Gu Family Manor—
Gu Qin Yi sat on the plush sofa in the living room, enjoying being fed by her husband.
Hearing the sound of a car approaching from outside, Gu Qin Yi slightly raised her phoenix-like eyes toward the entrance. “Is that Xiao Ye?”
Gu Ao Feng, who was sitting on the sofa with his arm around Gu Qin Yi feeding her fruit, didn’t even look up at the noise from outside, fully focused on attending to the still-charming woman beside him.
“Darling, have another bite.”
A strawberry was brought to Gu Qin Yi’s lips, and she had no choice but to open her mouth and eat it. Her voice was muffled as she said, “Mmm, no more…”
This was the scene Gu Ye walked into when he entered the living room—a powerfully built man intimately holding a petite, delicate woman.
Gu Ye unbuttoned the two front buttons of his jacket and strode over to the sofa, lazily leaning back against it. “Sis, did you call me over just to watch you two show off your affection?”
Gu Qin Yi’s impeccably maintained face flushed slightly. It wasn’t the first time her younger brother had teased her like this.
“What are you talking about?”
Gu Qin Yi straightened her posture and said helplessly, “It’s just that you haven’t visited in several months. Today, Xiangxiang and Xiao Tian are both coming back for dinner, so I called you over.”
“I’ve been busy lately. I just got back from a business trip.”
Gu Qin Yi looked at him suspiciously, her tone doubtful. “I hope that’s really the case…”
Gu Ye took a light sip of coffee from the cup in his slender fingers. “Of course.”
He had indeed been on a business trip, but that was a month ago. Lately, his schedule had been quite free.
Still, to prevent Gu Qin Yi from arranging blind dates for him, it was better to tell a well-intentioned lie.
“You’ve been busy for so long; you must have a few days off, right?”
Hearing this, Gu Ye sensed trouble brewing.
Sure enough, Gu Qin Yi set down her floral tea and declared firmly, “I’ve arranged for you to meet the eldest daughter of the Jiang family in Jingbei this Sunday. She just returned from studying abroad and is 26 this year.”
“There’s not much of an age gap between you two. Since you also studied abroad before, you’ll have things to talk about. You must go and meet her this weekend.”
Gu Ye rubbed his temples and said helplessly, “Sis, don’t worry about my affairs. Xiao Tian doesn’t have a girlfriend either—why don’t you send him?”
“Don’t talk nonsense.” Gu Qin Yi shot him an exasperated glance, feigning ‘heartache’ as she said, “You’re already thirty this year. When will you bring a girlfriend home?”
Gu Qin Yi looked at Gu Ye’s sharply defined, roguishly handsome face. With looks like his, how could he not find a girlfriend?
“When I was your age, Xiangxiang was already in kindergarten.”
Gu Ye cleared his throat lightly and straightened up. “No rush.”
Even though Gu Qin Yi had always maintained the elegance of a socialite, she was still infuriated by his attitude. She raised a hand to her chest, as if to soothe her frustration.
Seeing his wife like this, Gu Ao Feng felt heartbroken and quickly pulled her into his arms to comfort her.
As for his brother-in-law, Gu Ao Feng was at a loss. Gu Ye had always been unrestrained. When his parents-in-law were alive, they could still manage him, but now that they were gone, no one could really control him.
Gu Han Xiang had just walked in when she heard the conversation. It was clear her mother was arranging another blind date for her uncle, but it never worked out because Gu Ye never showed up.
“Mom.”
“Little Uncle~” As she spoke, Gu Han Xiang fluttered over like a butterfly and sat down beside Gu Ye.
Gu Ye had always been very fond of his niece, so Gu Han Xiang especially adored this handsome and stylish little uncle.
“Little Uncle, why are you back? Did you finish shooting the cover for that magazine abroad?” Gu Han Xiang asked with excitement dancing in her eyes.
Gu Ye curved his lips and raised his long, slender hand to ruffle her hair. “Yeah, I just took the G&Y photographers there. Once they finished shooting, I naturally came back.”
Gu Han Xiang’s delicate little face visibly fell, and she said regretfully, “Ah… I thought you were going to take the photos yourself, Little Uncle.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely be the one to shoot your wedding photos with Xiao Lin.”
Hearing this, Gu Han Xiang brightened up again, a smile spreading across her face. “Okay!”
Gu Qin Yi lifted her phoenix-like eyes and glanced at the two of them, saying abruptly, “I’ll only be at ease when you manage to take your own wedding photos.”
The remark was clearly directed at Gu Ye. Gu Han Xiang quietly stuck out her tongue, thinking it was better to keep a low profile at this moment.
“Sis, isn’t Xiangxiang’s wedding enough to keep you busy? Don’t worry about my affairs. I’ll handle them myself.”
Gu Qin Yi retorted, “Handle them yourself? If you could really handle them, I wouldn’t say anything. You never take my words to heart. You…”
Seeing the situation turning sour, Gu Ao Feng quickly interjected, “Alright, alright, let’s eat first. Xiangxiang must be hungry.”
Gu Han Xiang was pregnant, so Gu Qin Yi certainly wouldn’t let her go hungry.
Gu Han Xiang caught the look Gu Ao Feng sent her way and immediately stepped forward, linking arms with Gu Qin Yi and cooing, “That’s right, Mom, let’s eat first~”
Gu Qin Yi shot Gu Ye a glance and relented, “Fine, let’s eat first.”
As she stood up, she didn’t forget to add, “I’ll have a proper talk with you after dinner.”
As Gu Han Xiang walked arm in arm with Gu Qin Yi past Gu Ye, she mouthed the words ‘Hang in there, Little Uncle’ to him.
Gu Ye couldn’t help but smile wryly. It seemed he wouldn’t be let off the hook today no matter what.
