At this moment.

Outside the study on the third floor.

“Knock, knock, knock.” Butler Bai stood at the door, raising his hand to knock softly.Full novel: She Looks Obedient, But After Marriage, She Turns the Arrogant Boss into a Dog — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Come in.” Gu Yan’s cold voice came from inside.

Pushing the door open, Butler Bai walked in respectfully, ready to make a complaint.

Gu Yan was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, his gaze fixed on the quiet courtyard, where Wen Miaomiao and Gu Han were whispering to each other…

“Third Young Master, I saw the young mistress and Assistant Gu sneaking around outside, and they even had physical contact…” Butler Bai reported with his head lowered.

Gu Yan turned and walked back, sitting in his chair with a stern expression.

“Hmm, and then?”

Butler Bai was taken aback for a moment before continuing his complaint.

“Their intimate behavior, if seen by others or if word spreads to the old mansion, might be somewhat inappropriate.”

Gu Yan curled his lips into a cold smile, playing with his pinky ring as his sharp gaze swept over, his entire demeanor radiating a heavy aura of hostility.

Crossing his legs, Gu Yan lit a cigarette and spoke calmly, “You’ve reminded me. If this matter spreads outside, I’ll make sure you’re finished.”

Butler Bai trembled inwardly, shuddering in fear, his head bowing even lower. “Third Young Master…”

Gu Yan wore a cheerful, amiable smile on his face, yet it concealed a hidden murderous intent.

“Dare to spread rumors about my wife, and your entire salary for this month will be deducted. If you can do the job, stay; if not, get lost.”

Realizing he had said the wrong thing, Butler Bai quickly apologized and retreated in a flustered, hunched-over manner.

After he left.

The murderous look on Gu Yan’s face faded. Holding his coffee cup, he walked to the window and saw Wen Miaomiao returning to the house.

Not long after, Gu Han knocked and entered.

Gu Han nodded slightly and spoke, “Young Master.”

Gu Yan, tall and upright like a pine tree, gazed at the night scenery outside the window, his voice low and hoarse. “Did you tell her everything she wanted to know?”

Gu Han nodded. “Yes.”

Gu Yan’s eyes darkened slightly as he continued to ask, “How did she… react?”

Gu Han replied truthfully, “She was indignant on your behalf, even heartbroken for you.”

A satisfied smile tugged at the corner of Gu Yan’s mouth. He waved his hand dismissively and took a leisurely sip of coffee.

“You may leave.”

Gu Han exited the study.

After finishing his coffee, Gu Yan read for a while longer before leaving the study and heading to the bedroom.

Upon returning to the bedroom, the orange bedside lamp was still on. Wen Miaomiao lay on the bed, playing with her phone.

Seeing the tall figure at the foot of the bed, Wen Miaomiao smiled and said, “You’re back.”

Gu Yan walked in, opened the wardrobe, changed into a clean set of pajamas, then got into bed and took her phone away.

“The light is too dim. Don’t play with your phone; it’s bad for your eyes.”

For once, Gu Yan was serious, holding her as they slept without any further actions.

Wen Miaomiao nestled obediently in his arms, wanting to ask if he was feeling better but ultimately keeping silent.

“Sleep now,” Gu Yan whispered softly, his large hand gently ruffling her hair, his voice low and husky. “Darling, your short hair is too adorable.”

“Can I kiss you?”

Wen Miaomiao’s heart raced like a startled deer. This man, usually irritable and prone to cursing, was now showing extreme tenderness—the contrast was overwhelming.

Gu Yan leaned down, his eyes filled with deep affection, kissing her chest and then moving lower.

“Don’t kiss there.”

Wen Miaomiao instinctively resisted, trying to push him away. She was too tired today and didn’t want to do anything.

After kissing her, Gu Yan held her close and slept, doing nothing more.

The next day.

At eight o’clock, Wen Miaomiao woke up. Well-rested, she stretched lazily, feeling particularly refreshed. She even took the time to put on some makeup, applying a light pink lip gloss that made her look playful and cute.

She wore a snow-white long dress today, perfectly showcasing her graceful and well-proportioned figure. With an elegant demeanor, she tidied her hairstyle.

After going downstairs, she had breakfast.

Gu Yan had left early today due to some matters.

She walked to the garage, intending to take a car to the city center. Although she had a driver’s license, her driving skills were poor, and she didn’t dare to drive.

Butler Bai reached out, sternly blocking her way.

“Young Madam, you cannot go out.”

Wen Miaomiao frowned slightly and picked up her phone to call Gu Yan, wanting to ask him why she still wasn’t allowed to leave!

The call didn’t go through…

Gu Han wasn’t around either.

Just as she stood helplessly at the entrance of the villa, a black Bentley slowly appeared before her.

The car window rolled down, and Wen Ruoxue, sitting in the driver’s seat wearing a cool black leather jacket, green cargo pants, and sunglasses, called out loudly to her, “Miaomiao, get in.”

Wen Miaomiao decisively jogged over, sat in the passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, and closed the door.

Butler Bai led others to chase after her, but the car had already driven far away…

“Sis, you’re here!” Wen Miaomiao beamed with joy, pleasantly surprised, her face glowing with a sweet smile.

Wen Ruoxue glanced at her while driving.

“I haven’t seen you for over a week and was worried, so I came to check on you.”

Wen Miaomiao brushed her hair aside, carrying a small pink bag, and said with a smile, “I’m fine. Gu Yan treats me quite well.”

Wen Ruoxue’s expression darkened, displeased. “Don’t speak up for him. He treats you well? He doesn’t let you go out? Treating you like a canary? This is house arrest. You could sue him.”
