Part 5 – Truth Cannot Stay Hidden

The following morning, Konidela Production House was quieter than usual.

Unlike the excitement that had accompanied the opening days of filming, today there was a noticeable seriousness among the cast and crew.Full novel: Starting as Chiranjeevi’s Son, I Became a Global Superstar — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Everyone knew they were about to shoot one of the most emotionally important portions of the film.

Inside the studio, the darkroom set had been recreated in meticulous detail.

Old photographic enlargers stood neatly on a wooden table.

Bottles of developing chemicals, trays filled with solution, drying clips, negatives, and dim red safety lights gave the room an authentic appearance.

Director N.

Hari walked onto the set carrying the screenplay.

He looked at Ram and Shruthi before speaking.

“Yesterday your characters discovered the truth.”

“Today…”

“They must decide whether to do the right thing.”

“There are no heroes in this scene.”

“Only two frightened children trying to make the correct decision.”

Both young actors nodded.

Hari smiled.

“Don’t overact.”

“Just be honest.”

After final rehearsals, the assistant director called everyone into position.

“Quiet on the set!”

“Scene Forty-Two.”

“Take One.”

Clap!

“Camera rolling.”

“Sound rolling.”

Director Hari took a deep breath.

“Action.”

The scene opened inside Teja’s home.

The darkroom remained illuminated only by a faint red lamp.

Photographs hung from drying wires across the room while chemical trays rested on the worktable.

Teja carefully examined the developed landscape photograph once again.

His eyes narrowed.

“There…”

He pointed toward the lower corner of the image.

Ananya stepped closer.

She adjusted the magnifying viewer before studying the enlarged section.

At first she remained silent.

Then her breathing became noticeably slower.

“Teja…”

“I don’t think that’s an accident.”

Teja swallowed nervously.

He enlarged the photograph once more.

The blurry figures gradually became clearer.

One man lay motionless on the ground.

Another stood beside him.

Even though the face wasn’t perfectly visible, the posture alone suggested something horrifying.

Ananya slowly looked toward Teja.

“I think…”

“…we’ve photographed a murder.”

The room became silent.

The only sound came from the gentle dripping of chemicals into the developing tray.

Director Hari watched the monitor carefully.

Neither child exaggerated their emotions.

Their expressions reflected confusion…

Fear…

And disbelief.

Exactly as he had imagined while writing the screenplay.

“Cut.”

Hari smiled.

“Excellent.”

“But let’s do one more.”

“This time, allow the silence to linger slightly longer.”

Ram and Shruthi agreed.

The second take was even better.

When the scene ended, several crew members instinctively applauded.

Even Kamal Haasan, who had quietly been watching from behind the monitor, nodded with appreciation.

“Very natural.”

“They’re reacting like children.”

“Not movie heroes.”

Director Hari smiled proudly.

“That’s exactly what I wanted.”

The production quickly moved to the next sequence.

The setting changed to the school campus.

Hundreds of students filled the corridors while teachers supervised the morning assembly.

The atmosphere looked cheerful.

Yet Teja and Ananya appeared distracted throughout.

As the assembly concluded, both exchanged worried glances.

Ananya spoke softly.

“We can’t ignore this.”

Teja looked down at the photograph hidden inside his notebook.

“What if we’re wrong?”

“What if we ruin someone’s life?”

Ananya remained thoughtful.

“Then we verify the truth.”

“If we’re right…”

“We have to tell someone.”

Their conversation felt mature without sounding unrealistic.

Director Hari intentionally kept the dialogue simple.

He wanted the audience to understand that intelligence did not eliminate fear.

The next sequence introduced Vice Principal Sarada once again.

Shari S.

portrayed the character beautifully.

Normally calm and composed, Sarada now appeared exhausted.

Dark circles surrounded her eyes.

She constantly looked over her shoulder.

Even while speaking to students, her hands trembled slightly.

Watching from a distance, Teja noticed the unusual behavior.

“She’s scared.”

Ananya nodded.

“I noticed it too.”

“Let’s speak to her.”

Lunch break arrived.

The school corridors gradually emptied as students rushed toward the playground and cafeteria.

Teja carefully carried the photograph inside a sealed envelope.

Ananya walked beside him.

Neither of them spoke.

Both understood the seriousness of what they were about to do.

The assistant director coordinated dozens of background artists to create a realistic school atmosphere.

Teachers walked through the corridors.

Students chatted loudly.

Some played cricket.

Others sat beneath trees eating lunch.

Completely unaware of the truth hidden inside a single photograph.

Sarada entered the science laboratory to organize practical equipment.

Moments later, she heard a gentle knock.

Looking toward the door, she found Teja and Ananya standing nervously outside.

“Come in.”

Both children stepped inside.

Sarada smiled kindly.

“What happened?”

“Did you two build another invention?”

Neither child smiled.

Their unusual seriousness immediately caught her attention.

Teja slowly placed the envelope on the laboratory table.

“We need to show you something.”

Sarada opened the envelope.

Inside lay the enlarged photograph.

At first…

She frowned.

Then…

Her entire body froze.

The photograph slipped from her trembling fingers.

Her breathing became heavy.

She staggered backward until she leaned against the laboratory table for support.

“No…”

“No…”

Her voice barely emerged.

Tears slowly formed in her eyes.

She looked toward the children.

“Where…”

“…where did you get this?”

Teja quietly explained everything.

“The school trip.”

“I was photographing the valley.”

“I didn’t know…”

“I only discovered it yesterday.”

Sarada closed her eyes.

Several painful memories flashed across her face.

Finally…

She whispered,

“I saw it.”

The room became completely silent.

“I saw that man kill someone.”

“I was too frightened to help.”

“I’ve been afraid ever since.”

Shari S.’s emotional performance left the entire set speechless.

Even after Director Hari called—

“Cut!”

—nobody spoke immediately.

The silence itself became applause.

Hari slowly stood.

“Brilliant.”

“That emotion felt completely genuine.”

The actress smiled humbly.

“Thank you.”

The final sequence scheduled for the day carried quiet determination.

Teja carefully picked up the photograph again.

He looked toward Sarada.

“We should inform the police.”

Sarada hesitated.

“They’re dangerous people.”

Ananya answered firmly.

“If everyone stays silent…”

“They’ll hurt someone else.”

Sarada looked at the two children standing before her.

Despite their fear…

Neither stepped back.

She slowly nodded.

“Alright.”

“We’ll go together.”

The camera slowly pulled away from the laboratory.

Three ordinary people…

A frightened teacher…

And two courageous children…

Walking toward a decision that would change all of their lives forever.

Behind the monitor, Director Hari watched the final shot in silence.

Only after the camera stopped rolling did he smile.

“This…”

He said softly.

“…is where the real story begins.”

As the crew applauded another successful day of filming, no one realized that the next shooting schedule would introduce the film’s darkest chapter—

Vinod would discover that someone had witnessed his crime.

And once that happened…

There would be no turning back.

The following morning, the city woke up to shocking news.

The murder of Vice-Principal Sarada had spread everywhere.

Newspapers carried the story on their front pages, while television channels repeatedly aired updates throughout the day.

The investigation quickly gained momentum.

The police recovered fingerprints, collected forensic evidence, and questioned everyone connected to the school.

However, one name kept appearing in every discussion.

Vinod.

Although he had been arrested earlier based on Sarada’s statement and the photograph, his expensive legal team had secured temporary bail.

Now, the prosecution believed Sarada’s murder was nothing more than an attempt to eliminate the key witness.

The public outrage intensified.

Within a few days, Vinod was arrested once again.

This time, the charges were far more severe.

The police claimed they possessed enough evidence to reopen the entire case, including Sarada’s murder.

Inside the film, the atmosphere became increasingly tense.

The cheerful scenes of school life had completely disappeared.

Everything now carried a darker tone.

Teja barely spoke anymore.

The once cheerful boy spent most of his time inside his workshop, silently looking at Sarada’s old photograph that the school had given the students during a memorial gathering.

Ananya quietly entered the room.

She placed two cups of hot milk on the table before sitting beside him.

For several moments, neither of them spoke.

Finally, Teja broke the silence.

“If I had told the police earlier…”

“Maybe she would still be alive.”

Ananya immediately shook her head.

“No.”

“You did the right thing.”

“The person responsible is Vinod.”

“Not you.”

Teja lowered his head.

“But she died because she helped us.”

Ananya looked directly into his eyes.

“And if we stop now…”

“Then her sacrifice becomes meaningless.”

Those simple words slowly brought determination back into Teja’s eyes.

He clenched his fists.

“I won’t stop.”

“No matter what happens.”

Ananya smiled softly.

“I know.”

A few days later…

The case officially entered trial.

The courtroom was packed.

Police officers stood at every entrance.

Journalists filled the gallery.

Members of the public occupied every available seat.

Everyone wanted to witness one of the biggest criminal trials in recent memory.

Outside the courthouse, dozens of television vans were parked.

Microphones and cameras pointed toward the main entrance.

Every major newspaper had sent reporters.

The trial had become national news.

Inside the courtroom…

The judge entered.

Everyone immediately stood.

The room fell completely silent.

“Court is now in session.”

The judge’s calm voice echoed across the hall.

“Please be seated.”

Wooden benches creaked as everyone sat down.

Vinod was escorted into the courtroom by armed police officers.

Despite the murder charges against him, he still wore an arrogant smile.

His expensive lawyer confidently organized stacks of legal documents.

Across the courtroom sat the prosecution team.

Beside them…

Teja.

Ananya.

Their parents.

Both children looked nervous.

Yet neither considered backing down.

The prosecution began first.

“Your Honour…”

“We intend to prove that the accused committed premeditated murder and later murdered Vice-Principal Sarada in an attempt to destroy crucial witnesses.”

The prosecutor carefully presented the sequence of events.

Photographs.

Police reports.

Forensic evidence.

Witness statements.

Everything was placed before the court.

The courtroom listened attentively.

Then the defense lawyer stood.

He adjusted his spectacles before speaking confidently.

“Your Honour…”

“The prosecution’s entire case depends on a photograph taken by a child.”

“A photograph that can easily be manipulated.”

“Mere coincidence cannot become evidence.”

He smiled confidently.

“Furthermore…”

“My client denies ever being present at the alleged crime scene.”

Several journalists immediately began taking notes.

The courtroom became tense once again.

The prosecutor remained calm.

“Your Honour…”

“The prosecution would now like to call its next witness.”

Everyone looked toward the witness stand.

The courtroom doors slowly opened.

A police officer walked inside.

He looked nervous.

Very nervous.

The officer stopped before the witness box.

Everyone recognized him immediately.

He was the investigating officer who had initially handled Vinod’s arrest.

Rumors had long suggested he had accepted bribes.

Even Vinod looked surprised.

The officer took a deep breath.

Then raised his right hand.

“I swear to tell the truth…”

“The whole truth…”

“And nothing but the truth.”

The courtroom became completely silent.

The prosecutor asked the first question.

“Officer…”

“Do you have anything you wish to tell this court?”

The officer closed his eyes briefly.

When he opened them again…

The fear had disappeared.

Only guilt remained.

“Yes.”

“I do.”

He looked directly at the judge.

“I accepted money.”

Gasps echoed throughout the courtroom.

Journalists immediately began writing.

Even Vinod’s lawyer looked stunned.

The officer continued.

“I was bribed…”

“To weaken the investigation.”

“But after Vice-Principal Sarada’s murder…”

“I couldn’t remain silent anymore.”

“I am ready to confess everything.”

The entire courtroom erupted into shocked murmurs.

The judge struck the gavel sharply.

“Order!”

“Maintain order!”

Silence slowly returned.

The prosecutor looked at the officer.

“Can you identify the person who bribed you?”

The officer slowly turned…

And pointed directly at Vinod.

“It was him.”

Vinod’s confident smile disappeared for the first time.

The courtroom atmosphere instantly became explosive.

To be continued…
