The next morning.
Su Ying pushed the door open and entered with Guoguo, carrying a box, and quickly noticed something unusual.
Why did she hear the sound of a kitten?
“Guoguo, did you hear a kitten’s meow?”
Guoguo nodded and looked around. “Seems like it.”
Su Ying walked toward the bar counter and set down the box in her hand.
Meanwhile, Guoguo wandered around the living room and was drawn to a pink little house.
Crouching down to look, Guoguo’s round little face lit up with surprise. “Ying, come quick! There’s a kitten here~”
“Where?”
Su Ying hurried to the living room, saw Guoguo crouching nearby, and walked over to take a look.
Sure enough, there was a Ragdoll cat with snow-white fur, exceptionally beautiful.
“Whose kitten is this? It wasn’t here when I left yesterday.”
Su Ying examined the cat bed—this was quite luxurious! The cat lived so well!
“Oh my, it’s so cute~ Come here, let me pet you~”
As soon as Guoguo finished speaking, she began reaching out to Fa Cai.
Fa Cai was quite agile. Seeing Guoguo’s hand approaching, it immediately slipped out of the cat bed and darted away in a flash.
“Hey!” Guoguo watched as Fa Cai jumped onto the sofa, clearly unwilling to be touched.
Guoguo turned to Su Ying with a pout. “Ying, why won’t it let me hold it?”
“Maybe… it’s shy around strangers.”
Guoguo’s disappointment was palpable. She pouted and said, “But animals usually love me the most. Whenever I meet other little animals, they all adore me…”
Su Ying was at a loss for words. “Well…”
She really didn’t know how to explain this to Guoguo.
Rong Yi, still sleepy-eyed and wearing pajamas, opened her bedroom door and elegantly yawned.
Her voice was soft and drowsy. “What are you two doing?”
Guoguo said, “Sis, you’re awake.”
“Mhm~” Rong Yi strolled to the bar counter, poured herself a glass of water, and took a sip. “Guoguo, why are you back now? Didn’t I give you a month off?”
Originally, Guoguo had only asked for a week off. But since Rong Yi had injured her foot and was resting at home anyway, she had messaged Guoguo to give her an additional three weeks off so she could spend more time with her family.
“I heard from Ying that you injured your foot, so I came back to take care of you. Besides, my parents were getting annoyed with me staying at home and told me to hurry back to work.”
Rong Yi smiled teasingly. “I bet it’s mostly the latter reason.”
Guoguo chuckled, not taking offense. She knew Rong Yi was just teasing her.
Su Ying interrupted their conversation and asked Rong Yi, “Where did this kitten come from? It wasn’t here when I left yesterday.”
If Su Ying hadn’t mentioned it, Rong Yi would have forgotten about the new little addition to her home.
She slapped her forehead and quickly hopped over to the living room. “I forgot to tell you both. This is the new little friend from yesterday.”
Su Ying watched her movements and cautioned, “Take it easy.”
She took two or three steps to Rong Yi’s side and supported her.
“I’m fine, almost healed.” Rong Yi sat on the sofa and called out softly to Fa Cai, who was perched on the back of the sofa. “Fa Cai, come here~”
Fa Cai turned its head upon hearing Rong Yi’s call, jumped down from the sofa back, and nestled into Rong Yi’s arms. “Meow~”
This scene left Guoguo utterly stunned.
Just a moment ago, it wouldn’t let anyone touch it, but as soon as you called it, it came down. How can this little cat be so two-faced?!
“Sis~ I tried to hold it earlier, and it wouldn’t let me touch it. Why did it come down when you called it?” Guoguo was utterly puzzled.
“Really?!” Rong Yi was delighted. “Fa Cai, how come you’re so picky?”
“Meow~”
It’s not just any ordinary cat, you know~
“Sis, is its name Fa Cai?”
Guoguo stared longingly at Fa Cai. She was a seasoned pet owner herself—her parents’ home had both a cat and a dog.
“Yeah, isn’t the name bold?”
Guoguo thought seriously for a moment. “It’s quite down-to-earth!”
Su Ying couldn’t help but chuckle at this.
Rong Yi smiled. Guoguo really was her kindred spirit—she’d said the same thing.
“Fa Cai, I’m sorry. Mom actually forgot about you. Are you hungry, hmm?” Rong Yi lowered her gaze, gently stroking its little head as she spoke softly.
“Meow~ Meow~”
Of course I’m hungry.
“Mom’s foot isn’t feeling well. Let this big sister take you to eat, okay~” Rong Yi said to Fa Cai, asking it to follow Guoguo for some cat food.
Fa Cai glanced at Guoguo and let out a reluctant “meow.”
Fine, it’ll make do.
Guoguo looked at Fa Cai’s little face, feeling a surge of determination. She clenched her small fist, thinking to herself: Give her an afternoon, and she’d have Fa Cai wrapped around her finger!
Rong Yi handed Fa Cai to Guoguo and instructed her, “Guoguo, the cat food is right next to Fa Cai’s bowl. It’s the golden bag.”
“Got it!” Guoguo hugged Fa Cai, unable to resist giving it a good “rua” first to satisfy her urge.
Su Ying watched Guoguo go feed the cat and then sat on the sofa, asking Rong Yi, “Who gave you the cat?”
Others might not know about Rong Yi’s work habits, but Rong Yi herself knew all too well. When she was busy with work, she could be away from home for a month—how could she possibly take care of a cat? Taking care of herself was already a stretch.
“It wasn’t a gift. It’s just staying with me for a few days. Once my foot is better, I’ll return it.”
“Oh, I see.” Su Ying thought for a moment. “Are you close with Fa Cai’s owner?”
“Why do you ask, Ying?” Rong Yi swallowed nervously.
“I heard you call yourself ‘Mom.’ Aren’t you close with its dad?”
“Well…” How should she put it? She and Gu Ye didn’t seem all that close.
It’s just that she’d always had ulterior motives toward him.
Su Ying narrowed her eyes, watching Rong Yi hesitate, and grew increasingly suspicious.
“Hmm?”
Deciding to just get it over with, Rong Yi closed her eyes and blurted out, “Alright, Fa Cai is President Gu’s cat.”
“What?!” Su Ying’s eyes widened in shock.
Fa Cai was Gu Ye’s cat!
“Yesterday, I spoke without thinking and messaged Gu Ye, asking if he could bring Fa Cai over to keep me company. Who knew he’d actually bring it over?” Rong Yi rubbed her nose and said softly.
“You… wait a minute, Rong Yi. Let me process this.” Su Ying pressed her temples, trying to sort through the jumbled information in her head.
Rong Yi raised an eyebrow, knowing this information would indeed take some time for Su Ying to digest, and didn’t say anything more.
Meanwhile, Guoguo, who was completely focused on feeding Fa Cai, paid no attention to what they were discussing.
She really was carefree.
After a moment, Su Ying finally lifted her head and rephrased her words, “So, you’ve been holding your phone and giggling like an idiot every day lately—that’s because you’re chatting with Gu Ye?”
Giggling like an idiot? Was she really that obvious?
“Yeah.”
Su Ying asked again, with a serious and earnest tone, “Rong Yi, you don’t have feelings for Gu Ye, do you?”
