Ahahaha…!!
Ngh…?
*Bleh*…!
*Cough cough cough*…
I bounded off the stone in sheer excitement, unable to suppress the wild joy surging in my heart.
I burst out laughing, only to accidentally choke on my own spit.
Just a moment ago, I used [Super-Thought Acceleration] to slow down real time to the extreme.
During that window, I reviewed practically every ability I could remember from the original story, queried the system one by one about the skill point costs required to acquire them, and carefully selected the most suitable ones to learn.
Thanks to my meticulous calculations, I spent my skill points practically down to the very last point~ I already feel like I’ve become super strong now!
Oh, right.
Although I also tried to make up a few skill names that didn’t exist in the original story, it didn’t work…
The system gave zero reaction.
Still…
there was that odd remainder of twenty points I just couldn’t spend, so I had no choice but to dump it into [Appraisal]’s EXP.
Thinking this, I lightly tapped the wall beside me.
[Great Elroe Labyrinth Upper Stratum Deep Area]
That’s right!
As you can see, Lord [Appraisal] has also successfully leveled up to Level 2!
Ooh!
I feel like I’ve learned a ton of skills now!
Hmm…
conservatively speaking, there must be around thirty or forty of them.
Even though they’re mostly a bunch of un-leveled Level 1 miscellaneous skills, having them is way better than nothing~
I calculated it all in my head.
Then…
wouldn’t that mean I’m ridiculously strong compared to the other monsters in the Upper Stratum now?!
Yay…!
Wait, no, no.
It doesn’t seem…
entirely true…
Come to think of it, Kumoko had close to 70 skills back when she was a Small Poison Taratect, and a lot of her skills were earned through her own hard training.
Compared to skills bought with points like mine, her compatibility with them goes without saying.
What’s more…
I can’t even use the Magic-type skills…
It’s not just a matter of proficiency; my current MP pool doesn’t support using them at all…
Man, I really feel like I took a huge loss here.
Those three high-tier magic skills cost me a whole bucket of skill points…
*Sigh*, I let out a breath.
Don’t be sad, don’t be sad!
They’ll come in handy eventually down the road~
Though speaking of which…
I remember the mechanism for how many skill points a skill costs is determined by an individual’s traits and personality.
For example, Kumoko is socially anxious, so acquiring [Telepathy] or command-type skills required a massive amount of skill points for her, whereas it only took me a baseline 100 points.
Spider monsters are terrified of fire, so learning Fire Magic costs them an exorbitant amount of skill points, and acquiring the corresponding resistance is exceptionally difficult.
Looking at it this way, my species’ weakness must be speed.
For instance, acquiring the high-tier speed skill [Skanda] cost me a total amount of skill points equal to the sum of the three high-tier magic skills—[Earth Magic], [Dark Magic], and [Spatial Magic]—combined!
It took a whopping 15,000 points!
Thinking about this, I stretched and moved my body around.
Hmm, I definitely feel a lot lighter and faster!
Alright!
Starting now, Little Lizard’s leveling journey officially begins!
I blinked, wagged my tail behind me, and looked into the thick, almost solid darkness ahead.
Adjusting my mindset a little, I slowly exhaled a breath, activated a few stealth-type skills, pressed myself tightly against the wall, and darted forward…
…
Eeyahhhh!!
Take this!
Lizard Thrust!
I leaped down from the ceiling, pouncing onto an Elroe Frog at extreme speed.
Before it could react, my sharp claws sank into the back of its neck, and I used the momentum to pin down its body.
The frog monster squealed in pain, frantically shaking its back while whipping its tongue out from its mouth toward its rear.
Roar roar!
I knew you’d try that!
So, I kicked off hard with both feet, dodging the frog’s counterattack to the side while ripping the wound open even further.
My sudden dodge caused its tongue to slam right onto itself with a loud thud!
Ooh, you whipped yourself, you know~
After rolling twice, I landed firmly on the ground, keeping my gaze locked onto the frog monster.
It stumbled up from the ground, spewing venom wildly in my direction.
I ducked aside to dodge, lunging at it again from the side.
Before it could spit a second volley of venom, I had already closed the distance right in front of it, thrusting my claws hard into its chin and smashing its opening mouth shut.
*Pfft!*
A piercing sound rang out.
I pulled out my right claw, and in an instant, a burst of poisonous blood spurted out, spraying all over my face.
The frog monster collapsed to the ground, its limbs twitching twice before going completely still.
I happily raised my head, striking a pose exclusive to victors.
Wiping my face, I casually flicked my right claw, throwing the poisonous blood onto the ground beside me.
See that?
I’m super awesome!
Hmph~
«Proficiency reached a certain level.
Skill [Poison Resistance LV.1] leveled up to [Poison Resistance LV.2].»
Ow ow ow, it hurts, hurts, hurts…
I rubbed my burning face.
If I knew it’d hurt, I wouldn’t have tried to act so cool…
I turned my head to look at the frog monster’s corpse beneath my feet.
Hmm!
Time to enjoy the fruits of victory!
…
*Bleh*…
So gross… Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.
…
Take this!
[Petrifying Evil Eye]!
…
Waaaah…
my claws…
«Proficiency reached a certain level…»
Ooh!
Leveled up?
Yay!
My injuries healed again!
Hahaha…
…
Total small fries, got zero strength~
Three Elroe Randanel collapsed reluctantly in front of me, turning into a portion of my EXP.
I walked forward and kicked them twice.
Yep, looks like they’re as dead as dead can be…
…
Finally…
With the help of [Greed], I continuously plundered EXP from various monsters, smoothly pushing my level up to Level 7!
Even my various skills have improved to varying degrees!
The low-tier monsters in the Upper Stratum are no match for me anymore~
Hehehe…
If things keep developing like this, maybe I can be given an exclusive “terrifying” title by humans, just like Kumoko’s “Nightmare of the Labyrinth” in the original story!
Uh, though there might still be a bit of a distance to go…
that only makes me even more motivated!
Having a goal to strive for is what drives a lizard to make progress, doesn’t it?
I turned my head and glanced at the leftover monster remains beside me, lying down on a pile of squishy moss as thoughts of the future kept popping up in my mind.
*Whew~*
I slowly let out a breath.
Tsk, don’t laugh, but the texture of this moss is really great.
It’s soft and squishy.
No matter what posture a lizard takes on it, it always feels insanely relaxing.
That’s why every time I see it, I can’t help but linger for a bit longer.
*Ahem*…
This is just normal rest, definitely not slacking off!
Well, maybe it’s also because the lizard species naturally prefers shade.
Damp moss suits my taste perfectly.
I let my head droop boredly, staring blankly at the ceiling.
After several days, I’ve roughly managed to confirm the timeline I’m in.
Although I don’t know the exact time, I’m certain Kumoko hasn’t reincarnated yet.
Because up until now, I haven’t seen a single trace of a spider monster.
Therefore, this can only mean one thing: the Queen Taratect hasn’t come to the Upper Stratum to lay eggs yet!
That’s why there are no Small Lesser Taratects in the Upper Stratum at all!
Yep!
I’m just way too smart!
Hss…
Now, assuming the Queen’s egg-laying period lasts for a year…
the current time should be around the year 839 of the Kingdom Calendar, or just under 840.
What?
You say it might be a different year?
No, no, no, it won’t be like that.
Because if the time gap between me and the other reincarnators were too big, it…
wouldn’t be fun anymore, would it?
That’s the basis of my assertion!
Hmph hmph~
