"Do you love what you do?"
Arthur asked Judy after a brief pause.
"Yes~."
Arthur nodded at her response. Basically, it was a hobby now. Since she doesn’t have to worry about money anymore.
"You should prepare a list of things you want. We’ll all be going shopping after tomorrow aaand... get me pen and paper."
Hearing Arthur, Judy’s turned to him stunned. But she closed her mouth and bolted to her room. She came running moments later with a notebook and pen.
She handed them to Arthur. He took them. With a nod. Then, he thought of what he would tell Sara to buy for the house.
"Arthur, how much are you willing to spend? Like, what is the limit of my demands."
Judy asked after sitting down.
"Do you need a car?"
"No?"
"A house?"
"Um, in the future, yes. But I’m a child now so no."
"There you have it. The limit."
"Mm!"
Judy nodded excitedly. She turned back to the TV happily. Thinking about what she wanted to buy. This rich boyfriend of her sister was more generous than she had thought.
He basically told her that she could demand anything a child her age would need. She couldn’t help but feel excited to finally go shopping and feel rich like those in the novels she read. She finally has the same backing as those novel protagonists. And she is not going to waste it. It. She could already imagine herself flexing to her friends.
Her life was changing. And dramatically.
Arthur on the other hand was listing stuff he will tell Sara to buy. Basically all the kitchen stuff needs replacement. Not the utensils and dinner set, but stuff like an oven, knife, pots etc. They look old. As for why not the utensils and dinner set, he figured they could be connected to her mother and were precious items.
Something she would like to keep? Whatever the case, he doesn’t want to take risks. It was not his house in the middle. He could only make suggestions. The rest was up to the owner. But once he gets his own house, he is getting his own stuff and no one’s gonna talk back to him for changing anything. That day isn’t far off.
And this house also needs deep cleaning. Although the living room seems fine, god knows what is inside Sara’s fathers room.
Sara and Jude came out of the kitchen laughing. They also sat down on the sofa.
Sara felt a lot better now that she has shared her thoughts with someone and he agreed. Jude thought the same way.
She looked over to Arthur and he was writing something down.
She couldn’t help but feel a sudden spike of frustration but she pushed it down.
This man has no emotions! He barely cares! He slapped her father and not once did he apologise! He has no manners as well!
She turned to look at Judy who was happily watching TV. This little Brat has changed sides like she changes clothes.
She snatched the remote and put a different channel. She expected retaliation but Judy just gave her a smug little smile like she was looking at an idiot.
Sara felt her frustration shot through the ceiling.
She wrapped her arm around Judy’s neck and drilled her fist on her head.
Judy tried to escape but she wasn’t strong. Jude cheered from the side.
Being the youngest was not easy. Judy was like a devil who would make him do chores by beating him in stupid games.
Sara was like an angel in comparison. And seeing that Judy was getting beaten, he felt spiritually massaged. He didn’t dare to scream out his support though. He just silently gestured his support.
Making sure Judy doesn’t see or else he will have a hard time in the near future.
"Miss Anastasia, here’s the list of things I suggest you buy."
In midst of Judy’s desperate cries and Sara berating her, Arthur’s calm voice cut through. Both of them stopped. Judy escaped Sara’s arm lock when she felt the grip loosening a bit. Sara froze for a moment before taking the list.
Tomorrow if possible. And also, hire a cleaning service and deep clean this whole house the day after tomorrow. We will go shopping. Make a list of everything you need and want. And, I would like you to leave your job. Money is my problem. You can stay here and take care of these two. Since there aren’t any adults in this house anymore to defend against intruders. This area isn’t a particularly safe heaven."
Arthur also laid out his plan and proposals for Anastasia Household. He won’t be home all the time. Since he does need to find more targets to spend on. And also look for ways to increase his influence.
So while he is gone, if Sara goes out too, no one would be there to protect these two. And if Sara still needed to work after he was here, that would be a shame of the highest degree. Like, what was he spending money on her for?
"... I understand. But I don’t think my manager will let me go..."
Sara said slowly. Arthur nodded. He understood that the cafe was that famous or earning like now because of Sara. The perverts who came to see her face are running business and bringing in profit. If she is gone, the sales would drop spectacularly. No business owner wants that.
But before saying anything, he needs to make sure if she has signed any contract or not. Because that would be a different problem and would require legal procedures.
"Have you signed a contract? Like, you must work from this time to this time?"
"No..."
"Then what is the problem? Notify them that you will not be coming to work from tomorrow and don’t go. You’re not obliged."
"But what will I say? The reason. There must be a legitimate reason."
Arthur turned to her, a bit speechless.
"... Miss Anastasia, is having more than twenty thousand dollars in your bank account not enough reason?"
Sara flinched involuntarily and blushed in embarrassment. She realised how dumb she sounded just now.
"Right! Right. I will let him know later."
"Now."
"...Okay."
