After a while of explaining, Awakened Rock finally decided that was enough and coughed.

“That is all for today.

Next, follow the instructions sent to your communicators to find your assigned dormitory.Full novel: Shadow Slave – Devouring Vessel — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Once you have settled down, you may proceed to the cafeteria for some late supper.

There will be a round of interviews after that, to prepare your suggested curriculums.

Get a good night’s rest, your training starts tomorrow.” With that, he gave a short nod and left the building.

Koda hummed in thought.

“So… food.” That was all he could think about, that late supper sounded perfect.

Although, there was one more thing.

Awakened Rock had mentioned that their entrance into the Dream Realm for the first time would be random.

His location wasn’t secured and there was a high possibility he’d end up in the middle of nowhere.

Knowing his luck, Koda imagined he’d drop right in the middle of a prosperous citadel and immediately fall off a building and die.

Or maybe he’d appear in an unexplored region of the Dream Realm.

Or maybe he’d end up in the stomach of some giant nightmare creature.

He had no idea.

Shaking his head, Koda’s stomach growled and he immediately started moving to the dormitories.

It wasn’t far away, everything inside of this place that had something to do with Sleepers was in the same building.

So only after a few minutes of walking, he found his room.

It had a bed with a soft mattress, a table, a dresser and a neat little bathroom.

The materials were new, the air was crisp and it was pleasantly warm inside.

Koda sighed, it wasn’t much compared to his old room, but it would suit him just fine for the time being.

A tear nearly fell down his face at the thought of his now destroyed home, but there was nothing he could do.

Before he decided to run to the cafeteria to devour all the food he could find, he finally decided to check out that memory he had gotten from touching the rough metal of the cleaver.

He summoned his runes describing the Cleaver.

Memory: [Famine’s Reqiuem.] Memory Rank: Ascended.

Memory Type: Weapon.

Memory Tier: IV Memory Description: [A village found itself abandoned by both gods and men.

Winter arrived early and spring never came.

Hunger spread from home to home until it became the only thing anyone could speak of.

Old Bram was the village butcher.

For many years, he fed his people with the labor of his hands.

First went the livestock, then the work animals and finally the vermin that hid beneath the floorboards.

Yet no matter how much meat he carved, there was never enough.

As the famine deepened, the villagers began to disappear.

Bram never spoke of where the meat came from.

When the last of the village finally succumbed to starvation, the butcher remained alone amongst the dead.

His cleaver never left his hand.

By then, hunger had become something greater than a simple need.

It had become a companion.

The blade remembers every desperate meal it prepared.

“Starvation makes all meat equal.”] Koda’s eyes widened slightly.

That wasn’t how it went.

Not in his Nightmare.

Ignoring it for the time being, he looked a bit lower and his eyes opened wide.

Somehow, he was able to see… more?

[Hollow Thunder] Active Enchantment Essence may be poured into the blade as it swings.

The cleaver releases a devastating wave of compressed force capable of shattering obstacles and crushing enemies from afar.

The more essence supplied, the greater the destruction.

Koda nodded.

He had figured as much.

This is what Old Bram was using to destroy everything in his path, but unfortunately for him… he couldn’t even use this yet since he didn’t have access to his soul essence.

[Butcher’s Weight] The cleaver strikes with far greater force than its size should permit.

Each blow lands as though delivered by a much heavier weapon.

“That’s pretty cool.” He muttered [Harvest of Flesh] Wounds inflicted by the blade are difficult to recover from naturally.

Bleeding worsens and damaged flesh resists healing.

The more severely a target is injured, the deeper subsequent strikes bite.

That last one was pretty sinister.

He didn’t know what to make of it, so he simply summoned the cleaver.

White sparks suddenly flickered around his hand and it elongated into a large, dark meat cleaver with pulsing red veins beneath the blackened metal.

It was quite heavy, but he was able to hold it with somewhat ease, enough for him to be able to use it in combat.

He grinned, it was an Ascended memory, which was two whole ranks above him.

This thing would be able to slaughter anyone or anything that got in his way during his entrance into the Dream Realm.

He was confident in that.

He was confident he’d be using this memory for a long time.

Dismissing the Cleaver as his hunger became too much to handle, he quickly ran out of his room and sprinted to the cafeteria.

As soon as he got down there, he quickly realised two things.

Not only was the food free.

There wasn’t a limit.

Koda’s eyes gleamed and he ran faster than he had ever ran before, his clawed feet slapping across the floor as he very nearly started running on all fours.

Holding back the drool from his mouth, he grabbed a handful of rice directly from the bowl and stuffed it into his mouth.

Everyone surrounding the food table backed up and stared at him awkwardly.

But Koda did not care at all.

In seconds, he had butchered the entire rice bowl and moved onto the platter of various different meats.

He stuffed steak, pork, lamb, chicken, beef and whatever other meat they had straight into his maw and swallowed it without even chewing.

He moved onto the other side of the table, which was filled with even more meat and other foods.

Nothing was spared.

Not even the plates.

Not even the table cloth.

And before he knew it, Koda’s teeth were rending the table itself.

And that’s when he snapped back to himself and realised that he was being forcefully removed from the cafeteria by multiple Awakened Staff.

His eyes locked onto the mess he had made, then they drifted off to the side, where he saw the entire room staring at him with disgust and confusion.

Except for three.

Fischer was covering his mouth and secretly laughing.

Irene was covering their entire face in embarrassment.

The bald guy was looking at him with slight interest, but it quickly faded away and he went back to looking at the air with a very angry expression.
