20 – Their First Meeting
Fu Chenxuan leaned against the doorframe, a slight curl appearing on his lips at the sound of Chu Ruan’s voice. He feigned ignorance, “Is that not allowed?”
Chu Ruan’s face flushed crimson. Well… it wasn’t that it wasn’t allowed, but… but… oh dear, hurry up and leave! I need to take a bath.
Hearing her soft, animal-like whimpers from behind, Fu Chenxuan decided not to tease her further. He chuckled lightly, “Alright, I’ll go then.”
Only after hearing the door click shut did Chu Ruan relax, covering her burning cheeks with her hands before putting her clothes aside to bathe.
After freshening up, Chu Ruan hugged her pillow, intending to return to her own room to sleep.
The thing was… she wasn’t sure how still she slept. What if there was leakage and she stained the man’s bed? She would never be able to face him again.
Just as Chu Ruan opened the door to leave, the man wrapped his arm around her waist, “Where do you think you’re going?”
“I… I’m going back to my room,” Chu Ruan stammered, her face reddening.
Fu Chenxuan initially wanted to carry her, but remembering she wasn’t feeling well, he instead guided her by the waist back into the room and sat her down on the bed.
Chu Ruan shrank back slightly, her dark, luminous eyes fixed unblinkingly on the man leaning before her, “Wh-what are you going to do?”
Fu Chenxuan discovered that when his little treasure spoke slowly like this, she possessed a uniquely adorable innocence.
She truly was a treasure heaven had bestowed upon him.
Fu Chenxuan couldn’t help but recall the first time he saw Chu Ruan.
It was in the back garden of the Altun Hotel. Tired of dealing with the flattery in the banquet hall and troubled about some shipment issues, he had lit a cigarette and gone to the back garden.
The garden featured a large fountain. As Fu Chenxuan stood by the fountain pondering, his ears caught a faint sound, and his eyes followed the noise.
Under the moonlight, what appeared to be a dark elf was dancing on tiptoe in the fountain’s outer pool, barefoot. High-heeled shoes lay discarded on the edge of the pool, her skirt casually tied up to reveal two slender, straight legs.
The girl’s movements couldn’t be called elegant or sophisticated, but there was something about her clumsy, beginner-like form that carried a sense of freedom, as if she might soar into the night sky.
The fountain’s water obscured Fu Chenxuan’s figure. The girl stopped to kick at the water droplets, but just as she was about to circle around to where Fu Chenxuan stood, she seemed to remember something urgent. She hurried out of the fountain pool, put on her high heels, let down her skirt, and rushed back toward the banquet hall.
Before leaving, she seemed to sense someone’s presence and glanced in Fu Chenxuan’s direction before turning away.
A fleeting glimpse of breathtaking beauty.
The cigarette in Fu Chenxuan’s hand smoldered, its red tip glowing and fading like the light in the man’s eyes at that moment.
This was his first encounter with her.
Fu Chenxuan discarded the cigarette butt and followed her into the banquet hall, leading to everything that came after.
Snapping back to the present, Fu Chenxuan looked at the exquisitely beautiful girl before him and chuckled softly, “I don’t want to do anything. I just want to hold you while we sleep.”
Just as Chu Ruan was about to explain, a maid knocked on the door, “Sir, the brown sugar water for the young madam is ready.”
Fu Chenxuan acknowledged and got up to bring it to Chu Ruan. She quickly took it herself, murmuring her thanks, “Thank you.”
For some reason, though she could remain composed when facing Chu Lanyan, whenever she encountered Fu Chenxuan, she reverted to feeling like the fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl who had just arrived in the bustling city—shy, embarrassed, and timid.
Chu Ruan lowered her eyelashes, thinking the brown sugar water was too sweet.
The next day, while Fu Chenxuan was at the company, Yexiao knocked and entered, “Master, there’s news from the fashion department.”Fu Chenxuan’s business empire was vast, and many people were unaware that he was the president of several companies. For convenience, they referred to him by the industry he operated in.
“The young madam’s younger sister has applied for a modeling job.”
