"Fuck!"
Michael’s eyes shot open, and he jolted his body upright, breathing heavily.
"What the hell?" He blinked and looked around, his head was still heavy, but the roaring wind of the abyss was gone.
Instead, he found himself in a quiet room lined with medical beds. Machines stood beside them, their lights blinking softly and giving off low, steady beeps.
The air felt cold and sterile, carrying a faint scent of disinfectants.
He tried to move, but something tugged at him.
Looking down, he saw wires and tubes connected to his body, leading into one of the machines beside his bed.
"An ECG monitor?" Why the hell am I plugged to a hospital monitor?" For a moment, he just stared confused, trying to understand how he ended up here.
"That may have been my fault." A voice caught Michael’s attention, and he turned to his right.
"Heh heh, I may have accidentally knocked the shit out of you, you have been unconscious for two days now." Mr. Jin sat across from him at the other end of the room in a chair, both hands resting on his legs, as he chuckled briefly.
"Although I must say, I’m impressed, it would have left any one bedridden for quite a while, but you just slept it off."
Michael’s eyes remained expressionless as he looked around once more. "What the hell is going on, what happened back there?"
Mr Jin crossed his arms with a sigh. "As you would have guessed, I’m an Evolver, although I don’t recall ever announcing myself as a Null. Well, yeah that pretty much explains it all." He relaxed into his chair.
"Now I have some questions for you." Mr. Jin’s expression darkened immediately. He leaned forward in his chair, his eyes fixed coldly on Michael as he interlocked his fingers. "How are you still alive?"
"How? Weren’t you the one that saved me?" Michael replied.
"..." Mr Jin stared silently for a moment, then he said. "No. In contrary, I got a call from the principal of Midgard with orders to search for the Michael Dreyar. By the time I found you, not only did you die, but the beast of the abyss had devoured you halfway. I chased the beasts and killed it, but when I returned to retrieve your body, you were unharmed, like it never happened. How did you do it? Is that one of your abilities?"
"Abilities? I don’t have any abilities." His eyes jerked a bit as a thought crossed his mind. "Unless..."
Michael immediately recalled the voice he heard in the darkness after he was devoured alive.
Then he remembered the several system notifications suddenly appeared before his eyes. Among them, one specific panel jogged his memory.
The SSS Talent, First Origin.
’I...’ He stared at his palms. ’Actually activated an Origin? But how... I maxed up my three attempts... I see, that’s it...’
He remembered the first panel that showed up.
’I met the requirements for activating my dormant Origin? Does that mean I had an origin all along? And not just any origin, the first origin. And this... System, was blocking me from activating it?’
"I see." Mr Jin’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts. He didn’t need to question him further, from just a single glance he could tell from the uncertainty Micheal battled within. New chapters come out on g.com first.
In-between the time he chased down the Abyssal Tyrant and got back to retrieve his body, something must have happened that allowed Michael to activate his Origin, and it was something powerful enough to revert his body back to it’s original state.
"In any case, you’re now an Evolver, and one different from the rest."
"Is that why you had me plugged to this fake ECG?"
"Heh." Mr Jin grinned with crossed arms. "You knew."
"It’s like you said, somehow I was unharmed, so there’s no need to go to such lengths."
"So that’s it? Hm, next time, I’ll be sure to knock you out cold."
"That won’t happen again."
"In any case it looks like your execution to the abyss was ordered by the prince of Midgard, now that you managed to escape death, what do you want to do now Michael?"
It sounded more like an attempt to test his resolve and goals rather than genuine concern for a student he’d thought before.
But Michael? He was already far gone, beyond the point of consoling.
It didn’t take much time before putting two and two together, if what the system information says was true, then he is indeed the exiled prince of Midgard.
The memory of the Raphael’s head being eaten clean off suddenly came rushing back to Micheal.
His fingers tightened into a fist, his knuckles trembled as he gritted his teeth hard. His eyes darkened as he remembered the faces of the two men who had sentenced him to death.
"The royal family of Midgard... Those bastards are the ones responsible for his death..."
Mr. Jin stared silently at Michael his rage nearly consumed him. The mask still made it difficult to see his expression clearly, but there was something in his eyes that showed his deep sympathy.
After all, Michael was forced to watch his best friend, the only person he could consider a friend in this world after everything he had been through, die right before his eyes.
Then with a determined gaze, Michael said. "No matter what, I will avenge him and kill the royal family, I will be the one to personally send them to hell. Only then will he have solace.’
Jin let out a soft sigh. "That’s a scary thing to say kid, besides how are you going to do that? The royal family is surrounded by Evolvers beyond what you could ever imagine."
"Then teach me."
Mr. Jin laughed softly, tapping his leg with his left hand as he shook his head slightly. But when he looked at Michael again, his laughter began to fade.
Michael’s face had changed changed, his eyes were cold and unwavering, filled with a stone-cold resolve.
"You’re serious?"
"Yes."
It wasn’t that Mr. Jin didn’t believe Michael could become a strong Evolver or actually kill the royal family, it was the uncertain information they had on him. You are reading on g.com, the official source.
They still didn’t know what kind of Origin Michael activated, nor could they explain why his natural energy was so pitifully low, yet somehow, Michael had been able to revert his body back to a state of complete recovery.
There were just too many unanswered questions about him.
"Fine then, I’ll teach you, just only so you won’t get yourself killed easily." Mr Jin grinned. "Alright kid, seeing as you aren’t that severely injured and nothing’s going to make you change your mind, let’s go."
..
Mr. Jin walked through the hallway with Michael right besides him, drawing multiple confused and surprised stares from the people around him.
Eventually, they stopped in front of a door. Nailed above it was a simple metal plaque marked with the words [Class C].
Mr Jin reached for the handle, pushed the door open, and stepped inside.
Micheal’s eyes immediately swept across the spacious, beautifully decorated classroom. The room was far more advanced than an ordinary school classroom, with sleek desks, glowing panels, and various pieces of equipment designed for students who possessed supernatural abilities.
Every student inside wore the academy’s specialized uniform. It resembled a traditional school uniform at first glance, but it had been designed for Evolvers.
Their fitted jackets were reinforced with lightweight protective material, while thin energy-conductive lines ran along the sleeves and collar.
The trousers, short skirts with high knee socks and shoes were equally durable, allowing them to move freely during combat training without restricting their movements.
The moment Mr. Jin entered, every conversation between the teacher and students in the classroom stopped.
One by one, the students turned toward him, their eyes immediately settling on Mr. Jin carrying a grown boy over his shoulder.
"It’s Mr Jin." A whisper flew.
"Seriously!? You mean the Mr Jin!?" Another flew.
"I can’t believe it... He’s here, in our class?"
"But who’s that besides him?"
"Mr Jin." The teacher who stood in front of his desk addressing the students said, approaching Mr Jin. "What a surprise, what brings a man of your status to class C?"
"Vance, you’re as flattering as ever. I’m here to drop off a new student in the academy."
"A new student?" The teacher — Alister Vance raised a brow, a student at this time of the semester? It was unheard of.
Vance turned to look at Michael. "You mean him?"
"That’s right, I know it’s kind of a rush, but starting today, he’ll be a member of Class C."
