Lin Yuzhi had no choice but to start working on the notebook right then and there.

However, before he began, he took all the pens out of his bag, counting through them to see which one offered the best “feel.” Ultimately, he took the one from Xu An’s hand—the one touched by the Academic God. He felt that by basking in the Academic God’s glory, his pen would surely be blessed with divine inspiration.

In reality, the moment his pen touched the paper, he was dead in the water.Full novel: Starting Today, Study Hard [Apocalypse] — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He didn’t know the answer; skip to the next one.

Alright, he didn’t know this one either.

Soon, however, he encountered a question that looked familiar. But it was only vaguely familiar; in the end, he only managed to write down a tiny bit.

He bit the end of his pen and scratched his head. At this moment, he desperately wanted to bang his head against the wall—why was this so hard? He scratched his chin again; it was just too difficult.

“If you really can’t figure it out, just move on to the next one,” Xu An said, noticing his look of agony.

Only then did Lin Yuzhi skip ahead. Finally, at the cost of several strands of pink hair, he barely managed to finish the problems Xu An had set for him. Exhausted, he sprawled out on the ground, staring at the few pink hairs lying on the floor.

Xu An glanced at him. He had been watching Lin Yuzhi scratch his head the entire time he worked; he had genuinely been afraid the guy would pluck himself bald.

Fortunately, he hadn’t.

Seeing how miserable he looked, Xu An offered a word of comfort. “It’s normal that you can’t solve them. You haven’t touched high school material in so many years. I haven’t been in contact with it for a long time either, so sometimes when I run into a problem, I don’t necessarily…”

“Don’t necessarily know how to solve it?” Lin Yuzhi suddenly sat upright, looking at Xu An expectantly.

Xu An thought for a moment. “I don’t necessarily calculate the answer immediately.”

Instantly, Lin Yuzhi deflated again.

The Academic God was truly the bane of the Academic Loser.

He didn’t want to look at the problems he had just done anymore, so he grabbed his phone and opened the Scholar Store. Right now, only looking at the items in the store could make him feel a bit better.

He saw the caviar again. Caviar cost 150 points, which was indeed quite expensive. But he had never eaten it before; he wanted to try it and wondered what it tasted like.

Driven by curiosity, he looked at Xu An. “Academic God, have you ever eaten caviar? What does it taste like? Is it good?”

“Do you like that?” Xu An looked at him, while simultaneously picking a random pen from the pile to grade his work.

Lin Yuzhi gave a silly grin. “I wouldn’t say I ‘like’ it, but I’ve never had it. Is it tasty?”

“That varies from person to person. Some people like it and some don’t. You can only know after you’ve tried it.” Xu An couldn’t say for sure if it was good or not; after all, everyone’s tastes were different, and one had to taste it for themselves to decide.

Lin Yuzhi nodded immediately. 150 points—if he saved up a bit more, he could exchange for it. He was determined to eat it.

He went to check his points again, calculating when he would have enough. After exchanging for three chocolates, he only had thirty-one points left.

Wait? Thirty-one?

Lin Yuzhi, who had just looked away from the points, snapped his gaze back. There, in the top right corner, his points clearly read “31.”

“Holy crap!”

He couldn’t help but exclaim out loud, but he quickly realized he had gotten too excited and glanced toward the door.

Seeing no movement, he hurriedly checked his points again. He even rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn’t seeing things—it really was thirty-one.

But that wasn’t right. He only had thirty points earlier. After spending nine points on chocolates, he should have had twenty-one left. Why had it become thirty-one now? It had increased by ten!

He hadn’t done anything during this time, nor had he received any growth rewards.

Wait, he had done something just now. He had finished the paper Xu An gave him.

So, these ten points were granted for doing the practice paper!

Holy crap, he was all set! If doing papers gave points, he could afford to buy a twenty-point bottle of water and throw one away.

Of course, that behavior was unacceptable; water was very important.

But he got points for doing practice papers!

In his excitement, his eyes glowed as he looked at Xu An. “Academic God, I really love studying. I love studying so much! Can you give me another paper? Give me a few more. I feel like I can still write! I want to improve so badly.”

He really hadn’t expected that doing a paper would grant ten points. Furthermore, Xu An’s work wasn’t even a full exam paper. He wondered how many points a full paper would give. It would be best if it were more, but even ten points was great.

He would just do more and grind them out. Wouldn’t the points just pile up? Hot pot and BBQ were practically guaranteed now!

The more he thought about it, the happier he became. His previously limp pink hair seemed to perk up instantly. “Academic God, the paper!”
