If they wеrе wаrу of Bо Сhеnjing, finе.

But did theу havе to makе such a fuss оver Bо Chenjing’s cаt tоо?

Old Маster Jiang said thоughtfully, “Сhuуang, why is his сat with yоu?”

“Hе аskеd me tо take сare оf it fоr him.”

Sеnsing the probing tone in Old Mastеr Jiаng’s words, Sheng Chuyаng stоod up and sаid, “I’m hungrу. I’m going to grab something to eat.”

Wasn’t he just trying to figure out what her relationship with Bo Chenjing was?

Why did he have to beat around the bush like that?

She had no interest in playing along.

The people around began whispering again.

It was nothing more than calling her “rude” or “arrogant.”

Looking at these boring and hypocritical people, Sheng Chuyang understood why the original owner’s reputation was so poor.

…

Old Master Jiang was the birthday star and had to greet the guests.

Everyone else thought Sheng Chuyang was strange and unlucky, so no one spoke to her.

Sheng Chuyang was happy to have some peace and quiet, staying by the buffet table to eat.

The banquet hadn’t started yet, and the table was set with some small snacks.

Sheng Chuyang tried a pink cookie and found it delicious, so she picked up another piece to feed to Pang Qiu.

Pang Qiu sniffed it, then pulled back his round, chubby head in refusal, meowing, “Meow!”

Sheng Chuyang stuffed the cookie into her own mouth. “Just as picky as your owner.”

After eating her way around the table, Sheng Chuyang decided to go to the restroom.

The hotel was huge, like a maze.

Once she left the banquet hall, she got lost.

The Jiang family had booked the entire hotel, and most of the staff were in the banquet hall. There wasn’t even a single server in the hallway.

Sheng Chuyang began to feel anxious.

If she didn’t hurry back to the banquet hall, she’d miss the start of the feast, and that would be a shame.

Human food was so delicious.

She tried to retrace her steps but ended up going deeper into the hotel.

Suddenly, she stopped in front of a room.

Her expression turned serious.

The smell of blood was so strong.

Sheng Chuyang slowly walked forward and stopped in front of a room at the corner.

This was it.

A thick, pungent scent of blood washed over her, and Sheng Chuyang could feel her blood boiling.

Instinctively, she began to feel excited.

“Who’s out there!”

A sharp shout came from inside, followed by hurried footsteps approaching. The door swung open.

Sheng Chuyang looked up and saw Song Wu.

Song Wu hadn’t expected it to be Sheng Chuyang either. He turned his head toward the room and called out, “Sixth Master, it’s Miss Sheng.”

Even though Song Wu half-closed the door, Sheng Chuyang could still see the scene inside.

The room was spacious, but the lighting was dim.

Two men lay in a pool of blood on the floor, barely clinging to life.

One of them dragged his heavy body toward Bo Chenjing’s feet, pleading for mercy, “Sixth Master… please… give me… another chance…”

Bo Chenjing’s expression was indifferent, his entire demeanor calm and detached, as if he were completely removed from the situation. He didn’t even spare a glance at the man begging at his feet.

He raised his hand slightly, and one of his subordinates came over to drag the man away.

Only then did he look up toward the door.

When his gaze landed on Sheng Chuyang’s face, his eyes shifted ever so slightly.

The next moment, he stood up and walked toward the door.

Bo Chenjing gave Song Wu a look, signaling him to handle the aftermath.

Understanding, Song Wu stepped back into the room and closed the door.

Bo Chenjing asked her, “What are you doing here?”

The empty hallway was now just the two of them. The rich scent of blood emanating from Bo Chenjing overpowered the metallic odor lingering in the room.

Sheng Chuyang studied him carefully.

His attire was impeccably neat, his white shirt spotless, and the hand hanging at his side was clean and elegant.

It was as if the person who had just been sitting in the room wasn’t him at all.

So this was what people meant by ruthless and merciless.

“I got lost.”

She was still holding Pang Qiu in her arms, her dark eyes clear and untainted by any impurity. Standing there quietly, she carried an odd sense of obedience.

“Where are you trying to go?”

“The restroom.”

Bo Chenjing asked no further questions and led the way, taking her to find the restroom.

Before entering, she set Pang Qiu down.

Looking down, she immediately frowned.

Her black dress was covered in white cat fur.

She glanced at Pang Qiu.

Pang Qiu looked pitiful: “Meow—”

How can a little kitty control shedding like this? QAQ Sob—

Given its cuteness, Sheng Chuyang decided not to hold it against the cat.

…

When she emerged from the restroom, Bo Chenjing was now accompanied by Song Wu.

The group made their way toward the banquet hall.

Just before entering, Bo Chenjing suddenly called out to her.

“Sheng Chuyang.”

Sheng Chuyang turned around, looking at him with confusion.

“Do you know that killing is against the law?” Bo Chenjing’s gaze sharpened, as if trying to see right through her.

So he had overheard her conversation with Jiang Songran.

The Blood Clan had an unwritten rule: one could challenge a more powerful clan member to prove their own strength and elevate their status.

Life or death was irrelevant.

She had forgotten that humans were different from the Blood Clan.

Sheng Chuyang retorted, “Didn’t you just kill someone too?”

“Miss Sheng, you misunderstand. That was merely a light punishment for a traitor. The person has already been taken to the hospital,” said Song Wu.

Sheng Chuyang: “…”

Did she have some misunderstanding about what humans considered “light punishment”?

That person looked barely alive—were they really sure he could be saved?

Jiang Fan emerged from the banquet hall and nodded respectfully to Bo Chenjing. “Sixth Master, the banquet is about to begin. The old master has sent people everywhere looking for you.”

“Thank you for your trouble.” Bo Chenjing stepped inside.

Sheng Chuyang followed behind. Just as she was about to step into the banquet hall, she heard someone call her name from behind.

“Hey! Sheng Chuyang!”

Sheng Chuyang turned to see Jiang Songran calling her.

Jiang Songran walked up to Sheng Chuyang and reluctantly extended his arm, signaling for her to take it.

Sheng Chuyang was the old master’s chosen granddaughter-in-law. No matter how much he disliked her, in such a setting, he had to play along for appearances.

But Sheng Chuyang had no intention of playing along.

She simply bypassed his arm and walked ahead on her own.

“Do you think I’m giving you face?” Jiang Songran chased after her, trying to grab her arm.

Sheng Chuyang dodged nimbly, her tone impatient. “Jiang Songran, if you keep this up, I won’t hold back.”

Jiang Songran, who had always been treated like royalty by the original host, couldn’t stand hearing this.

“Even if you’re crazy, there should be limits!” He completely dismissed her words.

As he spoke, he reached out to grab her again.

Sheng Chuyang’s expression turned cold. She seized Jiang Songran’s arm first, applied force to his forearm, and with a crisp crack, broke his arm. Then, with a swift kick, she sent him sprawling to the ground.

After a brief moment of numbness, the pain of the broken bone hit Jiang Songran, and he writhed on the floor in agony.

“My arm—”

Everything happened too quickly. No one saw how Jiang Songran ended up on the floor, and no one witnessed Sheng Chuyang breaking his arm.Everyone crowded around to ask about Jiang Songran’s condition.

Only Sheng Chuyang stood outside the crowd, watching Jiang Songran coldly.

Someone as ungrateful as Jiang Songran would have been thrown into Red Moon Ridge to feed the crows in the City of Eternal Night.
