After coming to this world, this was the first time that Ohta was seeing inside the pyramid again.
However, it was not as he remembered it. It was as if his gaze was restricted and he was not allowed to see beyond the hut labeled pauper in front of him.
In fact, it felt as if the entire pyramid was the hut.
Within the hut were rooms. Each room had a wooden plaque above it, just like the one on the hut.
The doors to these rooms looked worn out, some cracked. However, they were clearly still functional.
Ohta remembered when he stepped onto the school and the Kingly lesson system had said that all faculties were now opened.
These were those faculties.
Of course, these ’faculties’ did not look so impressive.
Regardless, Ohta opened one and then he walked right in.
Market place.
The holographic progression of an old withered man with tattered clothes, sat at a stall.
The only stall in sight.
"Oh... the arrival of broke man. Go away begger. I have nothing for you here."
Ohta was surprised by the man’s antics. But he still stepped forward. The in flow of information he had gotten from the system had told him that this rude old man was important.
"Erm, good day sir." Ohta greeted, not out of respect, but cautiousness. The pyramid was still very far from understating.
Offending who he was not supposed to would only spell problems for him.
"I said go away, begger." The old man ignored him again, placing a blade of grass in his mouth to chew.
"I’d like to buy." Ohta stated, also wondering what he wanted to buy.
But he knew this information he got from the system had been the right one.
Ohta dug a finger in his pocket and then brought out a gold coin. It was thick, on it was two letters, ’KP’.
It surprised Ohta to see this. But he still placed it on the table.
The old man turned nonchalantly, but when he saw the coin, his eyes brightened.
"Oh, how beautiful." He chuckled, fondness for money apparent in his eyes. "You should have said you were a very important guest."
The old man waved his hand and an assortment of items appeared behind him in a vertical screen.
"Please what do you desire?"
//Begger’s Bowl:
//Price: 20 KP.
A half broken wooden bowl. Liquid placed within and left for 10mins can cure all curses below the 3rd Demon circle.
Can be used by host or gifted//
//Pauper’s Blanket:
//Price: 10 KP
A half woolly blanket of an abandoned ruler. It can block three attacks from Practioner Ranked mana users. And one attack from Adept Ranked Mana users.
Single use, only.
//Cleaner’s Broom:
//price: 30 KP
// A long wooden broom used by a devout Buddhist on the monastery grounds. Demonic circle Eraser.
Two uses only.
There were items like these all around the place.
They were all in terrible shape, but any random one of these items would be a treasure in the outside world.
It was worth noting that till this moment, curses were mostly impossible to get rid of. Mana could not wash it off, only amputate it.
But in here, a random wooden bowl with holes could cure curses? This was incredible.
Ohta quickly dove into his pockets for more KP.
However, he suddenly paused, remembering how much he had.
40 KP was practically nothing. That bowl alone was 20 KP.
And they were a lot more items.
Even if he currently had no use for them, he wanted to have them all.
As one that once enjoyed collecting rare items so much, how could he resist?
One thought.
If this was the market place and it had so much items, then what about the other facilities?
Ohta was not so foolish as to think that this was the only place requiring the use of King Points.
"Erm... forgive me. But not right now." Ohta replied, a mix of excideness and regret in his tone, "I’ll come back for these." He pointed at the objects.
"I promise."
He rushed out of the room. But then remembered something and hurried back—taking the gold coin from the table.
"You wretched thing. I knew you were too good to be true.." the old man cursed from behind.
But Ohta was already gone.
Next he entered a different door.
Library.
Just like the Market place, there was a stall.
Yet again, another old man. This one looked more gentle, almost scholarly, with a welcoming air.
"Ahhh... welcome dear hungry mind. What do you seek? Journeys of pain or love that beat the soul into understanding and enlightenment."
He pointed at an old gathering of scrolls. "...or martial techniques and Soul Refine arts."
Ohta’s eyes brightened, "Wait, you mean I can learn martial techniques here?"
The old man nodded. Ohta walked forward, reaching for one of the scrolls.
Slap.
The old man smacked his hand away. And then he presented a palm meaningfully.
Only now did Ohta realize that even in this place, he needed to use King Points.
This did not only quench his fire, but made him remember his mana restriction.
It was a painful truth Ohta had long accepted. Maybe it was because he came from a world were mana did not exist.
But in this world, mana controlled everything.
Just the Mirage steps he practiced at the second Chapter took a toll on his body.
He had a few others, but that was the nearest thing he had to mana manipulation.
"What use is there in learning any martial technique if I can’t even use mana?" Ohta chuckled felt to himself.
Ohta’s feet was half way turning to the door when the old man stopped him.
"But you have aura. Do you not desire to train it?"
"Huh?"
Ohta froze. "Train it?"
The old man nodded. "As an inheritor of the King’s Aura, you’d be surprised the kind of power you carry."
Ohta’s eyes brightened as he slammed a KP coin on the table. "Give me the best technique you have."
