Kael picked her up despite her resistance.

He laid her on his chest and patted her like a baby until she was silent.

“You’re normal, Cassie… You are not a vampire,” came Kael’s calm voice.Full novel: Sold to the ruthless vampire king — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He could see her thirst for blood, but he was sure she wasn’t a full vampire.

She wasn’t giving off a vampire aura at least not fully.

It was faint, different from the usual aura.

“Then what was that?” Cassie asked, her voice low.

Kael laid her down on the bed and lay beside her.

“I don’t know, but I’m sure you’re not a full vampire,” he assured her.

She breathed out heavily as Kael lay her on the bed and wrapped his arms around her and kissed her hair.

“Cassie… I was lonely for the past month. Why did you leave me alone?” Kael’s voice was bitter.

Cassie smiled.

“Do you really miss me, or are you just flattering me?” she asked.

“I’m not flattering you. I really miss you,” he said, planting another kiss on Cassie’s hair.

“Isn’t the princess keeping you enough company?” Cassie raised a brow in question.

Kael let out a deep breath.

“No, she’s not. She’s just my friend, not my wife.”

“You’re planning to make her the queen next, right?” Cassie asked again, making Kael frown.

“What makes you think that?” he asked, his face etched with worry.

“I know… If you aren’t planning to make her queen, then why haven’t you made me one?” Cassie asked, making Kael laugh.

“Are you willing to be the next queen? I mean, I would love to make you my queen.”

“Then what’s stopping you?” Cassie shot back, not giving him a chance to hesitate.

“Nothing, it’s just that…”

“Good! Enough! Don’t give me excuses. I already know you have someone else in mind. I know I’m human and weak, so I wouldn’t be fit to rule alongside you on the throne,” Cassie said and closed her eyes, letting out her frustration.

She knew deep down that her identity had changed, but she wanted to keep acting human for a while to know Kael’s true intentions toward her.

“No, that’s not it… I’m trying to protect you. The council is not in support of our marriage, but I married you because I love you. I’m afraid that making you queen will put a target on you. Powerful princesses will come against you, and my enemies will try to use you to threaten me. Exposing you to that world would bring a lot of danger… eventually, it would be a threat to your life,” Kael explained.

She never expected others to see her as weak.

Hearing this didn’t make her sad.

Instead, it made her happy because now, she would prove them wrong.

While she was in a coma, she had found herself in a magical, ancient world where she had a family… one different from her own.

There, she had the chance to meet a man who taught her ancient magic.

She was his disciple, and he taught her many magical spells.

During her time in the ancient world, she discovered that her true lineage was connected to the witches.

However, she couldn’t understand why both of her real parents were human unless one of them was hiding the truth.

This was something she had to uncover.

There, she met Seraphina, who was said to be her distant cousin.

Cassie learned that Seraphina had once loved a vampire king but later betrayed him.

In his rage, he killed her.

Now, Seraphina appeared to Cassie in spirit form, offering to help free her from Kael’s grasp if she was willing.

But Cassie didn’t trust her.

Instead, she shut her out.

Cassie didn’t say anything in response to Kael’s words.

Instead, she closed her eyes, trying to sleep.

“Are you going to snub me forever?” came Kael’s pitiful voice, almost making Cassie laugh out loud.

She had never heard Kael sound this way before.

“What do you want? I need sleep.”

“Sleep? You’ve been sleeping for a month now. Aren’t you tired?” Kael asked, making Cassie smile.

“I’m not tired.”

“Then let’s do something fun,” Kael said with a smirk.

Cassie pushed him away and glared at him. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.

“Aren’t you ashamed to say that?”

“Of course not. Do you know how much I’ve missed you?” he said, leaning closer and kissing her neck.

“Stop it! I’m not ready for this,” Cassie said, turning her back to him and closing her eyes again.

Kael watched her until she fell into a deep sleep.

Several hours later, she woke up to find that Kael was no longer there.

“I shouldn’t expect much,” she muttered, getting out of bed.

She walked to the wardrobe, grabbing a towel before heading to the bathroom.

As she entered, her eyes landed on a curtain covering a door she hadn’t noticed before.

Curiosity took over, and she pulled the curtain aside, revealing a beautiful space with a pool.

A smile spread across her lips as she let the towel fall and gently stepped into the water.

The coldness of it soothed her.

She had just begun swimming when she suddenly felt movement in the water.

Her body tensed as she looked around, spotting someone beneath the surface.

She gasped, preparing to move, but before she could react, the person emerged.

She screamed.

“What are you doing here?” she asked in fright, clutching her chest.

Kael smiled.

“I was just swimming.”

Cassie’s eyes traveled over him his long, wet hair clung to his skin, water dripping down his muscular chest.

Her cheeks burned.

Then she realized Kael was staring at her the same way.

It dawned on her that she was naked.

Though her lower body was hidden beneath the water, her boobs were exposed.

She immediately covered herself with her hands and turned away.

“Leave…” she said, embarrassment washing over her.

Kael laughed, moving closer until he wrapped his arms around her from behind.

“Kael…” Her voice came out unusually soft, her body betraying her.

She was completely allured by his touch.
