Lin Yue put down her work and walked over to He Yuan’s desk.

“Mr. He, Ms. Su Ying called tonight for eight o’clock at Yunxing Hotel. She didn’t give a room number, and she hung up without waiting for a reply.”

He Yuan paused, his brow slightly furrowed.Full novel: So This Is What You’re Really Like, Secretary Lin — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He looked up at Lin Yue. “Su Ying?”

“Yes,” Lin Yue nodded.

He Yuan tossed aside his pen. That Zhong Mu… what was he up to this time? Letting Su Ying arrange to meet him—there was nothing he could do.

He didn’t want to get involved in their matters, but since Su Ying and Zhong Mu had met at his birthday party, and now Su Ying was deeply interested, he felt it somehow involved him too.

After a moment, He Yuan said, “Got it. You’re coming with me tonight.”

“Ah?”

For the first time, Lin Yue questioned his words. “Me? Isn’t that inconvenient?”

He Yuan looked at her. Their eyes met in the air, and with just one glance, he knew she had misunderstood.

“Su Ying is a girl my grandmother sponsored. She’s three years older than me. I grew up abroad, and she’s like a sister to my mother.”

Lin Yue blinked, then blurted out, “Y-Your… aunt?”

He Yuan couldn’t help but laugh. “You could put it that way.”

Lin Yue was stunned. An aunt just three years older than herself?

He Yuan continued, “Also, go to Vice President Wei’s office. I’ve already told her about your company apartment.”

“Okay, I’ll go right now.”

Vice President Wei was extremely busy, so when Lin Yue greeted her, she called the administrative supervisor to handle it, letting Lin Yue go on her own.

After filling out the forms at the administration office, Lin Yue returned to her desk and noticed He Yuan searching in a cabinet nearby.

“Mr. He, what are you looking for? Maybe I can help.”

He Yuan held out his hand. Lin Yue gasped. “You’re bleeding?”

He Yuan: “It’s nothing, just scratched by a folder. I’m looking for a bandage.”

“I have one, wait a moment.” Lin Yue hurried back to her desk and pulled out a bandage from her drawer.

The bandage had a bear design. If she remembered correctly, it was the one Qin Yan had bought, and Lin Yue had taken two pieces.

He Yuan was a major boss with a signing ceremony at the square this afternoon. Even if he wasn’t a celebrity, media would be present. Wearing such a cute bandage might cause unnecessary speculation, but this was the only option.

Lin Yue walked over to him. “Sorry, Mr. He, this is all I have.”

He Yuan nodded. The bandage had several bears with different expressions.

“I can buy a new one for you at noon…” she began.

“No need. Function is the same,” He Yuan said, taking the bandage.

Lin Yue carefully helped stick it on his wound.

Just then, Zhou Yunce pushed the door open and saw He Yuan with a soft smile, looking down at Lin Yue carefully applying the bandage.

Perfect timing!

Lin Yue finished and noticed Zhou Yunce, smiled faintly, and returned to her desk.

At the same time, a department came to deliver documents. To avoid disturbing them, Lin Yue led the staff to the outer room.

Zhou Yunce glanced at the bandage on He Yuan’s finger and jokingly said during work hours, “If you’d waited longer, the wound might’ve healed by itself.”

He Yuan glanced at him. “The work report isn’t until the afternoon. Why are you here now?”

Zhou Yunce clicked his tongue. “Already annoyed with me? You only notice the newbie’s smile, never the old guy’s tears.”

He Yuan was about to chase him away, but Zhou Yunce sat seriously. After about ten minutes, their conversation ended.

Just as Zhou Yunce was leaving, He Yuan called him back.

“Do you know where Zhong Mu went?”

“How would I know? You know him. Crazy as always. Who could stop him?”

He Yuan sighed. “Su Ying’s call reached the President’s Office.”

Zhou Yunce smirked. “She knew you wouldn’t answer, so Lin Secretary took it?”

He Yuan nodded.

“Hope Secretary Lin didn’t misunderstand. Did you explain?”

“Yes,” He Yuan replied.

Zhou Yunce relaxed but couldn’t resist teasing. “As they say, the one nearest the water gets the moon first. The moon is already in your courtyard. Don’t tell me you can’t reach it?”

He Yuan: “…Vice President Wei already arranged the company apartment for her.”

Zhou Yunce: “…You let her go to the apartment? With your intelligence, you could’ve found a hundred reasons to keep her there.”

He Yuan looked at Zhou Yunce disdainfully. “You don’t get it. She’s just a girl. Living with her boss—even if we’re just colleagues—if people find out, one word from someone and it could ruin her reputation.”

Zhou Yunce nodded in agreement. “You’re considerate. I fall short.”

He Yuan: “Yes. As long as she’s competent at work, that’s enough for me.”

Zhou Yunce: “And Secretary Lin? Any special requirements? You seem serious, but maybe it’s because you’ve never been in love, so everything is new. Remember, she’s just an ordinary girl. The gap between you is huge. Cinderella stories may fool many, but reality is different.”

He Yuan didn’t get angry. He calmly replied, “Who defines the gap? You call it reality, I don’t see it as a problem.”

He Yuan knew exactly what kind of person he was. The only concern was whether Lin Yue could accept him.

He never assumed his status guaranteed affection.

At the start of love, he was cautious, just like any ordinary man.

Zhou Yunce, curious, asked: “Can you decide someone’s whole life from love at first sight?”

He Yuan smiled lightly. “Even I didn’t believe it, but the fact is, the first time I saw her, I absurdly wanted to marry her.”

Maybe it was the warm evening wind or the quiet sunset. By chance, someone entered his line of sight. Leaves swayed, sunset glowed, everything else blurred.

At that moment, a voice suddenly entered his mind—

It’s her!
