“So that’s how you address each other now? ‘Baby’?”

Zhou Lingjing’s low, husky voice sounded.

Su Zhaotang retorted.

“The backseat is only this big. Unless I were deaf, I couldn’t help but hear,” Zhou Lingjing replied calmly, his hands elegantly folded on his knees.

“Hmph, that’s a popular term of endearment among us girlfriends. You wouldn’t understand,” Su Zhaotang replied cheerfully.

“We’re legally married now, and I’ve never heard you call me by such an endearing name,” Zhou Lingjing turned toward her, his dark, deep eyes gazing at her like a small whirlpool, as if capable of pulling someone in.

Seeing his handsome face draw closer, Su Zhaotang leaned back slightly and stammered, “W-well, we just got our marriage certificate. We’re not that familiar yet. Zhao Xi and I have known each other for so long, so of course we call each other more intimately.”

“Let me correct you—I’ve known you since you were three,” Zhou Lingjing said, implying that if it were about time, he had known her longer.

“But you weren’t around for me after that! Zhao Xi may have met me later, but she’s been with me for a long time,” Su Zhaotang replied confidently.

“Alright, alright, my fault. I should have stayed and grown up with our Zhaozhao,” Zhou Lingjing raised his hand to pat her head, coaxing her.

“I didn’t mean it that way,” she muttered, pouting.

Suddenly, Zhou Lingjing changed the subject. “I’m going on a business trip to Germany tomorrow. Is there anything you’d like me to bring back for you, hmm?”

“Walden’s Finest Candles, the handmade scented candles from Germany. I want those,” Su Zhaotang said without hesitation, after all, she had been eyeing those candles for a long time.

“Thank you, my dear Jing Gege,” she clasped her hands together and placed them against her face, revealing her smiling deer-like eyes.

“Now you’re being sweet,” Zhou Lingjing chuckled softly.

Soon, the car slowly came to a stop in front of the Su family villa. The driver’s voice came from the front, “Mr. Zhou, we’ve arrived.”

“I’ll get off now. Bye!” Su Zhaotang said cheerfully, hopping out of the car with her small crossbody bag.

“Aren’t you going to say something to me?” Zhou Lingjing narrowed his eyes, giving her a threatening look.

Su Zhaotang quickly caught on. “Have a safe trip tomorrow~”

“Heartless,” Zhou Lingjing said calmly, looking at her.

“That’s not true. I’ll wait for you obediently back home,” she said, pretending to be well-behaved.

“I’ll go in now,” she said, glancing at him.

“Go ahead,” Zhou Lingjing nodded toward her.

As soon as Su Zhaotang entered the house, she met her mother’s expectant eyes.

“What’s wrong? You miss me so much after just half a day?” Su Zhaotang asked.

“Hurry, hurry! You’ve gotten your marriage certificate, right? Let me see it,” her mother, Su Mom, rushed to Su Zhaotang’s side, excitedly tugging at her arm.

“Oh, Mom, you’re acting like you’re the one who married Zhou Lingjing,” Su Zhaotang teased.

“Stop joking around. Show it to me quickly.”

Su Zhaotang took the certificate out of her bag and handed it to her.

When Su Mom, Liu Xinruo, opened it and saw the photo of the two, she couldn’t help but beam with joy.

“What a perfect match—a talented man and a beautiful woman,” she said happily.

“Alright, stop staring. You’re going to burn a hole through the photo,” Su Zhaotang snatched the certificate back.

“Alright, alright, I’ll give it back to you. As long as you’ve claimed it, that’s fine.”

Liu Xinruo went along with her. After reading it, she leisurely strolled back to her bedroom, tapping on her phone as she walked. There was no need to guess—she was definitely messaging her dad.

Not long after the Su family finished dinner that evening, Zhao Xi arrived in her flashy red Ferrari.

She wore a loose white T-shirt paired with light blue denim shorts and comfortable flats, exuding a natural, casual vibe.

Her face was bare, but her skin was fair and smooth, with delicate features—a true beauty.

Naturally, her outfit didn’t quite match the imposing appearance of the Ferrari.

Zhao Xi often visited the Su family to see Su Zhaotang, so everyone there was quite familiar with her. They told her the young lady was in her bedroom.

After greeting Su Dad and Su Mom in the living room, Su Zhaotang hurried off to find her friend.

When she knocked and entered, Zhao Xi saw Su Zhaotang wearing a nightgown, lazily sprawled on the bed playing with her phone.

Zhao Xi lay down beside her and let out a heavy sigh.

“What’s wrong? You seem down,” Su Zhaotang asked softly.

Zhao Xi stared at the ceiling and murmured, “I haven’t landed any suitable roles lately. I’ve been idle, and my parents are actually happy about it. They’d love for me to quit the industry and come home, always saying it’s not good for me to be in the public eye.”

“Hey, it’s fine. When you don’t have work, just focus on honing your acting skills. You’re so smart, Miss Zhao. You could also take a vacation and relax.”

Su Zhaotang comforted her.

Zhao Xi turned and hugged her, whining, “Wahhh, Zhaozhao, I envy you. You have a job and a husband now. Next year, you’ll probably have a little baby too, won’t you?”

Su Zhaotang immediately covered her mouth. “What nonsense are you talking about? A baby? Don’t jump so far ahead.”

“Hahaha, can’t even joke about it?” Zhao Xi teased her.

“But seriously, are you adjusting well to suddenly being married to Zhou Lingjing?”

“It’s not too bad. At least I spent some time with Zhou Lingjing when we were kids. Besides, he’s emotionally stable, handsome, comes from a good family, excels at his work, and doesn’t have any ambiguous women around him. I think marrying him is actually quite nice.”

“After all, rather than finding an unstable partner, marrying Zhou Lingjing is the better choice,” Su Zhaotang said softly.

Zhao Xi slapped her on the butt and said with a hint of jealousy, “Don’t act like you’re settling when you’ve got it so good. Is there any other man in the capital who can compare to Zhou Lingjing?”

“So I’m the only one left alone, huh?” Zhao Xi wailed.

“Alright, alright, stop whining. Here’s something for you, to cheer you up.”

Su Zhaotang got up from the bed and walked to the walk-in closet.

The floor of the walk-in closet was covered with a soft carpet, and the walls were lined with racks of clothes in a dazzling array of styles and colors. Several large display cabinets were filled with luxury bags from top brands, some of which were already out of stock in the market.

It was clear how indulgent and doting the Su family was toward their daughter.

Su Zhaotang took out an exquisitely packaged box from a small compartment and handed it to Zhao Xi mysteriously.

Zhao Xi excitedly opened it and immediately hugged Su Zhaotang joyfully.

“Ahh, I love you so much, Zhaozhao, come here, give me a kiss!”

With that, she planted a big kiss on her face.

Her Zhaozhao was just so generous—a Hermès bag worth over 300,000 yuan, given away just like that, and she even got it without needing an appointment, wuwu.
