The forest was eerie and quiet.

In the true outlands, there was barely any animals.

This remained the same in this strange place.Full novel: SSS-Rank Lord Supreme: The Ultimate Devourer — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

As they went forward, everyone began to feel uncomfortable.

It felt like there were strange eyes watching them.

Following their every steps.

It was deeply disturbing.

Their eyes darted around, but it was just the trees around them.

Nothing else.

Everyone’s eyes darted to the trees around them, searching for whatever it was.

Seeing nothing, it didn’t relieve the uncomfortable feeling that plagued them.

The eerie feeling only intensified.

Neo’s perception flared with an intense warning.

His hand had drawn the sword and swung before he could truly process what had caused it.

Something fell down.

A hand that looked like something between a bone and wood.

The color looked like ash.

The others noticed, and Mia immediately gave an order.

“Shield!”

Lancelot already had his shield before him.

This time when he infused his aura into the shield, it created a lot of small transparent shield that interlocked and created a dome around everyone.

Then they saw them.

The strangest things they had ever came across.

They looked like human skeletons but their bodies seem to be made of wood.

They came out of the trees, and the ground.

Their appearance was ethereal but they were very much real.

They became easier to perceive as they came out in droves.

They were the eyes that had been watching their every move, and plaguing them with that uncomfortable feeling.

There were more than hundred of them.

They came from all corners, appearing to be everywhere, as they surrounded their little dome.

There was a deeply uncomfortable wail that came from them as they stared at the five humans inside the dome.

The people inside also stared back, deeply wary.

This was going to be very tough.

This was a thought that came to Neo and perhaps everyone else.

Neo thought back to the hand he had cut off.

It wasn’t as hard as bone or a strong wood.

Killing or maiming these things wouldn’t be as hard as it was with demons.

With their numbers, however, it was going to be quite the struggle.

A tough fight was ahead.

“How was it?” Mia asked.

“Not too hard.

Like soft wood.” Neo replied her.

She nodded.

“Lancelot, keep the shield up for now.

Let’s see what they do.”

“Alright.” The man replied.

His whole attention focused on maintaining the technique.

The strange creatures kept crowding the dome, pressing against it.

Then they began their attack.

Their first move was enough to shake the shield dome, as they attacked from everywhere.

Lancelot grunted, but the shield remained steady.

Mia nodded.

“Everyone be ready to make a run for it.”

Mia’s white essence aura surrounded her in full.

It was a full burst.

She was ready to make a very powerful move.

“Lancelot, be ready to send them flying.”

“Yes, team leader.”

The next moment the strange creatures attacked.

The shield dome was still, it didn’t shake.

However, it did do something else.

Their moves looked to have been absorbed by the shield dome, made more refined then smashed against them.

The strange creatures were blasted back.

This move had clearly taxed Lancelot, the shield dome dissipated as he staggered.

He soon regained his bearing though.

Mia didn’t waste time.

She swung her sword forward.

Every strange creature in front of them suffered one fate.

All of them were cut in two.

“Forward!” She didn’t need to say it twice.

Everyone was already blasting forward.

There were still more of these strange creatures closing in around them.

The team stayed close together.

Mia kept cutting the strange creatures that seemed to have no end.

They were like the never ending sea.

They kept appearing ahead on the path all around them.

Going forward was the only way out.

There was no hesitation to be had.

“Derek, Burst Explosion!”

Derek didn’t waste time.

He released his aura in full.

There was no arrow in his bow, but as he pulled the string, one essence arrow after another shot out with an explosive force.

Tearing through the air with powerful blasts.

The strange creatures in front of them burst apart.

They had been running forward for a while now, but there seemed no end in sight.

“Neo!” Mia called.

Neo knew it would come to this.

He would have to do his own part to get them out of here.

He sighed.

It would drain him to use techniques like this.

He had no choice, though.

Living mattered more than any discomfort.

“Alright!”

It was his turn now.

He released his white essence aura.

It was nowhere near Derek’s not to mention Mia.

He made his move with the best technique for the moment.

One that wouldn’t drain him, yet get the job done.

He had been observing everything.

As Mia cut, then as Derek also shot his essence arrows.

The weak spots of these strange creatures.

That was his target.

His moves were very efficient.

He didn’t stop cutting.

He maintained a steady rhythm.

Though, he couldn’t get them all at once like Mia.

He made sure to keep their path ahead clear.

Everything looked fine.

When he reached his limit, Mia took over again.

She seemed to have learned from him as she also became more efficient with cutting down the strange creatures.

It looked like they might soon be free of this never ending sea of strange creatures.

“Sofia!” Mia called.

She was already prepared.

Daggers made of essence appeared around her, as she released her white essence aura in full.

Wave after wave, she released them to tear into the strange creatures.

Soon, they reached the end of the strange creatures.

They appeared to have reached the end of the forest.

There was finally a way out.

They stepped out of the forest.

Then into a desert.

The change was so abrupt that it made no sense even by the common sense of the true outlands.
