The essence swords within each ring vibrated faster.

Neo began to lay one ring over another.

The sharpness reached another level.

The demons withstood it still.

The tattoos on their bodies glowing with greater intensity.

Now, the situation had entered a stalemate.

It remained to be seen who would last till the end between Neo and the demons.

They both consumed essence at an insane rate.

The first one to run out of essence lost the standoff.

This was a fight between Devour and whatever was powering the tattoo on the demons.

While the other team members were filled with worry, and Neo kept wondering when the demons will run out of whatever was powering their tattoos.

A new situation occured.

A golden light sped towards where the team was.

The light gave a sense of sharpness that was far greater than the rings of essence swords.

Its sharpness emitted an intent to cut everything.

It merged into the rings of essence swords.

The effect was immediate.

The essence swords that were struggling against the demons tore into their flesh.

Blood sprayed into the air.

The demons had lost the standoff.

They were quick to retreat.

This had gone beyond anything they could fight.

They gathered themselves, this time into a proper rank.

Their gaze turned to where the light had come from.

There they saw five people walking towards their direction.

One of them, a woman, had dim golden light that was slowly fading on her forehead.

Another bloodline bearer.

Neo wasn’t able to see what bloodline it was, but he had his own guess.

With the effect it had, it was no doubt a bloodline of the metal lineage.

A five character bloodline.

The dim red golden light on his own forehead also slowly faded.

When the demons saw these people, they beat a hasty retreat.

Returning to their main army.

These new arrivals were people far beyond them in strength.

The people they were running from didn’t seem interested in chasing the demons or engaging them.

Their interest was in Neo and the team.

“I see that your team has encountered the demon army.” The woman, the bloodline bearer said.

They had come before the team.

Neo had stopped the technique.

The dome of essence swords and the rings dissipated into thin air.

The others in the team were already beyond shocked.

Today seemed to be a day full of surprises.

First, their latest teammate turned out to be a bloodline bearer.

Then, there was this new person too.

Were the four who followed behind her also bloodline bearers.

What other surprises would this day bring.

The woman observed the team.

They all looked to have been through quite the rough patch.

“I would commend your fortune that you survived the encounter.

But you also seemed quite unfortunate to have met them in the first place.”

“There is a demon army?” Derek asked.

But he soon realized how silly that question was.

The humans had an army in the East Immortal Fort.

Naturally, the demons had theirs too.

The woman smiled.

“Of course, there is.”

She seemed to realize something.

“Where are my manners.” She looked embarrassed.

“I was so caught up in your unbelievable situation.

I forgot to introduce myself.

My name is Raela.

These are my team members.”

Team?

They were adventurers.

Since, the leader of another team had introduced themselves.

Mia knew it was time for her to step up.

“I am Mia.

These are my team members.”

Raela cocked her head.

Well, it was quite surprising.

“Pleased to meet you all.”

The two women shook hands.

Raela knew it was best to explain what was going on to them.

“There has been something strange going on with the true outlands itself.

You would have noticed the change.

They aren’t that subtle.”

The team didn’t know much, but the true outlands had really been changing.

The most clear change was in the environment itself.

“I don’t know exactly what it is, but the military has been more active than usual.

They are sending the F-Rank soldiers en masse into the true outlands.

You already met the one of the demons.

There are also those of our side in the true outlands.”

She saw that her information seemed to overwhelm the team.

“Don’t bother yourselves with these things.

Just be more careful when in the true outlands.

The way I see it, the Adventurer Guild will soon make their move.

You should take care till then.”

“Thank you,” Mia told her.

“You are welcome.” Raela nodded.

She thought of something for a moment, then said.

“Team leader Mia, can I borrow that member of yours for a moment.”

She gestured at Neo.

Mia looked at him.

Sofia almost glared at the woman.

Raela seemed to sense her hesitation.

“Don’t worry, I am not poaching him.

There are just some things I will like to ask him.”

Neo went to meet her.

The two moved away from the others.

Raela looked at him well.

It felt like she was scrutinizing every nook and cranny of his being.

“May I know your name?”

“Neo.”

“Ah.” Raela found the name simple.

“From which family.”

Neo was confused now.

“Family?”

Raela blinked.

It was her turn to be surprised.

“You are not from a family?”

She found him even more surprising.

“You are independent.”

“I have no idea what you mean.” Neo was very much confused now.

What was she going on about.

“When I saw your techniques, I thought you were either from a family or have joined one.

Bloodline bearers are rare in the mortal world, after all.

You don’t get that good without somebody supporting you.”

“Mortal world?” Neo was surprised now.

A native using that word.

He found it amusing.

His amusement must have been obvious.

Raela caught it.

“You don’t seem too vexed.

Are you sure you are not from a family?”

Her eyes squinted, as she stared into his eyes.

Neo gazed back at her with calm.

Something seemed to click in her mind.

“You are from the Immortal World!

One of those that were cast down here.”

She frowned.

She was pacing now.

“But that doesn’t make sense.

You have a bloodline.

Have they tightened the requirements to stay up there?

How hard is ascension going to be now?”

Neo heard her mumbling.

“How hard can it be?

Just become an immortal.” It seemed so obvious to him.

Raela paused her pacing.

She stared at him, checking if he actually meant that.

He really did.

She snorted.

“Immortal World brat.”
