Behind the Camera & A Dangerous Escape

The sun had only begun to rise over Hyderabad when Konidela Production House came alive once again.

Unlike the excitement that surrounded the first day of shooting, today’s atmosphere carried a different kind of energy.Full novel: Starting as Chiranjeevi’s Son, I Became a Global Superstar — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

There was a sense of anticipation mixed with nostalgia.

After months of hard work, endless rehearsals, and countless shooting schedules, the production had finally reached its climax.

This was the final schedule of the film.

Every technician, every actor, and every crew member understood the importance of the coming days.

The sprawling studio compound was already bustling with activity.

Spot boys hurried between sets carrying props, assistant directors checked the call sheets for the hundredth time, electricians adjusted the final lighting rigs, while costume assistants carefully arranged wardrobes for the day’s scenes.

Near the entrance of the main soundstage, a large clapboard stood proudly with today’s schedule written across it.

Final Schedule — Climax Sequence

Seeing those words made everyone smile.

Months of effort had led to this moment.

Producer Nagendra Babu slowly walked through the studio floor, greeting every department with a warm smile.

“Good morning.”

“Morning, sir.”

“Everything ready?”

“Almost, sir.”

Satisfied with the preparations, he continued toward the main set.

Director N.

Hari was already there.

Unlike everyone else, he remained completely focused on the monitor placed beside the camera crane.

Several pages of the screenplay were spread across a table as he carefully discussed camera angles with the cinematographer.

“This sequence must feel tense.”

“The audience should feel trapped with Teja.”

“So keep the camera movements slow.”

The cinematographer nodded.

“I understand.”

Nearby, assistant directors hurriedly finalized the shooting order.

At that very moment, another familiar figure entered the soundstage.

Pawan Kalyan.

Instead of his usual casual appearance as a family member visiting the set, today he wore a simple cream-colored linen shirt, blue jeans, comfortable sneakers, and a crew identification card hanging around his neck.

A headset rested over one shoulder while a rolled-up copy of the shooting schedule remained tucked beneath his arm.

The moment Director Hari noticed him, a smile appeared on his face.

“Good.”

“You’re here.”

Pawan smiled politely.

“I promised I’d help with the final schedule.”

Hari nodded.

“I’ll need every extra pair of hands today.”

Without another word, Pawan immediately joined the assistant directors.

He checked the call sheets.

Confirmed the actors’ timings.

Verified the continuity photographs.

Cross-checked prop placements.

Within minutes, he blended naturally into the production team.

Watching from nearby, Nagendra Babu smiled proudly.

Although Pawan had always loved cinema, today he wasn’t standing there as the younger brother of a superstar.

He was learning filmmaking from the ground up.

And he seemed to enjoy every second of it.

Meanwhile…

Inside the makeup room…

Ram sat quietly as the makeup artist made the final adjustments to his appearance.

Since today’s scenes took place after several traumatic events in the story, Teja’s face needed to appear tired and emotionally drained.

Small traces of dust were added around his cheeks.

A faint scratch was painted across one arm.

Dark circles beneath his eyes completed the exhausted look.

Ram looked into the mirror.

The cheerful young boy had disappeared.

Looking back at him was Teja…

A child carrying the weight of tragedy far beyond his years.

Just then, the makeup room door opened.

Shruthi stepped inside.

She had already changed into Ananya’s costume.

A simple school uniform.

Neatly braided hair.

A backpack slung over one shoulder.

Unlike the earlier cheerful portions of the film, today’s version of Ananya looked more mature.

The recent events in the story had clearly changed her as well.

Ram smiled.

“You look nervous.”

Shruthi laughed softly.

“So do you.”

“I think today’s scenes are the hardest we’ve done.”

Ram nodded.

“They probably are.”

Before either of them could continue, another voice interrupted.

“You two ready?”

Director Hari stood outside the doorway.

Both children immediately stood.

Hari looked at them for a long moment.

Then smiled warmly.

“Remember something.”

“This isn’t about delivering dialogues.”

“It’s about emotions.”

He looked toward Ram.

“You’ve lost your teacher.”

“You’ve watched innocent people suffer.”

“But you’re still standing.”

Then he turned toward Shruthi.

“And you…”

“You aren’t just Teja’s friend.”

“You’re the one keeping him from breaking.”

“So don’t think about acting.”

“Think about protecting someone you truly care about.”

Both children listened silently.

Neither spoke.

They simply nodded.

Hari smiled.

“Good.”

“Let’s make something everyone will remember.”

Outside…

Pawan was already preparing the first shot.

He checked the clapboard before handing it to another assistant director.

Then he noticed Ram and Shruthi walking toward the set.

He raised both thumbs.

“Don’t worry.”

“You’ll do great.”

Ram grinned.

“We’ll try.”

Shruthi laughed.

“If we forget our lines…”

Pawan immediately interrupted.

“You won’t.”

“And even if you do…”

He pointed toward Director Hari.

“He’ll make you do another take.”

Everyone burst into laughter.

Even Hari smiled.

“Exactly.”

The relaxed conversation eased everyone’s tension.

Soon…

Silence spread across the entire soundstage.

“Cameras ready?”

“Ready.”

“Lights?”

“Ready.”

“Sound?”

“Rolling.”

Pawan stepped forward holding the clapboard.

He looked toward Director Hari.

Hari nodded.

Pawan smiled before bringing the slate into position.

“Film Title.”

“Scene 108.”

“Shot 1.”

“Take 1.”

Clap!

The sound echoed across the studio.

Director Hari looked toward the camera.

“And…”

“Action!” Read this novel at novelping.com for the best experience.

Inside the world of the film…

Dark clouds gathered over the city.

Heavy rain battered the prison walls as flashes of lightning illuminated the gloomy compound.

Inside one of the high-security prison blocks, Vinod sat silently inside his cell.

Unlike before, the arrogant smile had disappeared.

Only hatred remained.

Hatred for one boy.

Teja.

His eyes slowly lifted toward the prison clock.

Exactly on time.

Outside the corridor, several officers prepared paperwork for transferring a group of prisoners to the central courthouse for additional questioning.

The transfer had been approved only hours earlier.

Everything appeared routine.

Two guards unlocked Vinod’s cell.

“Move.”

Without resisting, Vinod calmly stood.

His unusually cooperative behavior lowered everyone’s guard.

His wrists were secured with handcuffs before he joined several other inmates.

The convoy slowly moved toward the prison transport vehicle waiting outside.

Rain continued pouring relentlessly.

Thunder shook the sky.

Halfway to the transport van…

The prison compound suddenly went dark.

The electricity had failed.

Emergency lights flickered weakly.

The officers instinctively reached for their flashlights.

That single moment of confusion was all Vinod needed.

He drove his shoulder into the nearest guard with explosive force.

The unsuspecting officer crashed into another policeman.

Before anyone recovered, Vinod grabbed a dropped baton and struck another guard across the arm.

Chaos erupted instantly.

Prison alarms blared throughout the compound.

“Stop him!”

“He’s escaping!”

Ignoring the shouts behind him, Vinod sprinted through the rain.

One officer attempted to tackle him.

Vinod threw him aside before climbing over a maintenance wall already weakened by ongoing repairs.

On the opposite side, a stolen motorcycle waited beneath an abandoned shed.

The engine roared to life.

Within seconds…

Vinod disappeared into the darkness.

The prison sirens continued screaming behind him.

Only one thought occupied his mind.

“Teja…”

“You destroyed my life.”

“Now…”

“I’ll destroy yours.”

The camera slowly pulled upward as the motorcycle vanished into the storm, bringing the first sequence of the climax to a chilling close.

A Family’s Departure and a Boy Left Behind

“Cut!”

Director N.

Hari’s voice echoed across the soundstage.

For a moment, complete silence followed before the crew broke into applause.

“Excellent take!”

The cinematographer looked pleased as he replayed the footage on the monitor.

The rain effects, the lighting, and Kumara Bangarappa’s intense performance as Vinod had come together exactly as envisioned.

Nagendra Babu folded his arms with a satisfied smile.

“That prison escape felt believable.”

Hari nodded.

“That’s what we wanted.

Vinod shouldn’t look like a superhuman.

He should feel like a dangerous criminal who takes advantage of one opportunity.”

Pawan Kalyan, standing beside the monitor with the continuity file in hand, quickly checked the next setup.

“We’re ready for Scene 109.”

He looked toward the assistant directors.

“Wedding house sequence.”

Within minutes, the crew transformed the set.

The gloomy prison backdrop disappeared, replaced by the warm, colorful interior of Teja’s family home.

Traditional decorations hung from the ceiling.

Fresh mango leaves adorned the entrance.

Bright marigold garlands covered the walls.

Steel trunks, wedding gifts, and neatly packed suitcases filled almost every corner of the house, instantly creating the feeling of a family preparing for an important celebration.

“Places, everyone!”

The assistant director called out.

Ram, now back in Teja’s cheerful costume, walked onto the set carrying a small toolbox.

Shruthi joined him moments later as Ananya, holding a notebook against her chest.

Director Hari gathered both children before the cameras rolled.

“This scene is important,” he explained calmly.

“There isn’t any action here.”

“But emotionally, it lays the foundation for everything that follows.”

He looked at Ram.

“This is the last peaceful conversation Teja will have before his life turns upside down.”

Then he turned toward Shruthi.

“And Ananya doesn’t know she’s saying goodbye.”

“So keep it simple.”

“Natural.”

“No dramatic acting.”

“Just two close friends.”

Both children nodded.

“Ready?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Camera.”

“Rolling.”

“Sound.”

“Rolling.”

Pawan stepped forward with the slate.

“Scene 109.”

“Take One.”

Clap!

“And…”

“Action!”

Inside the world of the film…

The house buzzed with excitement.

Relatives hurried from one room to another carrying luggage.

Someone searched for missing wedding invitations.

Children ran through the hall laughing while elderly women discussed jewelry and ceremonies.

The atmosphere perfectly captured the beautiful chaos of a traditional South Indian wedding.

In the middle of all the commotion…

Teja remained completely absorbed in his workshop.

Tiny motors.

Electronic circuits.

Camera lenses.

Half-finished robotic toys.

Everything lay scattered across his worktable.

He carefully adjusted a miniature motor before connecting it to a homemade remote-control board.

The tiny vehicle immediately rolled across the table.

Teja smiled.

“It finally works.”

Just then—

Knock.

Knock.

He looked toward the door.

“Come in.”

The door slowly opened.

Ananya stepped inside.

She held two books in her hands.

“I thought I’d find you here.”

Teja laughed.

“Where else?”

She looked around the workshop, shaking her head with a helpless smile.

“I still don’t understand how you can actually find anything in this room.”

Teja glanced around.

“It isn’t messy.”

“It’s organized.”

Ananya raised an eyebrow.

“According to whom?”

“My system.”

She sighed dramatically.

“I’ll never win an argument against you.” This chapter is updated first at g.com.

Both children laughed.

She handed him the books.

“You forgot these at school yesterday.”

Teja accepted them.

“My science notebook.”

“And the physics reference book.”

“I was wondering where they disappeared.”

Ananya folded her arms.

“If you lose them again…”

“I’m not bringing them.”

Teja grinned.

“You will.”

She tried to look serious.

“I won’t.”

“You always do.”

Unable to hold her expression any longer, she burst into laughter.

“Fine.”

“I probably will.”

Her attention soon shifted toward the workbench.

Several strange devices lay neatly arranged.

One resembled a toy car.

Another looked like an ordinary camera flash.

A third appeared to be a tiny electronic sensor.

Ananya picked up the small sensor.

“You actually finished this?”

Teja nodded proudly.

“It detects movement.”

“Watch.”

He placed the sensor near the workshop door.

The moment Ananya stepped across the invisible line—

Beep!

A tiny red light flashed.

Her eyes widened.

“The response time is faster than before.”

“I changed the circuit.”

She smiled with genuine admiration.

“I knew you would.”

Then she pointed toward the camera equipment.

“And what about this?”

Teja carefully picked up his vintage SLR camera.

“I upgraded the flash trigger.”

“It can now fire automatically using a timer or remote switch.”

Ananya nodded thoughtfully.

“That’ll be useful during photography competitions.”

Teja smiled.

“Exactly.”

Neither of them realized that every invention surrounding them would soon become far more important than either had imagined.

Outside the workshop, someone shouted loudly.

“Teja!”

“Where are you?”

His mother’s voice echoed through the hallway.

“We’re leaving soon!”

Teja looked toward the door.

“I’ll be there in a minute!”

Ananya glanced at the wall clock.

“I should go too.”

“My parents are waiting.”

She adjusted her school bag before walking toward the doorway.

After taking a few steps, she suddenly stopped.

Turning back, she smiled.

“Don’t forget.”

“School reopens after the wedding.”

Teja saluted playfully.

“Yes, madam.”

“And bring your camera.”

“I want to see your wedding photographs.”

“You’ll be the first person I show.”

She smiled warmly.

“It’s a promise.”

For a brief moment, neither of them spoke.

Then Ananya waved.

“Bye, Teja.”

“See you in a few days.”

“See you.”

She disappeared down the hallway.

The camera lingered on Teja watching her leave.

Neither child knew that fate had very different plans.

Only a few minutes later…

The peaceful atmosphere transformed into complete chaos.

“Has anyone packed the flower baskets?”

“Where’s grandmother’s medicine?”

“Who took the invitation cards?”

“Load the luggage into the second van!”

Every room echoed with overlapping voices.

Teja’s elder sister, dressed in traditional wedding attire, greeted relatives while trying to calm everyone at the same time.

His father supervised the vehicles parked outside.

His mother hurried between rooms collecting forgotten belongings.

Even the household servants struggled to keep up.

Inside his workshop…

Teja remained completely unaware.

Noise-canceling headphones covered his ears as he concentrated on repairing a damaged circuit board.

Outside, relatives assumed he had already climbed into one of the cars.

His father believed Teja was traveling with his grandmother.

His grandmother assumed he had gone with his cousins.

His uncles thought he was riding in the luggage van.

Everyone believed someone else had him.

No one actually checked.

One by one…

The vehicles drove out through the front gate.

The large wooden doors were closed.

Heavy locks clicked firmly into place.

Silence gradually settled over the mansion.

Nearly fifteen minutes later…

Teja finally removed his headphones.

He stretched lazily before looking toward the window.

“Huh?”

The house seemed unusually quiet.

He walked into the hallway.

“Amma?”

No answer.

“Nanna?”

Nothing.

He checked the living room.

Empty.

The dining room.

Empty.

The kitchen.

Empty.

Only the ticking of the old wall clock could be heard.

Slowly…

Realization dawned on his face.

“They…”

“They actually left without me?”

He scratched his head in disbelief.

Then he laughed.

“I guess they’ll realize soon enough.”

Confident that his family would return within a short while, Teja calmly walked back toward his workshop.

Outside…

Far away from the mansion…

A black motorcycle sped through the rain-soaked highway.

The rider’s face remained hidden beneath a helmet.

But his eyes burned with murderous intent.

Vinod had only one destination.

Teja’s house.

And he intended to make sure the boy would never leave it alive.

To be continued…
