A sly smile crossed Cassie’s lips, and she stretched her hand toward Kael, who had just spoken those words.

“Vampire King, long time no see…”

“Seraphina?

What do you have to do with my wife?”

“Wife?” Cassie chuckled, her voice an eerie blend of several voices.

“She’s my descendant, a perfect person to destroy you.”

“No, she’s not! Let go of her!” Kael commanded, his voice sharp and his eyes glowing red.

He was about to move when she raised her hand, suspending him in the air.

“Cassie! Stop!” he shouted, but the possessed Cassie only laughed wickedly.

“I am Seraphina… I’ve come back to drag you to Hades,” she said before laughing again.

Kael called out once more.

“Cassie!”

She looked at him, her eyes locking onto his, and suddenly, she screamed, clutching her head.

“No!…” She lost balance and began to fall, but Kael rushed forward with the speed of light and caught her just in time.

“Cassie? Cassie?” he called out twice.

She slowly opened her eyes.

“Kael…” she whispered weakly, and he embraced her.

“Are you alright?” he asked.

She nodded slowly.

He gently laid her on the bed and sat beside her, his heart racing.

Had his past come back to haunt him?

Seraphina was a woman he had once loved many years ago, but she had betrayed him.

In his anguish, he had killed her.

And now she was back for what, he did not know.

After taking the unconscious Kaidon out and ordering them to take Delia away, he watched Cassie sleep peacefully.

But his heart was in chaos.

Seraphina had said that Cassie was her descendant, but he couldn’t understand how.

Cassie was a normal human, unlike Seraphina, who had been a powerful witch.

The next morning, Cassie woke up, relieved not to find Kael beside her.

She still wasn’t used to the fact that she was married to him, especially after consummating their marriage just the night before.

She got up from the bed and looked at her reflection.

Her face was pale.

As she examined herself, her eyes landed on something on her neck a small golden bat tattoo that adorned her skin.

“What’s this?” she muttered in fear, touching the mark.

The moment her fingers brushed against it, memories of the previous night flooded her mind everything that had happened and how she had felt.

But what confused her the most was Seraphina and how she was connected to her.

She quickly removed her hand from the tattoo, and the memories stopped.

Rushing to the bathroom, she grabbed a sponge and began scrubbing the mark, hoping to wash it off.

But no matter how hard she scrubbed, it wouldn’t fade.

She added soap and continued, making her neck turn red from the effort.

“It won’t wash off,” came Kael’s calm voice.

She shivered at the sound and rinsed her neck and turned to look at him in horror.

“What’s this mark?” she asked, pointing at her neck.

Kael smirked and moved closer with supernatural speed.

Standing before her, he cupped her face in his hands.

She stared at him, unable to say a word.

“It’s a mate mark,” he said in a calm tone.

“It symbolizes our love.”

Cassie’s face flushed.

“Love, huh?” she muttered under her breath.

“Take it off,” she commanded, her eyes stubborn as she stared directly at him.

Kael chuckled and brought his face close to hers.

“Should I cut out your flesh?” he asked, his tone dangerously low.

His breath brushed against Cassie’s face, making her close her eyes.

In this awkward position, she couldn’t do anything.

If she dared to move, their lips would come into contact.

But she had to do something.

Kael pressed his lips against hers, claiming them.

Cassie’s eyes widened in surprise.

She broke the kiss and pushed him away because he allowed her to.

“You’re so shameless!” she spat before fleeing from the bathroom, only to find Daisy standing outside with a food tray.

Daisy looked at Cassie and smiled, irritating her.

Cassie hated how Daisy was always around her.

She felt there was something deeper about Daisy’s presence, but her sunny behavior masked everything.

Before Cassie could say anything, Kael stepped out of the bathroom.

Daisy glanced at him and bowed.

“Leave,” he ordered coldly.

Daisy quickly placed the tray down and exited the room.

“You should leave too,” Cassie said, folding her arms across her chest as she faced Kael.

Kael chuckled.

“Don’t act cold, Cassie,” he said, moving closer.

His sapphire eyes stared deep into her light blue orbs.

He placed his hands on her waist and pulled her forward, pressing her body against his. You are reading on g.com, the official source.

Leaning down, he licked the golden bat tattoo on her neck, sending a spark of energy coursing through Cassie’s body.

“Kael, stop…” she said, looking up at him.

“Cassie…” he muttered, his voice low and seductive.

Cassie stared at him, her mind blank and her heart racing.

She looked deep into his shimmering eyes and blushed, remembering the first time they met in the forest and everything that had happened between them down to their first real encounter.

“Cassie… I love you,” Kael confessed, unable to hold back his feelings any longer.

He had loved her from the moment he first laid eyes on her, always feeling a deep connection to her.

Marrying her had never been a regret, despite the Council of Elders’ disapproval.

He had defied a law that had existed for thousands of years.

The law stated that a Vampire King must never marry a human.

He could choose any other species, but humans were seen as weak, a liability.

A human would not have the strength to protect themselves in times of danger, making the Vampire King vulnerable to losing his mate.

To prevent this, they had enforced the rule no human was meant to marry a Vampire King.

But Kael had forfeited the law for love.

Cassie’s ears burned at his confession.

She loved him too, but admitting it now felt too awkward.

She instantly remembered how she had once been pushed by a strange force to seduce Kael, unintentionally revealing her real feelings.

“I-I…” she stammered, trying to explain and clear up the misunderstanding.

Even if he was the king and they were married, she wouldn’t let him have her so easily.

Then, another thought struck her.

She recalled a rumor that Kael had multiple wives.

A surge of anger flared within her.

She hated the idea of sharing her husband with anyone else.

“Go tell that to your other wives. I don’t love you!” she said, turning to leave.

But he pulled her back.

“Look into my eyes and say it,” he commanded.

She did just that.

Staring into his eyes, words threatened to fail her, but she stood her ground.

“Go tell that to your other wives. I don’t love you!” she declared.

Kael chuckled softly.

“Cassie… are you jealous?” he asked, making her blink twice.

“N-No! Why would I be jealous if you have other wives?” she questioned.

He smirked.

“Because you love me.”
