Xia Yiyan slept until she naturally woke up, not bothering to open her eyes right away.

Today was the weekend—a day off from the daily grind for a corporate slave.

Lying snugly under the covers, it felt utterly cozy.

As she lay there, however, something felt terribly wrong. When had her bed ever become this soft?!

Xia Yiyan opened her eyes. Intricate, complex patterns were carved into the soaring ceiling.

It was a luxurious, dazzlingly grand bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows and a European-style king-sized bed. Even the bedding was made of exquisite, soft silk.

Oh, for goodness’ sake, this wasn’t her room at all!

With a bedroom configured this luxuriously, was a drugged CEO going to walk in next and ask her to sign for him?

She was still dazed, wondering how she had ended up in an unfamiliar place.

The next second, the door was pushed open.

A tall man walked in.

The man had very fair skin and wore a casual white shirt. His straight legs, outlined by black, high-end tailored suit trousers, looked even sturdier and longer. He truly was a handsome hunk with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long legs.

He walked closer and closer until he stopped right beside the bed, looking down at her.

His posture was as upright as a pine tree, and his features were as flawless as jade. His dark, deep eyes carried a sharp, unruly edge; his nose was high and straight, and his thin lips were lightly pressed together. His overall appearance was impeccably refined yet ethereally aloof.

Looking closely, a tiny red mole sat at the outer corner of his eye, adding a touch of lingering tenderness and softness to his cold exterior.

Xia Yiyan was stunned by the man’s striking looks, momentarily unsure of how to react.

Seeing her dazed expression, the man let out a displeased hum.

“Xia Yiyan, you really have quite the nerve.”

“Huh?” Xia Yiyan scratched her head, a stubborn tuft of hair sticking straight up. She barely managed to get the word “huh” out before feeling a rough, searing pain in her throat, as if a small knife was scraping against her vocal cords.

(Who the heck is this guy, and what did I do?) Xia Yiyan wanted to speak, but the pain in her throat made it almost impossible to make a sound.

Seeing that she still looked blankly bewildered, the man pressed his lips together even tighter.

He sat on the edge of the bed and pinched Xia Yiyan’s chin viciously with his long, warm fingers.

“I haven’t even punished you for running away yet, and you’ve already gone on a hunger strike.”

The man’s voice was low, deep, and magnetic, yet his tone was icy cold without a trace of warmth.

He leaned in close to her ear and began to murmur in a low voice:

“Did you know?

Your dear Jingyang had his legs crippled because he helped you run away.

Guess what

how I’ll punish him if you keep starving yourself?”

His soft whisper close to her ear, though cold in tone, carried an indescribable allure.

As the man leaned in, a hint of tobacco scent mingled with his deep, woodsy fragrance.

Xia Yiyan found herself rather liking the scent.

Without caring how Xia Yiyan reacted, the man turned around and strode out of the room.

Xia Yiyan rubbed her bruised chin—hey, he’s got quite a strong grip.

Wait a minute!

Why did this dialogue sound so much like a novel she had read just yesterday?

The luxurious bedroom, the red mole at the corner of the man’s eye, Jingyang whose legs were crippled, and Xia Yiyan.

Ahhh, could it be that she transmigrated into a book?

She sat straight up from her “deathbed”—turns out the clown was none other than herself.

She had just cursed the female lead a few times, and now she got thrown into a novel?!

Xia Yiyan got up and walked over to the bathroom. The person reflected in the bathroom mirror looked a lot like her original self, but upon closer inspection, there were subtle differences.

The person in the mirror was slimmer and prettier than her real-life self. Her chest was fuller, and her waist seemed even narrower.

She had to hand it to the author—the female lead was indeed gorgeous.

Her skin was as smooth as lard and white as snow, her features picturesque, and her gaze crystal clear. Her face was both delicate and stunningly beautiful.

No wonder she was a woman capable of captivating a CEO.

She pinched her arm hard—ouch… it hurt, so she wasn’t dreaming.

This… this was even a soul transmigration.

She hadn’t finished reading the book last night; she had stopped halfway because the female lead made her liver ache with anger.

All she wanted to say was: Xia Yiyan, you are out of your mind.

With wealth falling into your lap like this, what on earth were you running away from?

She was dirt poor, and her adoptive mother was seriously ill with no money for surgery. Relying on medication to sustain her life in the hospital, the mother was about to kick the bucket if she didn’t get operated on soon.

Upon learning this, the CEO invited the world’s most authoritative specialist team to treat her mother.

Yet, she dragged her feet and refused to accept favors from the CEO.

The CEO only wanted to help her and didn’t want to see her sad; he never demanded her body as repayment for the debt. It was she who proactively offered herself to settle the score.

Xia Yiyan had previously written a blistering 1,000-word critique, fiercely scolding the female lead for having a broken brain, lacking flexibility, being unable to appreciate kindness, and bringing misery upon herself.

The male lead was handsome, wealthy, possessed an eight-pack abs, was great in bed, and was hopelessly devoted to the female lead. The only problem was his paranoid, vicious, and ruthless personality, alongside an extraordinary possessiveness toward her.

Originally, the two of them just needed to interact normally. The male lead loved the female lead deeply and, afraid of scaring her, hid his paranoid tendencies remarkably well.

However, relying on the CEO’s love for her, the female lead acted willfully and threw tantrums nonstop, courting her own misery and sprinting wildly down the path of self-destruction.

During the eight years she was imprisoned by the CEO, she attempted to escape five times and even aborted the CEO’s child in the end.

Exhausted both physically and mentally, the CEO finally let her go.

Yet, after gaining freedom, she had long grown accustomed to a life of luxury. Struggling with poverty and facing setback after setback because she couldn’t handle regular work, she finally remembered the CEO’s good qualities and felt that she had perhaps fallen in love with him after all.

Xia Yiyan: Speechlessness’s mother opening the door for speechlessness.

Thinking back on the plot, this was her first escape after being imprisoned by the CEO.

As for why she was locked up: after giving herself to the CEO, the female lead had abandoned her adoptive mother—who was still recovering from surgery—and ran away directly.

In truth, her every move was completely within the CEO’s grasp. Fearing she wouldn’t immediately accept their intimate encounter, the CEO kept his pathological possessiveness under control and granted her as much freedom as possible, treating it as a way for her to clear her head.

Instead, it was during this exact window that she met Fang Jingyang and convinced herself she was in love with him.

In reality, however, Fang Jingyang was a con artist who defrauded people of money and affection—a deeply scheming man skilled in manipulation and acting.

The CEO couldn’t sit still any longer; he immediately sent men to snatch the female lead back and lock her up in the estate’s villa.

The female lead behaved herself for a short period. Once the CEO let down his guard, she secretly contacted Fang Jingyang to stage her first escape.

Regrettably, she was caught before she even made it out of the estate’s gates.

To spite the CEO, the female lead intentionally put on a tearful, lingering display of affection with Fang Jingyang when she was recaptured, hugging and clinging to him.

Outwardly, the CEO remained forbearing, but behind closed doors, he was so angry his heart ached.

The CEO had severe mysophobia; anything contaminated by others was thrown away immediately.

Yet the female lead was his most cherished person, the treasure he protected in the palm of his hand. Seeing her hugged by another man and stained with another person’s scent made him tremble with rage, driving him to the brink of wanting to destroy everything. Even so, he couldn’t bear to harm a single hair on the female lead.

He simply carried her to the bathroom in silence and bathed her over and over again until he was satisfied.

Upon learning that Fang Jingyang had his legs crippled, Xia Yiyan didn’t learn her lesson.

Harboring hatred toward the CEO in her heart, she smashed a mirror and used a shard to slit her wrists in an attempt to commit suicide.

Naturally, she was rescued.

When the CEO saw her lying on the bathroom floor covered in blood, he was both terrified and horrified. Rife with irrepressible fury boiling in his chest, he coughed up blood from sheer anger.

Well, now that she was here, none of those things were going to happen again.
