“Do you have Tang swords? The kind that can cut off a person’s head with a single slash. Money isn’t a problem.”
Ling Yan asked while playing with the dagger in her hand.
“Miss, you’re joking, right?”
The shop assistant gave an awkward laugh when he heard her.
“I never joke around. Since you don’t have one, I’ll leave.”
Ling Yan put down the dagger and was about to walk out.
“Miss, please wait. Come with me.”
Seeing that she was really about to leave, the shop assistant hurriedly tried to stop her.
Ling Yan followed him into a secret room, where the shop assistant asked her to wait.
“Take a look at this one. What do you think? This is something our boss has kept in his personal collection.”
The shop assistant brought out a rectangular box, removed the lid, and showed her the sword inside.
Ling Yan fell in love with it at first sight. The scabbard was completely black, with intricate patterns carved across its surface.
She picked up the sword and drew it from the scabbard. A flash of cold light instantly swept across the room.
“I’ll take it. Charge my card.”
Ling Yan did not even ask the price before deciding to buy it.
The shop assistant happily took her card, but just as he was about to leave, he asked, “Miss, is there anything else you need?”
“Pack up these daggers too.”
Ling Yan bought all the melee weapons that caught her eye.
After finishing everything she needed to do in America, she booked a flight to Japan for the following day. Of course, she booked two tickets again. This clingy man had no intention of leaving her now.
“Sister, can you tell me why you’re buying all these knives? And the firearms too?”
After they returned to the hotel, Xiao Jue did not go to his own room. Instead, he went straight to Ling Yan’s room.
“I’m buying them to kill people, of course. Otherwise, why would I buy them?”
Ling Yan answered his question with another question.
“Sister, don’t you trust me?”
Xiao Jue knew that it could not possibly be as simple as she claimed.
“This is my secret. It concerns my life. Do you really think I would entrust my life to someone I’ve only known for a few days?”
Ling Yan looked at him as she asked.
After hearing her words, Xiao Jue let out a low laugh. He suddenly pulled a dagger from his body and, before she could react, drove it toward his own chest.
Fortunately, Ling Yan was quick enough to grab his hand. Even with her speed, however, the dagger still pierced into his flesh.
“Are you crazy? If you want to die, go to your own room. Don’t dirty mine.”
Ling Yan looked at him coldly.
“Sister, didn’t you say that you can’t entrust your life to someone you’ve only just met? But I want to entrust my life to you.”
Xiao Jue paid no attention to his bleeding wound and continued looking at her with unwavering determination.
Ling Yan irritably pulled out the dagger, took the medical kit provided by the hotel, and began treating his wound.
“Sister, I’m just worried about you. What kind of person would make you travel thousands of miles to America to buy weapons just to kill them?”
Xiao Jue stared at her stubbornly.
After bandaging his wound, Ling Yan sat in a chair with a cold expression and looked at him.
“If knowing the answer means you’ll lose your life, do you still want to know?”
Ling Yan asked.
“I do. If it concerns Sister’s safety, then I definitely need to know, even if it costs me my life.”
Xiao Jue looked at her with determination.
“We’ve only known each other for a few days. Why are you doing this? Don’t tell me it’s because I helped you get your family assets back, so you want to repay me. I don’t believe that.”
Ling Yan was becoming more and more unable to understand this villain.
“Sister, do you believe in love at first sight? I didn’t before either, but the moment I saw you at the banquet, I believed in it. I fell in love with you at first sight.”
As Xiao Jue said this, he instantly reverted to his sweet, puppy-like appearance.
All Ling Yan could do was silently laugh to herself. It seemed this troublesome man really was impossible to get rid of.
Thinking that his constant presence would make it impossible for her to transfer supplies into her space, she figured that perhaps telling him about the apocalypse would give them some time apart.
So she decided to tell him about the apocalypse. Of course, she definitely could not tell him that she had transmigrated into a novel or that she had been reborn, so she decided to tell him about a prophetic dream instead.
“Actually, I bought these weapons to prepare for the apocalypse. I had a prophetic dream. I dreamed that the apocalypse would arrive in a little over four months.”
Ling Yan looked directly into his eyes as she spoke.
Xiao Jue desperately tried to find any hint that she was joking on her face, but there was none. Her expression was completely serious.
“So that’s why you liquidated all your overseas assets, even selling them below market value. No wonder I received news from China these past few days that Ling Corporation seemed to be dealing with some difficult situation and was liquidating its assets.”
Xiao Jue remembered one of his subordinates calling him about it.
At the time, he had also assumed that Ling Corporation had encountered some serious problem, which was why Sister had gone abroad to raise funds. Now, everything finally made sense.
Xiao Jue took out his phone and called China.
“Sell all the shares our company owns as quickly as possible. Give everyone in the company double their usual salary. I’ll return to China tomorrow to handle everything else.”
After saying that, he hung up without waiting for the person on the other end to react.
“Sister, I probably won’t be able to accompany you to Japan. Time is tight, so I need to return to China and finish handling everything.”
Xiao Jue looked at her apologetically.
“What if the apocalypse never comes? Then all the effort you’ve put in over the years will have been wasted.”
Ling Yan had not expected Xiao Jue to believe her so completely.
Under normal circumstances, shouldn’t he have argued with her instead?
“It doesn’t matter. At worst, I’ll start over from scratch. Besides, I believe Sister.”
Xiao Jue replied.
Ling Yan had completely run out of patience with him. She waved her hand.
“Go back and rest. You still have to catch a flight tomorrow. And don’t get that wound wet for the next few days.”
Because they were pressed for time, the two of them immediately became busy the next day.
The first thing Xiao Jue did after returning to China was go back to the company and organize all the assets before finding someone to take over the company.
That person was none other than Xiao Shan, although it was the company’s vice president who handled the negotiations with him.
“Boss, you went abroad with Ling Yan this time, so why are you selling the company as soon as you get back? Who did the Ling family offend?”
After completing the transaction with Xiao Shan, Sun Hao rushed straight into the president’s office.
“Go and have these villas renovated according to the blueprints. Then have someone prepare all the supplies listed here.”
Xiao Jue did not answer his question. Instead, he handed him two sheets of paper.
“Damn, are you planning to open a chain of huge supermarkets across the entire country? But you don’t need to sell the company just to open supermarkets.”
Sun Hao really could not understand him.
“Just do as I say. In particular, make sure the villas are fitted with the best materials. If you really don’t know how to handle it, ask Butler Li to teach you. Hurry up and make the arrangements. You only have four months.”
Xiao Jue ignored his complaints and went off to handle his own affairs after saying this.
And so, Ling Yan and Xiao Jue each kept themselves busy with their own preparations. Since the clingy man was no longer following her around, Ling Yan was able to store a large amount of supplies in her space.
As luck would have it, when she went to another country to stock up on oil, she happened to encounter a gang involved in an armed robbery. In the end, without anyone noticing, she acquired another batch of firearms.
When there was only one month left, Ling Yan finally set foot on Chinese soil.
“Miss, you’ve worked hard.”
Li Quan had already been waiting for her at the airport.
“Uncle Li, it’s been more than three months since I last saw you, and you’ve gotten darker!”
Ling Yan joked as she looked at him.
“Haha, getting a tan is healthy. Are you going abroad again after coming back this time?”
After the two of them left the airport and got into the car, Li Quan asked her.
“I won’t be going anywhere too far. I’ll use the remaining time to stock up on supplies around here one more time. By the way, Uncle Li, is the villa finished?”
That was what Ling Yan cared about most.
“It’s done. I bought another villa next door and had the two villas connected. We also have plenty of supplies. We’re living there now.”
Li Quan briefly explained the situation with the villas.
