohta returned to his room. Once again, he fell face first on his bed.

Was this not too much for the first day in high school?

The protagonist of those anime shows about high school used to get bullies and be saved by the school princess on the first day.

But he had been shot at, challenged to a Life and Death Battle, almost killed by an extremist cult group, and now the prime suspect of a murder.

To top it all up, he only had three days to live because of the 7 rainbow Lotus Fruits Of memory.

Ohta rolled over. "Why’s life so tiring?"

Everything that happened today played in his head.

And then he remembered.

"The System."

Ohta willed and several alerts appeared before him.

10 KP from understanding when to bow his head even though he was once a king.

10 KP from accepting Sofia as his friend. Even though he had been put in a tight spot, it still somehow walked well for him.

He now had an additional 20 King points to his initial 20.

A total of 40 KP

To enter the next rank from Pauper, he needed 100KP.

But he did not even know how he was supposed to use...

[You have been granted basic knowledge of the kingly lesson system]

Suddenly, an inflow of knowledge entered his mind.

And Ohta sat upright, speechless. "I have been sleeping on a gold mine for the last sixteen years.

He willed and that same giant pyramid he saw sixteen years ago appeared before his eyes.

Ohta’s consciousness was pulled in.
