Eve Sherman finished handling the hospitalization matters for her grandmother, and the sky was already dark.
Her adoptive mother, Cecilia Morgan, had also rushed back from out of town to take care of things.
Skye Sherman called Eve Sherman outside the ward and said earnestly, “Grandmother has been saying for days that she wants to see her grandson-in-law in person, she just thought it might become a permanent regret.
What are you planning to do?”
Seeing Eve Sherman’s expression wasn’t good, Skye Sherman added, “It’s not an unreasonable request, right?
You’ve been married for two years, isn’t it a bit out of line not to let the family have a look?”
Eve Sherman certainly understood that it was out of line.
But now that the other party is clamoring for a divorce, where could she find a husband?
“Let’s talk about it when Grandmother gets better.”
Eve Sherman sighed faintly, “By the way, I’ve already transferred the medical expenses to you, if there are any issues, you must tell me.
I recently got a promotion, and it’s not convenient to constantly take time off work, so I can only come after hours.”
Skye Sherman frowned, “I’m supposed to take care of her in her old age, you shouldn’t take everything upon yourself.
I won’t spend your money, don’t wear yourself out.
I’ve got this covered with your mother, so don’t worry.”
Eve Sherman was silent for a moment, “And the job with the Shaw Family?
Last time I advised you to resign, did you hold onto that meager salary again?”
Skye Sherman shook his head helplessly, “Although the Shaws aren’t good people, if I resign from there, with no education and no skills at my age, where could I find another job?
Your brother is about to graduate from college, I have to plan for his future, don’t I?”
Eve Sherman knew she couldn’t persuade him and swallowed the words she intended to say.
That night, she insisted on staying at the hospital for the night and returned early the next morning to change clothes and go to work.
Her mind was somewhat dizzy, when she arrived at the company, she felt something was wrong.
Everyone was looking at her with strange eyes, then forming small groups whispering, like they were discussing something.
Eve Sherman felt the atmosphere was strange, so when she got to the office, she decided to make some coffee to perk up.
As soon as she entered the pantry, she heard a few colleagues discussing something.
“I heard from someone who used to work at Sterling that Eve Sherman always had an ambiguous relationship with her former boss, no wonder last time Lucas had to handle Sterling’s matters, while she went out with President Sutton, playing her usual game again.”
“A single man and woman on a business trip, who knows?”
“I think it’s odd she got chosen, her work capability can’t compare to Liam’s.”
“I bet there’s something going on between her and President Sutton, otherwise how could President Sutton take her to a banquet last night?”
Eve Sherman’s eyes darkened as she heavily placed her cup on the counter.
“You’re responsible for spreading rumors!”
They heard it and sneered, “Your affairs at Sterling weren’t a secret, didn’t the wife of Sterling’s general manager hit you before because of your ambiguity with him?
Pretending to be innocent here, if you admitted it openly, we might admire you.”
“Engaging in such things but putting up a façade, does anybody really believe it?”
“Liam said you went on a business trip the day before yesterday, entering and exiting President Sutton’s room at night, and you deny it, you really know how to pretend, now everyone knows!”
Eve Sherman stared straight at them, anger rising in her heart, “Is Liam the one who said it?
Get him here, let me confront him.”
“No need to call, I’m right here.
Eve Sherman, didn’t see it coming, did you?
I have a college friend who works in the hotel you stayed at, he says he saw it with his own eyes.”
Their argument in the pantry attracted many onlookers starting their morning work.
With Liam’s remark, everyone looked at Eve Sherman with eyes tainted with mockery and disdain.
In their eyes, Eve Sherman was already the stray involved in improper acts at night with her boss during a business trip.
She couldn’t clear her name even if she jumped into Ochron.
“What’s going on, what’s going on?”
Lucas came over, only to see a group of people gathered here, rushed in, and found Eve Sherman with a stormy expression arguing with them.
He vaguely understood what was happening and instinctively wanted to pull Eve Sherman away.
Eve Sherman shook off his hand, let out a cold laugh, and stepped closer to Liam, “Give me your friend’s name and contact information.”
Liam sneered, “Why should I tell you?
Who do you think you are?”
“Fine, then let the police ask later.”
Eve Sherman kept a tense face, took out her phone, and directly dialed 110, putting it on speaker.
The crowd was bewildered, “Why are you calling the police?”
Eve Sherman ignored them and, when the call was answered, stared directly at Liam, word by word said, “Hello, I was molested by my boss during a business trip, I have witnesses, five witnesses.”
