Jiang Jiming gently took the tablet from Wen Chi’s hands, frowning as he deleted the contents on it.

Then he cleared the traces of deletion and placed the tablet back where it had been.

Looking at the sleeping girl—her cheeks slightly flushed, her eyelashes trembling faintly—Full novel: Secretly a Half-Zombie in the Apocalypse, the Mad Villain Fell for Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

he couldn’t resist lowering his head until their noses lightly touched.

Before anything else, the sweet scent of the girl reached him first.

Just as he was about to lean down and kiss those lips he had long coveted—

the sound of footsteps at the door interrupted him.

Those rats were getting closer and closer.

Jiang Jiming’s eyes cleared, and he let out a heavy breath.

He picked up the girl and carried her into the room.

He refused to let those rats see his treasure.

Standing in front of the main door, Jiang Jiming shed his previous gentle and refined demeanor.

With one hand, he snapped his fingers.

In an instant, all the lights in the room went out.

The people outside saw the lights go off and assumed those inside had gone to sleep.

They immediately prepared to act.

Among them was someone who had been a locksmith before the apocalypse, so the door was quickly forced open.

Inside, it was pitch black.

A handsome man stood at the doorway, looking at them.

In his eyes, they were nothing more than a group of dead men.

Or rather, it seemed he hadn’t taken them seriously at all.

It was as if he had known of their presence all along and had been waiting for them here.

Some of them began to hesitate.

But Xu Gang, who stood at the front, was not afraid. From the look of it, there was only one man and one woman in this room—and this man looked like nothing more than a pretty boy.

He himself was an Ability User. How could he be afraid of them?

“Everyone, attack together! What’s there to be afraid of? There are so many of us!”

With those words, everyone gained a bit of confidence and rushed forward.

Each of them held different weapons—some had kitchen knives, others had sticks.

“Overestimating yourselves.”

After saying this, Jiang Jiming produced a dagger from somewhere on his body.

In an instant, several of those who rushed forward had their throats slit.

No one even saw his movements clearly.

Blood splattered across Jiang Jiming’s face, as if staining even his eyes red.

The heavy scent of blood filled the room.

And he seemed as if he belonged in such an environment by nature.

The others were so frightened that they dared not step forward.

Xu Gang immediately moved in, using his ability.

A vine shot out from his palm—but before it could even touch Jiang Jiming,

he felt a chill at his neck.

When he reached up, he touched blood—

and then he collapsed to the ground.

Seeing that even the Ability User had been killed so easily, the rest were terrified and fell to the floor.

Some with weaker nerves even wet themselves on the spot.

From the way this man killed, it was clear he had done it many times before—

someone who had walked out from a sea of corpses.

Among them, the second-in-command looked at Xu Gang’s corpse on the ground, then immediately forced a smile at Jiang Jiming.

Deliberately raising his voice, he said,

“Sir, we had no intention of offending you. We only came here today to greet you and see if we could travel together.”

Jiang Jiming looked at him coldly.

What he hated most were liars.

Just as he was about to kill the man—

a soft, delicate voice rang out.

“Jiang Jiming!”

Jiang Jiming immediately threw away the dagger and turned around in a fluster, looking at Wen Chi.

His gaze returned to its usual gentle, refined warmth as he spoke to her,

“What is it? Are you hungry?”

“I’ll go and—”

Before he could finish, Wen Chi interrupted him.

“Are these people here to fight us for territory?”

Jiang Jiming was stunned.

Us. Wenwen had said us.

But he still answered her,

“Yes. I’ll handle it.”

Wen Chi did not respond. She walked forward, looking at the men crouched on the ground, squinting as she counted.

All of them were men.

No girls.

She kicked the nearest man and asked,

“Where are the girls among you?”

They now understood how powerful this man and woman were. Moreover, the man behind her was staring at them like a predator—they didn’t dare remain silent.

But they also didn’t dare tell the truth.

“They’re all dead.”

Wen Chi spoke in disbelief,

“Dead?! How did they die?”

The man she questioned hesitated, unable to answer.

The second-in-command immediately stepped forward and spoke first,

“Some of them starved to death, some were unfortunately bitten by zombies. They were already physically weak, and with malnutrition, they died.”

“Now there are only two girls and one little boy left in the group.”

As he said this, he turned to look behind him. The others, who had collapsed in fear, immediately looked around for those three.

“They must have gone somewhere. We’ve been looking for them too.”

Wen Chi looked at their obviously guilty expressions.

Even if she were blind, she could see through their lies.

Moreover, she knew of their existence.

Previously, while wandering outside, she had seen a little girl—only eight or nine years old—digging through a trash can.

She had given her food and learned about their situation.

Since then, she had specifically instructed the zombies to throw food near where they lived every day—

and not to harm them.

Wen Chi was not a saint, but neither was she a cold-blooded killer.

She only wanted to do what she could.

So how could what they said possibly be true?

“Heh… how could they all just die so conveniently?”

“Starved to death? Bitten by zombies?!”

“I personally gave a little girl two whole bags of food.”

“And you’ve been hiding indoors the whole time—how could you have been bitten by zombies?”

“You’re lying.”

Wen Chi looked at the second-in-command, her gaze sharp in a way Jiang Jiming had never seen before.

Even when Wenwen was angry, she was still so cute! He wanted to kiss her!

But these people had made Wenwen angry.

They deserved to die.

The second-in-command hadn’t expected the girl to be so difficult to deceive. Looking at Xu Gang’s corpse on the ground, his eyes darted before he quickly spoke,

“Actually… I’m sorry, miss. We did lie.”

“Because those girls…”

“They were all killed by Xu Gang!”

“We wanted to help them too, but he was an Ability User. We were powerless.”

After speaking, he put on a sorrowful expression.

But a lie was still a lie—it could not hold.

Another voice came from the doorway.

It was the little boy.

He stood at the door. Due to malnutrition, his small body wasn’t even as tall as the shoe cabinet beside him.

But he still stood there, looking firmly at Wen Chi.

“The sisters weren’t just killed by Xu Gang.”

“They were killed by all of them.”

“You brat! What nonsense are you spouting?!”

“Watch your mouth or I’ll tear it apart!”

The second-in-command had never expected the little boy to ruin his plan. He cursed loudly at the boy.

The little boy took a step back in fear, glancing nervously at the door.

Wen Chi kicked the second-in-command, knocking him to the ground.

Jiang Jiming looked at the man on the floor—

and suddenly thought that if that kick had landed on him instead, it would have been nice.

A trace of jealousy spread in his heart, making him want to kill the filthy insect before him.

But he couldn’t ruin Wenwen’s plans.

Wenwen would get angry.

Although—even when Wenwen was angry, she was still very cute.
