“Then let’s all introduce ourselves.”

“My name is Chi Ye, 21 years old, Level 3 Gold-type ability. I’m glad you’re joining us.”

Chi Ye bared his teeth at Wen Chi and the others. Wen Chi could hardly imagine that this was the same fearsome person the radio described as slicing people into over thirty pieces.Full novel: Secretly a Half-Zombie in the Apocalypse, the Mad Villain Fell for Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“A-Lou, 21 years old, Level 2 Mutated Poison and Wood-type ability. Welcome.”

Wen Chi could tell that A-Lou was sharp and clever—much more so than Chi Ye.

“I’m Feng Tu, 20 years old, Level 2 Wind-type ability. I’m glad you could join our squad.”

Feng Tu glanced at Jiang Jiming, who was sitting next to Wen Chi, not even looking up at them, busy peeling shrimp.

The plate of shrimp had already been piled into a small mountain.

Then Feng Tu noticed that their Leader had given all the peeled shrimp to Wen Chi. Not a single one was left for him!

Hmph! Obsessed with love!

Wen Chi saw the shrimp on the plate and smiled. She wouldn’t let it go to waste, especially since shrimp was her favorite.

Jiang Yi, seeing everyone introduce themselves, spoke:

“My name is Jiang Yi, 21 years old. I just awakened an Ice-type ability a few days ago—I don’t know the level yet.”

“Ice-type?! Just awakened a few days ago? Then you must be Level 0.”

Chi Ye had thought Jiang Yi was just a determined young lady, but she had awakened a strong combat ability.

A-Lou and Feng Tu also looked at her in surprise.

“I’m Dou Dou, seven years old, Fire-type ability. I just awakened it too, same as Sister Jiang.”

Dou Dou held a bowl bigger than his face, speaking softly, and the rice inside had already been eaten.

“You little kid! Only seven years old and you’ve awakened an ability? Amazing! Where are your parents?”

Chi Ye always spoke without thinking. No sooner had he said this than A-Lou sitting next to him tapped his leg.

In this apocalypse, a seven-year-old traveling alone, or even with two newly acquainted people, clearly meant his parents were gone.

Chi Ye realized his mistake just as the little kid finally spoke.

“They’re dead.”

Then he picked up a chicken leg and placed it in Jiang Yi’s bowl.

Though he tried to appear calm, his trembling hands and sorrowful eyes betrayed his grief.

Jiang Yi gently patted Dou Dou’s head. “Thanks, Dou Dou. You eat some too.”

Seeing the thoughtless man who had just spoken, if looks could kill, Chi Ye would have died hundreds of times.

Chi Ye’s conscience wouldn’t allow it. He took a box from his pocket and handed it to Dou Dou’s other hand.

“Sorry, little one. These candies are really tasty. I’m a big kid now and don’t need candy, so you can have them.”

Dou Dou looked up and smiled at him.

“Thank you, brother.”

Right in front of Chi Ye, he opened the candy box and started sharing.

First Jiang Yi, then Wen Chi, Jiang Jiming, A-Lou, and Feng Tu.

After a full circle, the candy in the box was gone.

He innocently looked at Chi Ye.

“Brother, the candy’s all gone. Sorry.”

Chi Ye understood and smiled, patting Dou Dou’s head before returning to his seat.

Dou Dou looked at Chi Ye’s back, smiled, then glanced at Jiang Yi, as if saying:

“Sister, impressive, right?”

Jiang Yi smiled, then put the candies Dou Dou had given her into Dou Dou’s pocket.

Dou Dou looked surprised, and Jiang Yi explained:

“Sister doesn’t like candy. You eat it.”

Dou Dou felt the fruit candies in his pocket and his eyes darkened. Sister didn’t dislike candy.

When they had been in that other group, he had secretly seen Sister eat a piece of fruit candy from supplies, and Xu Gang and the others had beaten her to the ground.

So much blood had spilled that the candy was stained.

After they left, Sister still picked up the candy and ate it with a smile.

Dou Dou counted the candies in his pocket—six in total—and secretly placed three in Sister’s pocket.

He kept three for himself, half and half.

Jiang Yi felt the movement in her pocket and smiled unconsciously.

Before the apocalypse, she had a younger brother, but he had died before she was born.

She only remembered bringing soup to her mother, who looked at her with disgust.

Her father didn’t like her either. Only her Grandfather had loved her and brought her from her parents’ house.

Growing up, she realized her father had never loved her mother, and she was merely an accident in his life.

Her father had used her hand to remove her unborn brother.

Feeling Jiang Yi’s sadness, Dou Dou reached out and held her hand.

Jiang Yi felt comforted and smiled. This time, she would protect her little brother.

Meanwhile, Wen Chi placed the candies in her small built-in pocket in her clothes and patted them contentedly.

They were all her little treasures!

When she went to the store, she had deliberately chosen clothes with these small pockets—just so she could always carry snacks.

It wasn’t too obvious. She really was clever!

Jiang Jiming noticed Wen Chi’s actions. Seeing her little horn-shaped bag bulging, he mischievously poked it.

Wen Chi glared at him.

Jiang Jiming withdrew his hand.

“By the way, you haven’t introduced yourself, Mr. Jiang.”

Wen Chi looked at him and spoke.

Jiang Jiming poked her little horn bag again, then raised his eyes and said:

“Jiang Jiming, 24 years old, Western-level Lightning-type ability and Mutated Spatial-type ability.”

Chi Ye couldn’t help laughing at their Leader’s serious self-introduction.

And immediately received a sharp look from him.

“Since you also have a spatial ability, can we store our supplies with you?”

Wen Chi asked.

“Of course.”

Exactly what they wanted. Jiang Jiming left the rest unsaid.

“What’s the name of our squad?”

Wen Chi suddenly asked, since they had decided to join—surely they should know the squad’s name.

The male lead Xu Qiaofeng’s squad had a flashy name: Bright Light Squad.

Actually, Wen Chi knew the squad’s name from her previous life—it had echoed throughout the world: X.

She deliberately asked to get Jiang Jiming to say it.

The system, having listened for a long time, spoke in Wen Chi’s mind:

“Host, are you really going to join their squad?”

“Of course. Otherwise, how can I follow the plot? Didn’t you say I should follow Jiang Jiming in the story?”

“But in the story, you never joined their squad. Jiang Yi and Dou Dou don’t even exist there.”

“That won’t affect anything, right?”

The system thought for a moment. Indeed, these two were minor supporting characters. It would be fine.

Its obedient host made it happy—mission completion seemed near.

“Fine.”

Chi Ye, hearing Wen Chi, almost blurted out:

“X…”

But before he could finish, A-Lou pressed her hand over his mouth.

Wen Chi thought for a moment, then said:

“Then let’s call it…”

“The Flame Keeper.”
