“Understood, Team Leader.”

Eve nodded and quickly approached, “Hello, is there anything I can help you with?”

The man turned around at her words, standing at a towering height of six feet, and looked her up and down.Full novel: Secret Marriage: the CEO Husband She’s Never Met — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Are you President Sutton’s assistant, Eve Sherman?”

With just that glance and a single line, Eve could sense his unfriendly intent.

But she had always been a low-profile figure in the company, rarely interacting with the executives apart from President Sutton.

Why would someone suddenly come to confront her like this?

Gathering her composure, she nodded, “I am Eve Sherman.”

“Alright.” The man glanced at his watch, “I’d like to take a few minutes of your time to say a few words.”

Eve turned to look at the secretarial staff, who were already present and were craning their necks to see what was going on.

She politely nodded and pointed to the adjacent lounge, “Please, this way.”

Without another word, the man entered the lounge, and Eve was about to pour him some water, but he waved his hand dismissively, “I’m not here to have tea with Miss Sherman.”

Eve scrutinized him discreetly, pretty much sure that he wasn’t here for work-related matters.

“If you have something to say, go ahead.

I have a lot of work to do soon.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the man let out a cold chuckle, “I am the assistant from The Suttons, here to inform you that as of today, you should apply for resignation.

Don’t let rumors continue to affect President Sutton negatively!”

Upon hearing this, Eve’s brows slowly furrowed.

“You’ve said they are rumors, so why should I resign?”

Her tone was firm, and the man’s expression turned serious.

“Miss Sherman, if you apply for resignation now, the company will give you six months of salary as severance.

If you insist on attempting futile persistence, you might not even receive the six months’ pay, and your exit from the company will be quite disgraceful.”

Eve pressed her lips together and gave a faint smile.

Having navigated through many challenges over the years, she didn’t fear such threats.

“Are you threatening me?

Accusing me with unwarranted charges and then threatening me to leave the company, is that it?”

The man seemed dissatisfied with her choice of words and frowned as he looked at her, “Miss Sherman, this isn’t a threat; it’s a notification.

I have every reason to prevent anything that harms President Sutton, The Suttons, or the company’s reputation.

I advise you that when things can still be handled properly, you should quit while you’re ahead.

That is what you should do.”

“I have acted with integrity and I will not resign just like that.”

With her back straight and unwavering, Eve refused firmly, word by word.

The man was unperturbed, simply placing his business card on the table, “I’ll wait for you until the end of the day.”

After speaking, he turned and left the lounge first.

Holding the business card, Eve stepped out and ran straight into Stellan Sutton.

Stellan’s gaze shifted from the man back to Eve’s face.

His eyes flickered, and without asking anything, he simply said, “Don’t pay attention to him.”

Eve nodded, “I really don’t know what to say to make them believe that I have no ulterior motives regarding you.

I’m truly sorry for affecting you negatively; it’s a failure on my part as an assistant.”

“I will handle this matter.” Stellan glanced at his watch, “First, accompany me to Sterling Factory.”

Going to Sterling Factory?

This wasn’t on today’s agenda.

Moreover, it’s generally not good news when Stellan visits the factory.

She wasn’t unaware of the rumors about how the employee layoff process wasn’t going smoothly.

Before Sterling’s president got ill, the company’s longevity was partly due to its ethical practices, including employing some disabled workers.

If it weren’t for the internal family disputes, and Phillip Langdon’s reckless actions during his interim management, Sterling wouldn’t have declined so quickly.

Now, there was heightened unrest at the factory, with everyone unwilling to leave, guarding the place.

Phillip Langdon’s been fired, and none of the higher-ups wanted to manage this hot potato, leaving the layoff procedure in a mess and chaos.

But these matters are what they should be resolving now.

She thought about it but decided not to say more to Stellan, and followed him downstairs.
