Ability-enhanced bullets?

Mei Jun was momentarily stunned, but then recalled the ability cannon they had made last time. He guessed, “The bullets don’t have gunpowder—they contain abilities.”

If Mei Jun hadn’t kept a straight face, she would have wanted to say, “Don’t joke.”

How do you even put an ability into a bullet?

Yu Pan forced herself to suppress the twitch at the corner of her mouth and tried to focus on strapping her gear, but out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a pair of green eyes through the car window.

Her communicator on her wrist beeped an alert. Mei Jun, expression unchanged, continued driving calmly, giving orders: “I’ll cover you. Take them out.”

Yu Pan’s previously indifferent expression immediately stiffened. As she rolled down the window, she raised her gun and aimed sharply at the zombies lurking in the shadows.

Bang.

The next moment, there was a massive explosion ahead.

Yu Pan was startled. Mei Jun slowly glanced toward the scene, then turned the vehicle and drove straight over.

Where the headlights shone, in addition to the green-eyed zombie, there were three or five low-level zombies hidden nearby.

All of them were burning with cyan-colored ability flames.

“…Whoa,” Yu Pan exclaimed belatedly. “They really are ability bullets!”

This was so convenient—the zombie corpses didn’t even need to be set on fire manually!

Mei Jun’s eyes flickered. He opened the trunk and saw three boxes of bullets at the top.

Tu Sanqi and Fei Yucheng had sorted them.

One box was fire, one box water, and one box lightning ability.

Yu Pan walked over, curiously opened the box labeled “Lightning,” and found a note inside.

It read that lightning ability bullets deal area-of-effect damage and could also be combined with water abilities for synergy.

The two of them exchanged a glance.

“Let’s go,” Mei Jun called, telling her to get in the car, an unusual gleam of anticipation in his eyes. “Go try them out.”

Back at their temporary workspace, Fei Yucheng and Tu Sanqi first laid out the blueprints and then found a tent filled with miscellaneous items.

Given the limited conditions, they had to use it as a makeshift lab.

Tu Sanqi’s toolbox was filled with her usual tools. Just in case, she brought along the cutting tool and a small photon device.

Most of Fei Yucheng’s box was filled with materials.

Tu Sanqi, putting on her laser gloves, couldn’t help but envy his stash.

Fei Yucheng reassured her, “These were bought for me by my uncle. Once we pass the Engineering Department exam and become official members, we’ll have access to the department’s materials.”

“What if we don’t pass?” Tu Sanqi asked.

“Even if we don’t pass, we’re still technicians,” Fei Yucheng said. “Technicians can use them too; it just requires advance application and extra procedures.”

Tu Sanqi relaxed.

She didn’t even know where to get the materials herself. If she had to handle it alone, she’d only be drawing diagrams in the future.

The conveyor belt wasn’t difficult to make, and they could chat about ability cannon shells while working.

Cannon shells were much more powerful than bullets. If they could make a few, it would ease a lot of pressure for Mei Jun’s team.

However, the materials they used last time were basic. After seeing the size of the zombie horde firsthand, Tu Sanqi wanted to make a more destructive shell.

As they discussed the best materials, Tu Sanqi’s hands gradually slowed.

She pursed her lips and slowly looked up.

“Actually, using geocrystal steel would be better, but the cost would be higher. Sanqi, what do you think…” Fei Yucheng began, then noticed she hadn’t responded for a long time. He looked up in puzzlement—and froze.

At the moment her hands stopped moving, Tu Sanqi handed him a gun.

Three seconds later, both instinctively fired at the two low-level zombies behind each other.

Bang! Bang!

The two zombies’ heads exploded.

It was Fei Yucheng’s first time killing zombies. Even though they were low-level, his legs felt weak.

Tu Sanqi quickly dragged the two zombie corpses outside the tent.

She remembered what Teacher Lu had said: when encountering zombies with potential (yuan-zombies), they should be incinerated completely.

After decisively burning the two zombies, Tu Sanqi grabbed Fei Yucheng, who had just come out, and ran forward.

“There might be more zombies nearby,” Tu Sanqi said. “Go inform the ability users your uncle left behind.”

Fei Yucheng didn’t dare delay, worried that a single second could let zombies seize the opportunity. He didn’t even ask what Tu Sanqi intended to do—he just nodded and ran.

Once they were a safe distance away, Tu Sanqi turned and moved toward the shadows behind the tent.

It wasn’t just possible.

There really were more zombies.

She could already hear them.

At this moment, the zombies were contesting S City with Mei Jun’s team, and their encampment was at the rear.

The rear had been cleared inch by inch by Mei Jun’s team, so there shouldn’t have been zombies…

Tu Sanqi, carrying her toolbox and three guns, crept toward the faint sounds.

Soon, the sounds became clearer:

“Hungry… eat…”“So hungry… want to eat…”“Where to… where to…”

Through her vision, she spotted a group of low-level zombies.

The garbled growls turned in her ears into a repetitive, single-minded chant.

Tu Sanqi crouched on a small mound of grass. It was pitch dark around her, but her vision remained unaffected.

Looking past the low-level zombies, she saw a batch of mid-level zombies with multicolored eyes—

They were attempting to flank and surround Mei Jun’s team at S City!

Tu Sanqi, shocked, immediately sent the coordinates to Fei Yucheng.

Fei Yucheng quickly located the ability users stationed at the encampment.

“Rui! We’ve spotted zombies!”

Zhao Rui’s expression changed. He immediately followed Fei Yucheng to the scene. On the way, Fei Yucheng explained the situation. Seeing the two smoldering ashes on the ground, Zhao Rui relaxed.

“Luckily, they’re just low-level zombies,” he said, patting Fei Yucheng on the back, then contacted other teammates to search the rest of the encampment.

Fei Yucheng also breathed a sigh of relief—until he received the coordinates and message from Tu Sanqi.

Attached was a photo.

A dense mass of zombies.

Fei Yucheng’s breath caught. He hurried to Zhao Rui and showed him Tu Sanqi’s location and the photo.

Zhao Rui: “…”Zhao Rui: “!!!”

Zhao Rui’s eyes twitched, and he immediately reported the situation to Mei Jun.

There was a zombie army approaching the rear. With only seven ability users stationed there, plus many wounded, how could they hold out?

“Your communicator doesn’t have a scanner. Don’t wander off,” Zhao Rui instructed, placing Fei Yucheng among the injured before rushing off.

“But…” Fei Yucheng began, but Zhao Rui had already flown away.

Fei Yucheng swallowed his words, staring at Tu Sanqi’s coordinates moving farther away on his communicator. His brow furrowed.

This is bad.

Tu Sanqi was surrounded by zombies!
