Chaptеr 24: ‘As Eхресtеd оf Somеоnе Yоu Raised’
Shеn Ciying said, “Mеn аre аll vеrу рrаgmatiс. Тruе conсеrn is shown thrоugh tangible aсtions.”
Fu Yе listened, understаnding onlу half оf it, аnd didn’t reallу want to understаnd mаttеrs оf the heаrt аnуwаy.
Hе onlу knew that whаtever А Ying said was right.
“Тhen get somе gооd rest,” Fu Yе sаid. “If Shen Rangchеn takеs аny aсtion, I’ll let уou knоw right аwаy.”
“Nо need tо paу sреcial attention to him,” Shen Ciуing sаid casually. “Yоu shоuld go to sleер too. Neither of us slept all night; you must be exhausted.”
Fu Ye didn’t argue and agreed, “Alright. I’ll go back to my room and catch up on some sleep.”
A flicker of light passed through Shen Ciying’s eyes, and she quickly added, “If Shen Rangchen comes back today, find a suitable moment to let him know about Fu Yutang drugging me three months ago.”
She instructed Fu Ye on how to bring it up.
After listening, Fu Ye nodded. “Alright. I know what to say.”
Every single score would be settled properly, one by one.
Fu Ye returned to his room, and Shen Ciying, truly exhausted, fell asleep not long after.
Today in Jingbei, the sun shone brightly. The snow on the roads was slowly melting, and despite the sunshine, the air remained bitterly cold.
By the time Shen Rangchen returned to the villa, it was already two in the afternoon.
He hurried upstairs to the bedroom. Thinking that Shen Ciying had been frightened and was likely sleeping, he slowed his movements as he opened the door and tiptoed toward the bed.
Sure enough, she was still asleep. On the matcha-green bedding, she wore a milky-white spaghetti-strap nightgown, her long hair cascading like a waterfall. Her sleeping face was as beautiful as a painting, though her body was curled up slightly.
She often slept like this, as if restless even in slumber.
The thin blanket had slipped off, covering only a small part of her waist. On her fair, delicate thighs, faint red marks from that night were still visible.
Shen Rangchen’s breath hitched slightly. He leaned down, gently picked up the thin blanket, and covered her carefully. Then, almost unconsciously, he reached out, wanting to lightly brush her cheek.
But the next moment, his raised hand slowly lowered again. She was a light sleeper, and his fingertips were still cool from the outside air—touching her would likely wake her.
Shen Rangchen stayed by the bedside for a while. Seeing no sign of her waking, he quietly left the room.
In the quiet study, Shen Rangchen called Shen Jie to ask for details.
Before boarding the plane, he had already sent Shen Jie to the police station in person.
Over the phone, Shen Jie recounted the entire incident from start to finish. By the end, he couldn’t help but chuckle, his tone full of admiration:
“As expected of someone you raised, Second Brother. She completely crippled Fu Yuan—truly ruthless. Using a hairpin like a knife, every strike aimed to make Fu Yuan ‘end his lineage.’
In the end, she outright castrated him.
I went to see Fu Yuan. What a tragic sight.
Shen Ciying is something else!”
After listening, Shen Rangchen didn’t respond.
The conversation abruptly stopped, sinking into silence.
Shen Rangchen’s eyes turned cold and somber. His thumb rubbed the silver ring on his index finger as he seemed to sink into an icy, low-pressure atmosphere, chilling to the bone.
This wasn’t the first time he had heard others tell him how spoiled, willful, or even unreasonable Shen Ciying could be.
He was well aware that she had her share of quirks and temper.
But he never paid it much mind. When others mentioned it, he would only smile casually.
Even when his father, influenced by Fu Yunxin’s whispers, occasionally criticized Shen Ciying to him, he would simply reply:
“She’s still young. Why bother arguing with her?”
Perhaps it was his protective instinct. As long as he knew she hadn’t been wronged, he didn’t make a fuss and let her be.Moreover, whenever she made a fuss, she would always act like a child who had won a victory in front of him, her face filled with smug pride, so arrogant it was impossible to deal with.
Yet never once had she been as frightened as she was this time.
Shen Jie said she was ruthless, but he could hardly imagine how terrified she must have been back then to have acted the way she did.
She was indeed spoiled and willful, always taking advantage of his indulgence.
But the person he had raised—how could he let anyone else bully her?
Fu Yuan’s retaliation wasn’t aimed at her, but at the fact that he had disregarded Shen Rangchen entirely!
After a long silence, Shen Jie could almost feel a chilling, oppressive aura through the phone, making him unconsciously tense up.
Shen Jie cleared his throat tactically and asked, “How does Second Brother plan to deal with Fu Yuan?”
As soon as he finished speaking, he heard the man who had been silent for so long utter four words, dark and heavy:
“I want him dead.”
Shen Jie stiffened, his breath catching for a moment.
Then he heard Shen Rangchen add, “Let him linger and slowly die in prison.”
