“Song Jinyue, where are you going?”
Song Jinyue had just stepped out of the house when she happened to run into Lu Guangzong.
Looking at Lu Guangzong blocking her way, she said impatiently, “A good dog doesn’t block the road. Get lost.”
“You!”
Lu Guangzong was about to lose his temper, but remembering what he needed to do, he forcibly swallowed his anger.
“Here. Don’t you love sour plum juice? I passed by a store earlier and bought you a bottle. Hurry and try it. See if you like it.”
Lu Guangzong held the bottle out to her, eagerly urging her to taste it.
Song Jinyue glanced at the sour plum juice in front of her and sneered.
“A weasel paying respects to a chicken is never up to anything good. If you have something to say, spit it out.”
“It’s nothing. I just thought that since you’re about to be sent to the countryside, and we’ve lived under the same roof for ten years, I wanted to clear up all the misunderstandings between us before you leave.”
“I admit I’ve done plenty of things that made you angry in the past. I hope you can forgive me.”
Lu Guangzong recited the words he had prepared on the way over, wearing an extremely sincere expression.
Song Jinyue raised an eyebrow slightly.
She wanted to see exactly what kind of trick Lu Guangzong was trying to pull.
“Oh, that? I never took any of it to heart.”
Lu Guangzong’s face immediately brightened.
“Really? So you’ve forgiven me?”
Song Jinyue nodded.
“Mm-hmm. I forgive you.”
As if!
“In that case, hurry up and accept the sour plum juice I bought for you!”
Song Jinyue had barely taken the bottle when Lu Guangzong eagerly urged, “Try it! See if it tastes good. I’ll only believe you’ve really forgiven me after you drink it.”
Under Lu Guangzong’s expectant gaze, Song Jinyue opened the bottle.
The moment he saw her raise the sour plum juice to her lips, Lu Guangzong became so excited that he practically held his breath.
“Oh, right. Thieves broke into the house. You’d better go see what’s missing. Lu Manman and the others have already gone to the police station to report it.”
“What?! Thieves broke into the house?”
The news struck Lu Guangzong like a thunderbolt.
He immediately turned around and sprinted home.
The instant he disappeared inside, Song Jinyue poured some of the sour plum juice onto the roots of a nearby tree.
That idiot Lu Guangzong wore every thought on his face.
He might as well have announced outright that there was something wrong with the drink.
After returning home, Lu Guangzong checked every room. When he discovered that nearly everything in the house had disappeared, he hurried outside in a panic.
“Song Jinyue! What happened while we were gone these past few days? Why is everything in the house missing?”
Hearing his voice, Song Jinyue quickly reached out and grabbed the tree trunk for support.
“Hiss…”
“What’s happening? Why am I so dizzy?”
Watching her sway unsteadily as though she were about to lose consciousness, Lu Guangzong’s face lit up with joy.
The drug was working!
He couldn’t care about anything else now. He quickly stepped forward and supported Song Jinyue.
“Did you get heatstroke? Come on, I’ll take you to the hospital.”
As for everything missing from the house, so be it.
They had already transferred a large portion of the family assets to Qingcheng anyway.
Even without the things in this house, they would still be able to live comfortably once they reached Hong Kong.
Only Lu Weiguo knew about the secret room in the study, so Lu Guangzong assumed that nothing more than some furniture and household belongings had been stolen.
He didn’t take the loss seriously at all.
His top priority right now was delivering Song Jinyue to Brother Biao so she could repay his gambling debt for him.
Supporting Song Jinyue, Lu Guangzong headed toward the eastern part of the city.
Once they reached a sparsely populated area, he simply hoisted her onto his shoulder.
Song Jinyue, who was supposedly unconscious, quietly opened her eyes and observed their surroundings.
Remembering what those thugs had said a couple of days ago, she quickly formed a rough idea of what was happening.
Very well.
Originally, she’d only planned to empty the family’s fortune and leave these ungrateful wolves with nothing when they were sent to the countryside.
But since Lu Guangzong was so determined to court death, she didn’t mind playing along.
The big fool Lu Guangzong effortlessly carried Song Jinyue all the way to the abandoned factory Yellow Hair had mentioned.
“Brother Huang, that looks like Lu Guangzong.”
One of the thugs standing guard outside spotted Lu Guangzong approaching and quickly turned toward Yellow Hair.
“Heh. That kid moves pretty fast.”
Yellow Hair tossed his cigarette butt onto the ground and crushed it beneath his shoe.
“I brought her. Where’s Brother Biao?”
Yellow Hair didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, he walked behind Lu Guangzong and bent down to examine the supposedly unconscious Song Jinyue.
When he saw her flawless, delicate face, he licked his lips.
“Follow me.”
With a wave of his hand, he led Lu Guangzong into the abandoned factory.
“Brother Biao, Lu Guangzong brought Song Jinyue.”
Brother Biao, who had a cigar clenched between his teeth while playing mahjong, abruptly raised his head.
“Really? Where is she? Hurry up and bring her over! Let me have a look!”
“She’s here, Brother Biao! Right here!”
Hearing Brother Biao’s voice, Lu Guangzong immediately hurried over with an ingratiating expression and lowered Song Jinyue from his shoulder.
“Brother Biao, take a look. I brought her just like I promised.”
Lu Guangzong looked at Brother Biao eagerly, clearly waiting to be praised.
“Not bad, kid! Hurry, put her on the bed. Be careful! Don’t let her get bumped or bruised. It would break my heart!”
The instant Brother Biao saw the unconscious Song Jinyue, he tossed his mahjong tiles aside and shot to his feet.
Lu Guangzong immediately carried Song Jinyue over to the crude, battered bed nearby and laid her down.
The moment she was lying there, her beautiful face came fully into Brother Biao’s view.
He rubbed his hands together excitedly, practically drooling.
“All of you, get out. I have something to discuss with Brother Biao.”
Lu Guangzong turned toward Yellow Hair and the others and began ordering them around.
After acting submissively in front of these men for so long, he could finally throw his weight around for once!
“You!”
Yellow Hair had a fiery temper. Seeing Lu Guangzong dare to order him around, he immediately stepped forward, ready to teach him a lesson.
“Get outside and stand guard already! What are you doing hanging around here? Waiting to watch the show?”
Only after Brother Biao spoke did Yellow Hair reluctantly lead the others outside, his expression full of resentment.
As soon as everyone was gone, Lu Guangzong instantly returned to his usual bootlicking demeanor.
“Hehe, Brother Biao, look… I’ve brought you the person you wanted. So, about the debt I owed before…”
Brother Biao raised his hand and patted him on the shoulder.
“You did well today. Don’t worry. Your previous debt is completely wiped clean.”
“Thank you, Brother Biao! Thank you so much!”
Lu Guangzong excitedly grabbed Brother Biao’s hand and repeatedly thanked him.
Because they had their backs turned to Song Jinyue while talking, neither of them noticed when the supposedly unconscious Song Jinyue got off the bed and silently appeared behind them.
Suddenly feeling a chill run down their backs, the two instinctively turned around.
Song Jinyue smiled at them.
Then, without giving either man a chance to speak, she struck them sharply on the neck, knocking them unconscious.
Looking at the two men collapsed in front of her, Song Jinyue kicked them several times.
She walked over to the table and picked up a bottle of liquor. Then she took out the two packets of boar breeding drug that the piglet seller had given her and poured both packets into the bottle.
Afterward, she crouched beside the two unconscious men, forced their mouths open, and poured the drugged liquor down their throats.
One was a complete idiot, and the other was an old gambling addict.
They could keep each other company!
Song Jinyue spat disdainfully, then walked toward a nearby wall and slipped into her storage space.
When she emerged again, she was already outside the factory.
That’s right.
Her storage space had a teleportation ability.
However, its range was limited. Each teleport could only move her a maximum distance of two meters.
Without anyone noticing, Song Jinyue quietly slipped away from the back of the factory and headed straight for the police station.
“Comrade officer, I just spotted some suspicious people near my house again. I suspect they’re connected to those thugs who stole our belongings. I think I saw them heading toward the eastern part of the city.”
