[System Feature successfully awakened.]
[Ultimate Family Danger Meter has been activated.]
Dan stopped walking. ’Danger Meter?’
His irritation from earlier was quickly replaced by curiosity.
[Ultimate Family Danger Meter is a real-time depiction of the danger level faced by each member of the Ultimate Family.]
[The Danger Meter applies to Host’s wives, children, and all other officially recognized members of the Ultimate Family.]
[The meter will continuously evaluate various factors that may threaten a family member’s survival.]
[The higher the Danger Level, the greater the probability that the corresponding family member will suffer serious injury or death if Host fails to intervene.]
[The Danger Meter will update according to changes in the surrounding environment, the actions of potential enemies, approaching disasters, and other factors capable of influencing a family member’s survival.]
[The purpose of this feature is to allow Host to identify potential threats before they become fatal.]
Dan’s expression brightened. ’Damn.’
He couldn’t help but feel impressed.
’That’s actually a huge help.’
Knowing that his family was in danger was one thing. Knowing how serious that danger was was completely different.
If the meter suddenly spiked, he would know something was wrong and could immediately investigate instead of discovering the problem after it was already too late.
[System believes this feature will significantly improve Host’s ability to protect the Ultimate Family.]
Dan nodded slightly. ’For once, I completely agree with you.’
The System remained silent for a moment.
Then another notification appeared.
[System has detected an interesting thought from Kyle Preston.]
Dan’s expression immediately changed.
’Kyle again?’
Before he could wonder what Kyle was thinking, another notification appeared.
[System has discovered the existence of a location potentially suitable for the Ultimate Family.]
Dan’s interest was immediately piqued.
’What kind of location?’
[System has identified a potential Stronghold for the Ultimate Family.]
Dan’s eyes narrowed.
’A Stronghold?’
For the first time since entering the supermarket, his attention became completely focused.
If the System considered a location suitable as a Stronghold, it was probably far more important than an ordinary house.
And with the apocalypse approaching, having a secure place where Sophie, Lily, and the rest of his future family could stay might be just as important as the supplies he was gathering.
Dan’s thoughts raced. ’Where is it?’
[Location data has been transferred to Host’s mind.]
A strange sensation passed through Dan’s consciousness.
For an instant, a detailed image appeared in his mind, followed by the location and a rough layout of the surrounding area.
He could visualize the destination as though he had already stood there himself.
Dan committed the information to memory.
’I’ll check the place out later today.’
A potential Stronghold was too important to ignore, especially with the apocalypse approaching. If the location was truly suitable for his family, securing it early could save him a tremendous amount of trouble later.
But before moving on, another thought occurred to him.
’System.’
[System is listening.]
’I want to check Sophie and Lily’s Danger Meter.’
[Request acknowledged.]
[Calculating current Danger Levels of Ultimate Family members...]
A moment later, two sets of information appeared in Dan’s mind.
[Sophie Reynolds]
[Current Danger Level: 27%]
[Lily Reynolds]
[Current Danger Level: 23%]
Dan’s eyebrows rose.
’Twenty-seven and twenty-three percent?’
He frowned slightly.
’That’s higher than I expected.’
The System immediately clarified.
[Current Danger Level represents the estimated probability that the corresponding family member will encounter a life-threatening situation within the next several hours.]
Dan’s expression changed.
’Ah. But why only a few hours? Is there a definite time limit?’
[Yes.]
[The Ultimate Family Danger Meter can currently evaluate the probability of life-threatening danger for a maximum period of five hours into the future.]
Dan’s expression became thoughtful.
’Only five hours...’
He couldn’t deny that the limitation was disappointing. He would have preferred a much longer prediction window.
[Host appears to underestimate the significance of this ability.]
The System’s tone remained calm, but its next words carried unusual weight.
[The apocalypse has yet to fully descend.]
[Humanity has not yet entered the period in which countless variables will continuously interfere with fate and the natural order of the world.]
[People have also yet to awaken.]
[Under these circumstances, being able to obtain even a limited glimpse into the probability of future danger provides Host with an immense advantage.]
Dan remained silent.
The System continued.
[Host should understand that the Danger Meter is not designed to replace Host’s judgment.]
[It is a tool that allows Host to recognize potential danger before that danger becomes immediately apparent.]
[However, its predictive range is currently limited to five hours.]
Dan rubbed his chin. It was inconvenient, but still extremely useful.
Being able to check his family’s danger levels from anywhere would at least put his mind at ease whenever he was away from them.
And with his strategic mind already turning over the possibilities, Dan could think of plenty of ways to make the most of this ability.
But before he could explore those possibilities, another notification appeared.
[There is another limitation Host should be aware of.]
Dan’s expression became serious. ’Another one?’
