5 – Go Еаsу
It wаs аlrеаdy ten о’сlосk аt night when they аrrivеd at the Shеng family villа.
Веfоrе еven gеtting оut оf thе car, Shеng Chuyang, with her ехtraоrdinаrу hеаring, cоuld аlrеady hеаr the sоunds of an argumеnt cоming from inside the villа.
“I don’t аgreе! Нow cаn we just hand ovеr thе shаrеs we’ve аlrеаdу securеd to hеr?”
“Then whаt do yоu suggest? Thе vault key is still in hеr hаnds!”
“Shе’s just a littlе girl. I rеfuse to beliеve wе сan’t handlе her!”
Thоse wеrе thе voiсes of Luо Meiхuе аnd Sheng Nanting.
Sheng Chuyang reaсhеd up and rubbed her еаrs.
Luo Meiхuе’s voice was shrill and unpleasant to listen to.
Shares, vault, little girl…
It seemed they were talking about her.
The original owner’s mother had passed away early, but she had left behind a considerable inheritance.
“Get out of the car.”
Bo Chenjing’s voice came through.
Neither he nor Song Wu could hear the argument inside the villa; they only saw Sheng Chuyang sitting in the car with a thoughtful expression.
Sheng Chuyang got out of the car, holding the small cake. “Goodbye.”
With that, she walked toward the villa without a hint of reluctance.
Song Wu glanced at Bo Chenjing with a touch of sympathy.
For some reason, he couldn’t shake the feeling that the Sixth Master had been taken advantage of.
Bo Chenjing followed her without a change in expression.
Sheng Chuyang had already reached the main gate.
The guards at the door paled when they saw her.
“Second… Second Miss, you’re back.”
Sheng Chuyang only glanced inside before a mocking smile curled at the corner of her lips.
What a dear father.
He’d hired a whole yard full of guards just to keep her out.
One of the guards went inside to notify Sheng Nanting.
Bo Chenjing stepped forward, scanning the yard full of guards, his eyes darkening slightly.
Sheng Chuyang turned her head to look at him. “Is there something else?”
Bo Chenjing pressed his lips together, watching her for a moment before replying, “I need to greet Mr. Sheng.”
No matter what kind of person Sheng Nanting was, he was still Sheng Chuyang’s father.
Since Bo Chenjing had taken Sheng Chuyang away right under Sheng Nanting’s nose, it was only right to return her to him personally.
Sheng Nanting hurried out and immediately spotted Bo Chenjing, bowing his head respectfully. “Sixth Master.”
“The matter regarding Miss Sheng has been cleared up. It was a misdiagnosis of death by the doctor.”
Upon hearing this, Sheng Chuyang couldn’t help but turn and study Bo Chenjing closely.
She looked for a long time but couldn’t detect even a hint of guilt or deception on his face.
Sheng Nanting was puzzled. When he had gone to claim the body, he had repeatedly confirmed with the doctor.
How could it have been a misdiagnosis?
But Bo Chenjing had no reason to lie about this, so Sheng Nanting could only suppress his doubts. “Thank you for your trouble, Sixth Master.”
Only then did Bo Chenjing turn to Sheng Chuyang. “School will start soon. Rest well at home these days. If anything comes up, you can call me.”
As he spoke, he reached for his phone to give her his number.
Without a second thought, Sheng Chuyang refused. “No need.”
She would be returning to the City of Eternal Night soon, so it was completely unnecessary.
Countless people would beg for Bo Chenjing’s number, yet Sheng Chuyang had outright rejected it. Sheng Nanting was both furious and anxious, scolding her sharply, “Sheng Chuyang!”
In an instant, everyone’s eyes turned to Sheng Chuyang.
Bo Chenjing’s expression didn’t change noticeably, but his gaze grew colder and more detached as he spoke without emotion, “Your phone.”
Sheng Chuyang could sense that Bo Chenjing was angry.
Thinking back on how, throughout the day, Bo Chenjing had bought her clothes and instant noodles and had been so kind to her, Sheng Chuyang felt she should be a bit more enthusiastic toward him.
She patted her pockets and declared matter-of-factly, “I don’t have a phone.”
Luo Meixue, who had been observing from the shadows, stepped forward. “Her phone is right here!”The phone case was covered in sparkling crystal rhinestones.
The lock screen wallpaper was a photo of a man.
He wasn’t as good-looking as Bo Chenjing.
Sheng Chuyang unlocked it with her fingerprint in disdain, only to look up and meet Bo Chenjing’s meaningful gaze.
He was mocking her!
Sheng Chuyang felt a bit angry and puffed out her cheeks. “Send me a photo.”
The topic shifted too quickly for Bo Chenjing to react. “What?”
Sheng Chuyang pointed at her screen. “I need to replace this ugly man.”
A hint of amusement flickered in Bo Chenjing’s eyes. “Replace your fiancé’s photo with mine?”
“Huh?” Sheng Chuyang was stunned.
She could access the original owner’s memories, but only when she actively tried to recall them.
She had never even thought about the fiancé matter.
Now, reminded of it, she remembered she did have a fiancé.
“Sixth Master, my daughter is young and speaks without thinking. Please be magnanimous…” Sheng Nanting kept shooting glances at Sheng Chuyang. “Hurry up and apologize to Sixth Master.”
Sheng Chuyang couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to Sheng Nanting.
Replacing her fiancé’s photo with Bo Chenjing’s sounded like she had improper thoughts about him…
Sheng Chuyang tried to explain. “I…”
Bo Chenjing simply took her phone and saved his number.
Then, he shoved the phone back into her hand. “I’m leaving.”
Sheng Chuyang: “…”
As soon as Bo Chenjing left, Sheng Nanting’s ingratiating expression vanished, replaced by a cold, sinister look.
Bodyguards immediately closed in from all sides, trapping Sheng Chuyang in the middle.
Only then did Sheng Chuyang understand the meaning behind Bo Chenjing’s earlier words.
By saving his number in front of Sheng Nanting, Bo Chenjing had intended to pressure him, preventing him from making things difficult for her.
Sheng Chuyang slowly tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and spoke nonchalantly, “Bo Chenjing hasn’t gone far yet. Are you already in such a hurry to interrogate me about the vault key?”
Sheng Nanting’s face stiffened, and he forced a smile. “Yangyang, what are you talking about? We’re family. Family should share both fortune and misfortune. What good is it for you to keep the vault key all to yourself? Give the key to your father…”
Sheng Chuyang had no patience for cowardly and weak humans like Sheng Nanting.
She cut him off directly. “If we’re supposed to share misfortune, shouldn’t you all die with me if I die?”
Sheng Nanting: “You…”
Sheng Chuyang strode straight inside.
Her arrogant attitude infuriated Sheng Nanting. “I’ve been too lenient with you before, which is why you dare speak to me like this!”
The bodyguards moved to grab Sheng Chuyang.
But they were no match for her.
Not a single one could put up a fight.
Sheng Nanting didn’t even see Sheng Chuyang’s movements clearly. By the time he regained his senses, the bodyguards were already lying on the ground.
“You… you’re not Sheng Chuyang! Who are you?!” Sheng Nanting stumbled backward in fear.
He had raised Sheng Chuyang for eighteen years and knew her skills and personality well.
This murderous, intimidating figure before him couldn’t possibly be Sheng Chuyang.
Just then, Sheng Chuyang’s phone rang.
When Bo Chenjing had saved his number earlier, she had memorized it after just one glance.
Recognizing it was Bo Chenjing calling, she answered.
The man’s voice came through the phone, calm and unhurried, as if he were just chatting with her.
“Take it easy. Don’t kill anyone.”Sheng Chuyang glanced at Sheng Nanting, who was already so frightened that his legs had gone weak and he was leaning against the wall for support. “Oh.”
After hanging up the phone, Sheng Chuyang looked down at Sheng Nanting from above. “Someone you can’t afford to mess with.”
Her tone was disdainful, utterly arrogant.
Yet Sheng Nanting was so terrified he didn’t even dare to breathe loudly.
