Gu Wan had taken off her coat, revealing every curve of her figure. Her body was voluptuous, with a full chest and shapely hips. Most importantly… she was sporting a huge pregnant belly that looked like she was four or five months along!

Everyone was stunned!

This was still a relatively conservative era. Men and women would blush just from holding hands, yet this woman had shown up to register her marriage with a huge pregnant belly? Good heavens! This kind of “do it first and ask questions later” behavior was simply…Full novel: Sixties Space: The Capitalist Heiress Takes Her Child to Join Her Military Husband — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“What a shameless woman!” one woman directly cursed. Her fiancé’s eyes had practically been glued to Gu Wan just moments ago. She couldn’t bring herself to scold her own man, but surely she could curse this vixen!

“Shameless hussy! No sense of decency at all! You’ve disgraced all women! And you actually dare to flaunt yourself like this in public? What a shameless vixen!”

Someone beside her immediately chimed in, “Exactly. Just look at the way she dresses and behaves. She’s obviously no respectable woman. And the man beside her probably isn’t any better!”

“Right. He’s probably just a sucker willing to raise someone else’s child. What respectable woman dresses like that?”

Zhang Xiaowei immediately sensed that something was wrong. He hurriedly looked toward the people speaking and saw that they were all glaring angrily in his direction.

He turned to look at Gu Wan and only then realized how figure-hugging the dress she wore underneath was. Her body was incredibly curvy, but what was going on with that huge, round belly in the middle?

Oh, God…

Zhang Xiaowei felt dizzy. He immediately shoved Gu Wan away.

“Y-You! Why are you dressed like this?”

Gu Wan looked at him pitifully. “Is there something wrong with it? I thought you would like me dressed this way.”

“I do like it, but that’s at home, where only I can see you. Wearing something like this out in public…” Zhang Xiaowei suddenly realized he had said too much.

“Oh…”

The people around them let out knowing exclamations.

So this man looked respectable on the outside, but privately he was quite the pervert!

Feeling the hostility around him, Zhang Xiaowei became even more annoyed with Gu Wan.

“Put your coat back on. What kind of appearance is this?”

Gu Wan obediently and pitifully put her coat back on, but everyone had already seen her stunning figure. Even with the coat covering her, they could still make out her graceful curves.

“Daring enough to do it but not daring enough to take responsibility, and then taking your anger out on a woman? What kind of man does that?” one man spoke up for Gu Wan.

Another man, now unable to continue enjoying the view of her figure, added insult to injury.

“He’s just a useless coward. For all we know, he’s living off her money. A man living off a woman but still acting so proud of himself—he’s certainly mastered the art.”

Those words struck Zhang Xiaowei right where it hurt.

He didn’t dare confront these people directly, so he could only take his anger out on Gu Wan. He didn’t want to stay there any longer and endure everyone’s judgmental looks.

“This is all your fault! I’m not waiting anymore. We’re going home!”

With that, he turned and tried to leave the line.

That wouldn’t do!

If he left like this, wouldn’t all her efforts have been wasted?

Gu Wan immediately grabbed Zhang Xiaowei’s hand.

“Don’t leave! Didn’t you promise to marry me? Why? Were you lying to me this whole time? Even after everything has happened, are you still trying to deceive me?”

Zhang Xiaowei impatiently shook off her hand.

“Stop pulling me! Just look at yourself. What kind of person do you look like?”

“You don’t want me, but you don’t want the baby either? The baby is going to be born soon! What will happen to the baby? What am I supposed to do?”

Gu Wan looked as though she wanted to grab him but didn’t dare, afraid that he would leave if she let go. Her voice was choked with tears.

“What baby? It has nothing to do with me. Hurry up and get rid of it!”

The crowd immediately erupted.

The woman was carrying his child, yet he refused to marry her and was even demanding that she abort the baby.

What a scumbag!

Unable to stand the accusing looks any longer, Zhang Xiaowei initially wanted to walk away.

But he still wanted to marry Gu Wan and get his hands on her inheritance.

Grinding his teeth, he simply threw the household registration booklet into Gu Wan’s arms.

“Don’t you think you’re capable? Here, take the household registration booklet. Go get married by yourself!”

Gu Wan immediately tucked the booklet against her chest but still clung desperately to Zhang Xiaowei.

“But how can I get married by myself? You can’t just abandon me. You can’t abandon our baby! At least write me a voluntary marriage application. Then I can try to register the marriage.”

Zhang Xiaowei was thrown into turmoil by her crying, while the stares from the surrounding crowd made his scalp prickle.

He impatiently waved his hand.

“All right, stop crying. I’ll write it.”

He pulled out a pen, casually wrote a few words—“voluntary application”—on a piece of paper, then signed his name. He impatiently shoved it into Gu Wan’s hands.

“Take it and handle it yourself.”

With that, he pushed his way through the crowd and left.

Gu Wan looked at the few words he had written and discovered that he and Li Mingyue really were a perfect pair.

The paper contained only a few crooked words, and he hadn’t even specified what he was voluntarily applying for.

But that was exactly what she wanted.

Gu Wan suppressed her excitement and maintained a sorrowful expression.

She held the paper and household registration booklet with a heartbroken look and was about to leave the line when the people beside her couldn’t bear to watch any longer. One after another, they stopped her.

“Don’t leave! You can’t let that heartless man get away with this. Take these things and go register the marriage. He did this, so he has to take responsibility!”

Gu Wan bitterly shook her head.

“He won’t come, so I can’t register the marriage. He knows that and uses it against me. Every time, he runs away like this.”

Gu Wan looked down at her heavily protruding belly.

“Otherwise, I wouldn’t have wasted so much time until the baby grew this big and still…”

Gu Wan began sobbing pitifully.

The flames of righteous indignation immediately ignited in everyone’s hearts.

An older woman stepped forward and supported Gu Wan.

“Don’t worry about it. This time, we’ll testify for you. We absolutely won’t let that scumbag get away again!”

Gu Wan was stunned too. She had no idea what these people were planning to do.

Several people surrounded her and brought her to the counter, explaining Gu Wan’s situation to the staff member in meticulous detail.

Gu Wan obediently showed the staff member her household registration booklet and the note Zhang Xiaowei had just written.

Seeing Gu Wan’s heavily pregnant belly, the staff member was filled with sympathy.

“Don’t worry. We’ll make an exception and handle this case specially. That scumbag has to take responsibility!”

And so, a marriage certificate resembling a grand award certificate was issued in no time.

It stated that Li Mingyue and Zhang Xiaowei had voluntarily agreed to marry!

A scumbag and a shameless woman like them deserved to be tied together forever. Better that they stop going out and hurting innocent people!

Consider this my parting gift. No need to thank me!

Before leaving, Gu Wan timidly asked the staff member for the note Zhang Xiaowei had written.

“I want to keep that.”

The staff member looked at Gu Wan with an expression of exasperation, but having some written evidence might help her, so he returned the note to her.

Gu Wan thanked the staff member and the kind-hearted people who had helped her, then slowly walked out of the office, leaving everyone with a lonely, sorrowful figure.

The crowd couldn’t help sighing sympathetically over her plight.

What they didn’t know was that Gu Wan was practically bursting with joy inside!

With this marriage certificate, everything would be even easier.

She found an empty corner, fixed herself up, and recreated the makeup and hairstyle she had worn the previous day. She also removed the cotton padding from her belly and put it into her space.

Then she walked into the Youth Educated Youth Office.

It was the same staff member from yesterday.

“Comrade, hello. I’m here to apply for my husband to go to the countryside.”

The staff member looked up.

Wasn’t this the foolish girl from yesterday?

“Your husband? Why didn’t he come with you?”
