As soon as she stepped out, Hua Xunyan and Chu Wenliu were waiting for her.
“What’s your name?” Chu Wenliu walked toward Yun Hui.
Yun Hui instinctively stepped back. “What do you want?”
Hua Xunyan tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, her voice gentle. “We’d like to get to know you. Are you Yueming’s friend?”
The gardenia scent wafting from Hua Xunyan made Yun Hui shake her head in discomfort.
If Yin Han Sou carried this fragrance, it would be pleasant. But on anyone else, it was simply unpleasant.
Yun Hui had always been a hypocrite!
She was no naive, sweet fool. She had plenty of petty thoughts and, like anyone else, could feel jealousy and envy toward others. Getting to know them… would only make her more envious.
“I don’t like you.”
With that, Yun Hui turned and left the auditorium without looking back.
Xunyan and Wenliu exchanged a glance. This little girl was jealous of them.
After writing that poem, Yun Hui couldn’t lift her spirits at all. She sat on the bleachers by the sports field, hugging her knees and burying her head in her arms, lost in thought.
“Why can others live so brilliantly?”
While I’m rejected and abandoned by everyone…
There was a breeze in the morning, but today, no matter how gentle the wind blew, it couldn’t reach Yun Hui.
Her phone kept ringing, but she had no interest in answering it, letting it vibrate on the bench beside her.
“What’s wrong? You can tell us.” Hua Xunyan had followed Yun Hui all the way and, seeing her sitting alone on the bleachers, pulled Chu Wenliu to sit beside her.
One on the left, one on the right, surrounding her.
Yun Hui glanced at the two of them, grabbed her phone as if she had seen a jinx, and prepared to leave.
Hua Xunyan wore a gentle smile. “We can tell you’re not in a good mood. Would you like to talk to us, your older sisters?”
Yun Hui didn’t respond—she stood up and left.
Just as she descended the steps, Bai Yueming blocked Yun Hui’s path. She looked at Hua Xunyan, who was still smiling. “Did you two bully my little friend?”
Yun Hui suddenly looked up and met Bai Yueming’s eyes—they were firm and resolute…
It was always like this. Bai Yueming always noticed when something was wrong with her and stepped in to resolve it. Yun Hui didn’t understand why her roommate, who could never accomplish anything, deserved such care.
Chu Wenliu pulled Hua Xunyan toward Yun Hui. “While we were lining up earlier, we both noticed her. The way she looked at us was really sharp.”
“After we finished writing our poems, we happened to see your social media post. So she’s your friend. We wanted to get to know her—but we accidentally ran into her when she was feeling down. We wanted to comfort her, but she ran away as soon as she saw us.”
Bai Yueming frowned. She had already blocked all the more troublesome people, so why were these two showing up now?
Yun Hui stood still, her face not flushed at all but instead growing increasingly gloomy.
Bai Yueming bent down. “Let me guess. Did Meng Yao trigger your social anxiety? Or did someone bully you? Or… did the love poem contest not go well?”
“I’m narrow-minded and can’t stand seeing others do well!” Yun Hui gritted her teeth, her expression deadly serious.
Hua Xunyan raised her bright eyes. “Are you jealous of us?”
Yun Hui pursed her lips and glared at the two of them. She was growing to dislike them more and more.
She shot them a fierce glare, then strode away with determined steps.
Bai Yueming frowned and glanced at the two of them. “Sigh… She probably just doesn’t get along with you.”
In the blink of an eye, Yun Hui had already walked a long distance away. Bai Yueming slowly followed her.
“Yun Hui!”
Yun Hui turned back: “No need to follow me, I can adjust on my own!”
Bai Yueming ran over and handed her a strawberry candy: “Silly girl, what will you do if you meet that sister looking like this?”
Yun Hui lowered her head, scenes from that night with Yin Han Sou flashing repeatedly in her mind.
That dark, unsightly face flushed red once again.
She absentmindedly took the strawberry candy: “I…”
Bai Yueming continued: “If something’s on your mind, you can talk to us. At least in your eyes, we’re on the same side.”
Yun Hui lowered her gaze: “I’m a bit upset right now. I’ll go rest for a while and I’ll be fine.”
Bai Yueming sighed in relief: “That’s good too. I have my own things to attend to, Yun Hui. Don’t make me worry about you anymore.”
Yun Hui waved her hand: “I’m fine.”
Bai Yueming now had to open a classroom for the department, her phone ringing incessantly in her hand.
“If something’s bothering you, you must let it out. Keeping it in for too long will make you sick,” she advised before turning and running toward the teaching building.
Yun Hui hung her head, taking a long moment to compose herself—only after the strawberry candy in her mouth had completely melted did she trudge back to the dormitory.
Back in the dorm room, the vivid painting immediately caught her eye.
Yun Hui turned on the light, and the woman on the canvas behind her seemed to be “staring” at her.
“What are you looking at! You haven’t even come to find me, you… you liar!”
Seeing that “Yin Han Sou” didn’t respond, her mood suddenly improved a little.
Yun Hui bit her lip, wanting to scribble all over Yin Han Sou’s face… but she had spent a lot of time on this painting.
So she took out her phone, snapped a picture of Yin Han Sou’s likeness, and used a photo-editing app to give her a realistic pig nose.
“Yin Han Sou, I’ll let you off today. If you don’t come find me tomorrow, I’ll give you pig eyes! And after that, a pig mouth! If you still don’t come, I’ll even add a pig tail!”
I’ll make you furious!
After saying this, she really edited a pig nose onto the picture of Yin Han Sou in her gallery. The stark contrast between that image and the Yin Han Sou she knew made Yun Hui laugh involuntarily.
“Yin Han Pig, I’m going to sleep now. Good afternoon.”
She took off her shoes, tidied up and washed up briefly, then climbed into her bed.
Yun Hui was a light sleeper. Her mattress and blankets were of the softest kind, making her feel as if she were sinking into the clouds the moment she lay down—a genuine physical sleep aid.
Unless she really wanted to rest, she never felt like getting into bed!
…
Overseas.
At this time, Yin Han Sou had just woken up. After freshening up, she sat on the sofa and watched the news.
Glancing at the time—her assistant should be arriving soon.
Knock, knock, knock.
The male assistant knocked and entered, carrying a thick stack of documents to report on the situation.
Yin Han Sou was dressed in a business suit. The dark-colored jacket made her look sharp and authoritative, while the white shirt beneath exuded a gentle aura. She held the documents in her hand, her gaze focused, her face mercilessly picking out flaws as she frequently voiced her satisfaction or dissatisfaction.
“Change all of these. Also, notify the departments below that there will be an inspection in a few days. Make sure they present themselves well.”
“Yes. Next is the financial report and the company’s cash flow…”
Yin Han Sou looked up at her assistant: “That’s the CFO’s job.”
“The CFO specifically asked for your confirmation.”
“We’re all in the same boat. He wouldn’t dare pull any tricks. Trust him with it. If anything goes wrong with the company, he’ll be the one in the most trouble.”
The male assistant handed over several documents.
“This is the summary of proposals submitted by the operations and technical directors.”
After reviewing all the documents, her brows furrowed tightly—her eyes narrowed dangerously, and her elegant makeup appeared somewhat weary from the frown.
Her voice was icy, betraying no emotion: “Put more pressure on operations and technology. Their performance this quarter needs improvement.”
“Yes.”
A moment later, the assistant remained standing before the sofa.
Seeing the assistant hadn’t left, Yin Han Sou raised her eyes to stare at him: “Is there something else?”
“The love poetry competition you organized at Haicheng University is nearing its conclusion. Would you like to keep an eye on the progress, Ms. Yin? A few days ago, you instructed me to gather information on someone named Yun Hui…”
Yin Han Sou stood up, picked up a wine glass from the dining table. She refilled it with a shallow layer before moving into the living room.
The stemware swayed in the air, the liquid inside swirling into an enchanting vortex.
Her cold voice seemed to gain a hint of warmth: “The Haicheng University matter isn’t as important as Yun Hui. Focus on that.”
The male assistant nodded, opening a folder: “The love poetry competition is proceeding smoothly, with awards expected to be announced tonight domestically;
Yun Hui was born in the southern city of Pucheng. Aside from older relatives, she has only three immediate family members: her parents and a younger brother. She took a two-year break during middle school and was forced to withdraw from her second school due to incidents involving fights and group brawls. Other information appears relatively normal, with no significant issues.
It’s worth noting that she participated in a national oil painting competition shortly before the start of the semester, though she didn’t achieve notable results.”
Yin Han Sou carefully savored Yun Hui’s “glorious deeds,” her expression calm.
Seeing that Ms. Yin wasn’t giving him a hard time, the assistant breathed a sigh of relief internally. This was one of the rare occasions when Ms. Yin was in a good mood.
Yin Han Sou raised an eyebrow in satisfaction: “Well done. You may leave.”
The male assistant nodded and gently closed the door behind him.
After the assistant left, Yin Han Sou leaned against the bedroom doorway, a faint smile appearing on her face.
Little Yun Hui, who would have thought you look so well-behaved~ yet you’ve done quite a few naughty things~
She took a light sip of red wine, feeling somewhat eager to return and punish the little troublemaker.
