Wen Chi anxiously held Jiang Jiming and immediately spoke to the frozen onlookers:

“What are you standing there for?! Hurry up and help him!”

Chi Ye and A-Lou immediately stepped forward to support Jiang Jiming, taking out medicine and cutting the section of Chi Ye’s clothing that had been torn by the injury to tend to the wound.Full novel: Secretly a Half-Zombie in the Apocalypse, the Mad Villain Fell for Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Seeing the bloody wound, almost ten centimeters long, on Jiang Jiming’s back, Wen Chi’s heart tightened.

She didn’t even notice that she was being held in the man’s arms, completely enveloped in his possessive embrace.

Jiang Jiming’s head rested on her neck.

Feng Tu had seen through everything and didn’t intervene, standing aside to watch the Leader’s performance.

Chi Ye had initially felt guilty—after all, he had caused the wound, although it was far less severe than injuries they had suffered on missions before.

But when he glanced to the side and saw their Leader’s expression of enjoyment, he understood everything.

Looking at Sister-in-law’s almost tearful, guilty eyes, he secretly clicked his tongue.Where was the girl-chasing technique? The Leader’s level was absurd.

A fighter jet on a plane!

Moreover, the Leader’s acting skills were truly impressive.

A-Lou had long seen through the Leader’s theatrics—he was just being terrible to make the girl worry for him.

She decided not to expose it. After all, he was their Leader.

The wound was treated quickly. Wen Chi felt that it took less than five minutes. Chi Ye and A-Lou cleaned up the supplies and helped Wen Chi carry Jiang Jiming to sit on the sofa.

But someone stubbornly stayed leaning against him, unwilling to let go.

“Is it done?”

“Mm.”

Chi Ye nodded immediately, then, noticing Jiang Jiming’s gaze toward him, quickly added:

“It’s actually a bit serious. His daily life might be inconvenient, so someone should take care of him.”

“I’ll take care of him.”

Wen Chi spoke up immediately, feeling guilty for causing him to be injured, and after all, he was her plot-related person.

“Then Leader, we’ll leave him in your care for the next few days.”

Chi Ye stepped back, satisfied that his duty was complete.

“Wait.”

“Apologize.”

Jiang Jiming’s voice, weakened by pain yet still magnetic, rang out.

Only then did Chi Ye, A-Lou, and Feng Tu realize and focus on their Leader’s act, forgetting that they had been at fault moments ago for almost hurting the person the Leader cared about.

Chi Ye was the first to kneel before Wen Chi and Jiang Jiming, sincerely repenting his actions.

Anyone the Leader cared for—even a pig with wisdom—would be acknowledged by them.

Of course, the Leader wouldn’t care for a pig.

“Sorry, Sister-in-law. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have attacked you and caused Leader to get hurt.”

“Why don’t you hit me back?”

A-Lou also spoke up:

“Sorry, I was wrong.”

Though she didn’t kneel as dramatically as Chi Ye in front of Jiang Jiming and Wen Chi.

Feng Tu retrieved a heavy bag from his waist and placed it in Wen Chi’s arms.

“Sorry, Sister-in-law. It’s my fault. Take these Crystal Cores as compensation.”

Chi Ye saw Feng Tu’s gesture and silently cursed in his heart:Leader is such a trickster! His mind is craftier than a watermelon seed!

Feng Tu shot Chi Ye a provoking glance.

Wen Chi looked at the bag of Crystal Cores, each radiating the aroma of various delicacies, tempting her.

This was probably every Crystal Core he had collected.

But she couldn’t accept them. She handed the bag back to Feng Tu.

“It’s actually my fault—I scared you earlier, which is why you acted.

So no need to apologize. I’ll just acknowledge the Crystal Cores in my heart; you can take them back yourself.”

Reluctantly, Wen Chi watched the bag of Crystal Cores, emanating all sorts of food scents, being taken away.

Jiang Jiming’s gaze darkened as he observed Wenwen eyeing them hungrily.

“So, Sister-in-law, are you really a Zombie?”

Chi Ye asked earnestly, as Sister-in-law gave off a vibe of being a Zombie yet not quite a Zombie.

A-Lou and Feng Tu also looked over attentively.

Jiang Yi, on the side, was already prepared to risk everything to leave with A-Chi and Dou Dou.

Wen Chi glanced around, then asked the system in her mind. Although she wasn’t planning to follow the plot, she could still make use of the system.

After all, she had finally survived—why should she die again?

“System, can I tell them I’m half-Zombie?”

“Go ahead. It’s an element for future plot development.”

“Okay.”

Wen Chi obediently replied. The system was delighted to have such a compliant host—mission completion seemed imminent.

Not to mention, the main villain’s affection for the host had already reached 80%.

“I’m half-human, half-Zombie, but I don’t eat people. I eat the same food as you.”

“Really? So, Sister-in-law, does that mean Zombies won’t attack you? Or can you control other Zombies?”

Chi Ye asked excitedly.

“Yes. They won’t attack me. I can communicate with Zombies, but only those with intelligence—that is, Zombies with a Crystal Core in their brain.

However, the higher-level Zombies don’t obey me.”

“No way! That’s awesome!”

Chi Ye exclaimed.

Jiang Yi felt relieved, realizing that A-Chi being a Zombie didn’t mean she would kill them.

“How high is your level now?”

A-Lou suddenly asked.

“I just ate a Level 5 Crystal Core. It should be Level 5.”

“No special abilities?”

Wen Chi shook her head.

“Alright, the dishes are ready. Go get them.”

Jiang Jiming didn’t want them pestering Wenwen with questions anymore. When he held her, he had felt her stomach sink slightly, so he spoke.

The three immediately understood and went to the kitchen.

At the dining table,

Wen Chi, who hadn’t eaten Jiang Jiming’s cooking in a long time, nearly buried her head in the bowl.

She ate voraciously. Seeing this, Chi Ye couldn’t help but compete with her. There was no way he could eat less than a girl like Sister-in-law!

Jiang Yi served Dou Dou, glancing at Chi Ye furiously scooping rice. Then he looked at Dou Dou, who was chewing slowly, and shook his head.

Suddenly, Chi Ye felt a chill.

“Leader, your cooking is really delicious!”

Thinking back to the days of instant noodles, self-heating rice, and hotpots—what hard times those had been!

He knew he owed Sister-in-law for letting him enjoy this meal.

So pleasing Sister-in-law = pleasing Leader = getting to eat.

“Um, can I make a suggestion?”

Wen Chi hesitated, then paused her eating and spoke.

Everyone looked at her.

“Can you not call me Sister-in-law? Just call me by my name—Wen Chi.

‘Wen’ like gentle, ‘Chi’ like belated encounter.”

Jiang Jiming’s brows slightly lifted upon hearing Wen Chi. His eyes, deep and cold as a frozen pool, narrowed slightly, looking piercingly serious.

Chi Ye and the others immediately sensed it—Leader was displeased, and didn’t dare speak.

Seeing them silent, Wen Chi asked:

“What’s wrong?”

Jiang Jiming nodded toward them, and they finally agreed.

For now, it was fine not to call her that; sooner or later, they would have to.

Wen Chi belonged only to Jiang Jiming.
