However, the old dying man pretended not to know that all eyes in the room where on this box.
Even though he was weak and clearly dying, no one dared to rush over and snatch it.
Then again, with the blood path on it, there was nothing anyone could do.
Gently, and slowly the old man took the bronze box.
At his will, a mana circle appeared on its surface, glowed a quick yellow and disappeared.
Then like a mechanical wonder, it opened up, revealing its contents.
Two guns laid side by side. Ohta saw them. He recognized them.
9mm Sig Sauer P226 pistols.
Even little Sofia could feel the room turn heavy at the sight of the weapons.
All eyes followed them.
The Old man turned to little Sofia, "mi flor silvestre, bring your hand."
Little Sofia did as instructed.
A voice interrupted. "Don Pablo..."
A man in his forties with slick black hair, obviously dyed to hide their gray, spoke up.
His eyes showed his disagreement, fists tightened at his side. But even speaking up this far made him regret his decision.
The Dying man turned to him. "You have objection, Parcero?" His eyes narrowed.
The air seemed to pause. Heavy with just the silent authority of the dying man.
The man that had stood out, swallowed.
He took half a step back, but gritted his teeth. "You are giving them to a child? The symbol of our family’s power to a..."
"My famila... Mine." The old dying man corrected.
"Never forget. I am the family."
"But..."
"No buts..."
The man shut his mouth. Even now, knowing fully well that this mafia godfather was about to reach his end, he did not dare go against him.
To even speak so far and not receive punishment was because of his position within the family, and the loyalty he had shown all this years.
A whisper from Don Pablo was enough to end him where he stood.
Don Pablo waved a finger and the man stepped back, still gritting his teeth, but holding back his rage.
All around the room, eyes of those gathered looked to one another.
Some enjoyed tge look on the man’s face, others plotted with their eyes.
Meanwhile Don Pablo signaled for the little Sofia to draw closer.
He whispered in her ears, fingers pointing at those in the room.
"...do you understand, mi flor silvestre?"
Sofia nodded. "Yes, grand papa."
He nodded, "good." Then he took her hand and with a flick of his finger, his mana tore her skin, as it did his."
He placed them on the guns, muttering lowly in Spanish.
Every syllable filled the room with power.
Sofia’s eyes glowed yellow.
The gun glowed a yellow light too—and then it went silent.
As it did, Don Pablo’s hand fell weak to the side.
The life support beeping in the background suddenly went flat.
Little Sofia realized what hapoened. "Grand papa! GRAND PAPA!!" She screamed at the top of her voice.
Panick ensured in the room, as many ran over to check on Don Pablo.
Little Sofia was pushed aside. The room echoing in emergency all around her.
She sat on the ground, tears running down her eyes.
And then the scene changed and Ohta was pulled back to his room.
Doctor Rock had talked about this. Each one of the seven rainbow fruits held a core memory that defined its victim’s identity and person.
The one Ohta had consumed by accident was a foundational memory of Sofia’s.
Ohta frowned. Doctor Rock said that more visions would come.
The more visions that came, the more trouble he was in.
He suddenly felt a stiffness.
Ohta removed his clothes. Sure enough, on his back.
A particular area had began to shade wood brown.
"Damn it." He cursed out loud.
Immediately, he went to take his shower. It was already morning.
It was time for class.
....
Ohta left his room for class. Even before he stepped out of the dorm, his sharp senses caught something.
With a side eye, he peeped at his back.
"I am being watched." He muttered. "It must be the enforcers."
There was no where Babatundecwas going to let him exist without monitoring his every move.
As long as it did not interrupt Ohta’s day, he was okay with it.
They could watch all they want. He was not a member of the Azure demonic cult.
As Ohta walked down the hallway that led to his class, he could hear whispers from the students around him.
"Is that not him? The one they say is a demonic cultist.
"Yes that’s him. I heard he could not even fight fair and tried to sacrifice lady Sofia Escobar."
"Wait. Escobar? Is that why they placed a school bounty on his head?"
Ohta’s ears picked that last part clearly. ’Bounty?’
Unlike the last time, he had actually ensured to read through the rules and regulations of the Avalon High school.
And from what he knew, families were not allowed to interfere with the training of students within the school.
That could only mean one thing. If at all there was a bounty on his head, then the bounty on his head existed outside the school.
Well, it was not like he had plans to leave the school or anything like that.
So he should still be safe inside...
Bump.
Ohta looked up. He might have been absent minded. But not so much that he would walk in another’s path.
Even if not for the environmental awareness he had from his old life, then at least from his training in this one as a ninja of the Iga clan.
He raised his head.
Bullies.
To be precise, it was the same three that he saw yesterday when he first resumed school.
The ones that had bullied Timi.
They had very annoying smiles on their faces.
Ohta could smell trouble.
