Ling Yan woke up in complete darkness, though she had no idea how much time had passed.
She glanced out the window and saw that the moon was already high in the sky.
“I remember hearing some kind of sound before I passed out.” Ling Yan tried to recall what had happened before she fainted, but no matter how hard she thought about it, she could not remember.
She was not the type to make things difficult for herself, so since she could not remember, she simply stopped thinking about it.
Ling Yan closed her eyes and activated her mental power to see if it had improved.
“Huh? How did this guy get here?” Ling Yan discovered that her mental power could now extend much farther, enough for her to sense everything downstairs.
Xiao Jue had originally been sitting on the sofa waiting for Ling Yan when he suddenly felt as though someone was watching him. He immediately became alert and looked toward the direction of the gaze, but there was no one behind him.
He sat on the sofa with his brows tightly furrowed. What he had just felt definitely had not been his imagination. Someone had been watching him.
However, that feeling was somewhat familiar, almost exactly like the feeling he got whenever Sister looked at him.
The moment Ling Yan realized that Xiao Jue had noticed her, she withdrew her mental power. She had not expected him to be so sensitive.
Because using her mental power before passing out had left her entire body sticky and uncomfortable, Ling Yan went to the bathroom to take another shower.
After coming out, she did not rush to check how the space had changed. Instead, she dried her hair before opening the door and heading downstairs.
“Sister, you’re awake. You must be hungry. I’ll go to the kitchen and bring the food over.” The moment Xiao Jue saw her come downstairs, he hurried to the kitchen to help bring out the dishes.
“Why did you come here? Have you finished stocking up on supplies?” Ling Yan asked as she looked at him.
“I’ve almost finished gathering everything. I bought two villas next door to Sister, so I can put all the supplies in the basements,” Xiao Jue answered obediently.
“Let’s eat. Afterward, go back. Uncle Li and I still have some things to take care of tomorrow, so we won’t keep you here to play,” Ling Yan said after hearing his answer.
“Sister, can I go with you?” Xiao Jue was very reluctant to stay far away from her.
He had been separated from Sister for the past few months because he had no choice while gathering supplies.
“No. There are some things that are only convenient for me to stock up on by myself,” Ling Yan refused decisively.
Xiao Jue was very unhappy at being rejected, but then he thought about it again. At least Sister was in China now, which meant they would definitely have more chances to see each other in the future. Thinking about that, his mood improved again.
Ling Yan and Li Quan watched him go from unhappy to happy in an instant. The two exchanged a glance and shrugged, neither of them able to understand what was going on in his mind.
After dinner, Ling Yan said goodbye to the two of them and went straight back to her room.
Once inside, she locked the door from the inside, then sat down on the bed and entered the space to take a look.
“Damn, is this really my space? The changes are way too huge.”
The space had expanded several times over.
The farmland Ling Yan had been longing for had appeared as well. Beside it was a small stream, and beyond the stream was a pasture.
It looked like she would have to add another task to tomorrow’s schedule, buying livestock.
She walked over for a closer look and saw that the stream was so clear that she could see the stones beneath the water.
“Haha, this is practically my lifesaver!”
During the apocalypse, water sources would become severely contaminated and could not be consumed.
A person could survive seven days without food, but they definitely could not survive seven days without water.
Even so, despite having a water source in her space, she still had to stockpile water.
She had already stored a great deal of water over the past few months.
But she liked to have a backup plan for everything she did. That way, even if something unexpected happened, she would not be thrown into a panic.
She then walked beneath a tree and looked up.
There were many brightly colored fruits hanging from its branches.
She had not even had any fruit after dinner yet, but the tree was so tall that she had no ladder to climb up and pick them.
Forget it. She would bring a ladder in later. As for climbing the tree herself, she had no intention of doing that.
Just as she was about to look away, a sky blue fruit suddenly floated down from the tree and stopped in front of her.
Ling Yan raised an eyebrow and reached out to catch it. She had not expected that she could use her mental power to pick fruit as well.
Then could she use her mental power to farm too? That way, she would not have to exhaust herself turning over the soil.
With that thought, she immediately put it into practice. Ling Yan concentrated her mental power on the farmland and watched it closely.
Before long, the soil really began turning over on its own. Unfortunately, Ling Yan had not stored any seeds in her space, otherwise she would have planted the entire field that very night.
After using her mental power for a while, she began to feel somewhat tired. Looking at the icy blue fruit in her hand, she started eating it without hesitation.
“It’s so good, and there’s so much juice. It even tastes like blueberries. I wonder if the other fruits taste different depending on their colors.”
Curious, Ling Yan picked a green one and a purple one and ate them as well.
“Sure enough, every color has a different flavor.”
After finishing the fruits, she continued wandering around the space.
“Aren’t there supposed to be houses when a space expands? Could this space still expand again?”
But when she looked around and saw that there was no longer any fog blocking her view, she dismissed the thought. This should already be the largest this space could become.
“Huh? There’s actually a well here.”
When Ling Yan reached another area, she saw a sign standing there.
The sign read:
“Hello, little friend who has found this place. I am the creator of this space. Since this was the first space I ever refined, I gave it a special meaning.
This should be the smallest space I have ever refined. The water in this well was taken from a heavenly spirit spring in the Celestial Realm when I became an immortal. Originally, I intended to keep carrying it with me, but I was severely injured during a battle between immortals and demons.
When I realized that I was about to perish, I threw this space down through a rift in time and space. I hoped that the spring water inside the space could help mortals who wished to become immortals.
Of course, not everyone can open this space. Only those recognized by the space itself can freely enter and leave it.”
Ling Yan stared at the words on the sign, completely at a loss for words.
No wonder Old Man Jin had spent so much time researching it without ever figuring it out.
How could something from the Celestial Realm be something an ordinary mortal could easily study?
Looking at the spirit spring, Ling Yan was reminded of the descriptions she had read in novels.
If it could really cleanse the impurities from the body, then she had to give some to Uncle Li as well.
She remembered that in the novel, neither Uncle Li nor the Young Lady had awakened a Supernatural Ability.
Uncle Li had shown foresight at the very beginning and used his money to buy a large amount of supplies.
Because of that, their lives were relatively comfortable in the early days.
But after the natural disasters passed, people without Supernatural Abilities could only rely on their physical strength to kill zombies.
To make sure the Young Lady would not go hungry in the future, Li Quan joined a team and went outside to kill zombies.
At first, Ling Yan had accepted Li Quan’s efforts without a second thought, but it was not long before rumors began spreading.
People said that she had sold her body, which was why Li Quan was risking his life outside to kill zombies and exchange their supplies for her.
When has this Young Lady ever been treated like that?
To prove that she was not that kind of person, she insisted on going out with the team one time.
Li Quan could not talk her out of it, so he had no choice but to take her along. On the way, he repeatedly warned her that once they reached their destination, she absolutely had to listen to him.
But the Young Lady had been protected far too well. Once she was actually on the battlefield, all she could do was tremble in fear.
As a result, she hid inside the vehicle the entire time after they arrived.
There would have been nothing wrong if she had simply stayed inside the vehicle, but she just had to seek trouble.
When she heard the sounds outside gradually die down, she looked out and saw that no one was around, so she opened the vehicle door and got out.
