Eve Sherman hadn’t really interacted with her before, and never expected her to be so annoying.
Seeing Skye Sherman frowning without saying a word, she suddenly felt a burst of anger, grabbed Rory Shaw’s wrist, and dragged her outside.
“Ah!
Let go!
Eve Sherman, you’re hurting me!”
Rory Shaw, naturally delicate and frail, was dragged like a little dog out into the corridor by Eve Sherman.
Both angry and annoyed, she glared at her, “Eve Sherman, you lunatic, you want to hit me, right?!”
Eve Sherman fiercely shook off her hand, coldly staring at her, “I said it two years ago, don’t disturb my family again!
If you’ve forgotten, I can help refresh your memory!”
“You!” Rory Shaw used to think she was easy to bully but didn’t expect her to be so fierce.
She took two steps back, rubbed her reddened wrist, and scoffed arrogantly, “A poor driver’s daughter is just rude!
No manners!”
“I can be even less mannered.”
Eve Sherman said, stepping one foot closer, seemingly about to make a move.
Rory Shaw was a head shorter, lowering her momentum, glared at her, then turned angrily and walked away.
As she left, she didn’t forget to turn back and said viciously, “You’ll regret this!”
Eve Sherman didn’t spare her a glance, turned straight back into the ward.
Skye Sherman greeted her with concern, “Eve, why did you argue with her?
Although she’s not the Shaw Family’s biological daughter, she’s really favored there.
If Mrs.
Shaw puts the blame…”
Eve Sherman peeled an apple silently with a fruit knife beside her.
Skye Sherman looked at her uncertainly, “You, you didn’t really hit her, did you?”
Eve Sherman shook her head helplessly, “Dad, no matter how much I dislike her, I wouldn’t actually hit her.
If I even touched a hair on her head, who knows how she’d act out.”
“Ah.” Skye Sherman sighed deeply, “If it wasn’t for my lousy job back then, you wouldn’t have to suffer like this.
Not only did you end up in a second marriage, but you also get bullied by those Shaws!”
Eve Sherman promptly interrupted him, “Don’t say that.”
Skye Sherman fell silent, then his phone rang.
He glanced at the caller ID, his face changed suddenly, and hurried out to answer.
Eve Sherman turned and saw him in the corridor outside, nodding and bowing apologetically, her eyes cold.
Not long after, Skye Sherman came back urgently, “Eve, I have to go deal with something.
Your mom will be over soon.
Tell her I’m off.
You go ahead and do what you need to.
Someone’s here to take care.”
Eve Sherman knew for sure that it was the Shaw family calling him over.
She silently looked at Skye Sherman’s graying temples but said nothing, nodded, and agreed.
Shortly after, Cecilia Morgan came in carrying a thermos, glanced at the empty ward, and frowned.
“Did your dad rush off to be someone else’s servant again?
I told him long ago to switch jobs, otherwise they’d always demand him, sending you back too.”
Eve Sherman quickly dragged over a stool for her, “You know his temperament.
Don’t get angry.
I’ll be here with you for dinner.
I have to clock in at work by two.”
After accompanying Cecilia Morgan for dinner, Eve Sherman watched the clock as she headed to the company.
She had just reached upstairs when Team Leader Claire Lynn pulled her aside.
Pointing to a middle-aged man in a suit and tie not far away, she whispered, “Sherman, someone’s here for you.
They’ve been waiting for ten minutes.”
Eve Sherman glanced at him, she didn’t recognize him.
But seeing his company badge, he was probably here to discuss work.
“Thanks, Team Leader.”
Eve Sherman said while heading over but was held back by Claire Lynn’s worried grip on her wrist.
“Sherman, be careful with your words.
I’ve seen this person before, seems to have been in and out of the boardroom.
He’s probably a big shot behind the scenes, don’t mess this up.”
