With such a commotion, the lecherous man couldn’t continue his business.
He pulled up his pants and stepped out of the office. A few scratch marks marred his bare chest, but he seemed completely oblivious.
Seeing Lin Yitang and Wen Yu, he even straightened his waist and, in a lewd manner, flicked his belt before slowly fastening it.
“What? Looking for trouble?”
He glanced at the zombies, still burning, and with a wave of his hand, clean water descended from above, drenching the three zombies and extinguishing the flames.
He was a water-type ability user.
In the late apocalypse, water was scarce and valuable, making water-type ability users highly prized at the base.
Now, with acid rain arriving early, water abilities were even more valuable. The man probably knew this, so even knowing there were ability users present, he was overconfident.
Pei Ye’s face darkened as he stepped in front of Wen Yu, blocking the man’s view.
Curious, Wen Yu tugged on Pei Ye’s clothes and peeked out from the side, asking, “How can you tell he’s raising zombies?”
Pei Ye pressed her head back to prevent her from looking at such filth. “We’ll talk later.”
Fair enough. The situation here was indeed inappropriate.
Wen Yu stood back, letting Pei Ye and the others confront the man, while she secretly observed the three zombies.
They were female zombies, their clothes burned by Song Yu, leaving large patches of purple-and-blue skin exposed.
They had no shame, lacking human consciousness.
Yet, as zombies, they could resist bloodlust and stand still…
Interesting.
Meanwhile, a few men from other offices emerged, joining the lecherous man.
They bore similar ambiguous marks—likely up to no good inside the rooms.
They exchanged glances and let the lecherous man negotiate.
“What were you guys doing? I guess you can figure it out. You’ve got skills, and it’d be a shame if you died. Why not join us? You’ll have all the supplies and crystal cores you need. Of course…”
He grinned lecherously. “Endless women too. How about it? Interested?”
As the protagonist and a force of justice, Pei Ye had no intention of consorting with evil.
He didn’t even speak—he simply drew the Tang sword, his stance unmistakable.
Gu Feng and the others drew their guns, preparing for battle.
Seeing such resolve, the opponents panicked briefly.
They had expected Pei Ye to meddle, assuming he had some strength, but hadn’t anticipated firearms. This was not something easily countered.
Suddenly, the dazed zombies lunged at Pei Ye and the others, giving the lecherous man no time to react.
Flustered, he tried to activate his ability to gain the upper hand, but even at full speed, he couldn’t outrun bullets.
In an instant, the spacious office erupted with water, electricity, fire, and earth powers, all spectacular, yet suppressed by gunfire.
Lin Yitang, previously frozen in shock, seemed to wake up.
She hesitated for a moment, then whispered to Song Yu, who was nearest and releasing his ability: “Song Yu, let’s focus on the water-type ability user!”
Song Yu was confused. “Water counters fire, so why single him out?”
Lin Yitang insisted: “Water counters fire, yes, but his ability is low-level. He can’t unleash a killing move. I can help you too. Let’s handle him first, then help Pei Ye and the others.”
Just as his adrenaline spiked, Lin Yitang restrained him, and his heart, previously unsettled, quickly settled.
Excited, he launched five consecutive fireballs, surrounding the lecherous man and forcing him out of formation to face them directly.
Lin Yitang, braving fear, followed, occasionally shooting her pistol.
Her aim wasn’t great, but it distracted the man, preventing him from activating his water formations.
Pei Ye was straightforward.
He swung the Tang sword with deadly precision.
In moments, the three zombies’ heads fell to the ground.
In a blur, he moved into the enemy ranks.
The Tang sword’s blade shimmered, a layer of blue threads crackling along its surface.
The threads sliced through a wall of earth abilities instantly, revealing the opponents’ true positions.
Before they could react, he swung again, cutting two throats in one strike.
The powers those two had gathered dissipated into dust with their deaths.
Pei Ye’s display of skill left everyone exhilarated.
Cen Mo and Gu Feng abandoned their firearms, engaging with abilities instead.
Ye Xin, injured and lacking firearms, barely used his power, so he stayed out of the fight.
Wen Yu also remained outside.
But she was fired up, taking a long sword from her space.
Having seen her telekinetic retrieval before, Ye Xin was still shocked.
He couldn’t grasp the principle. His gold-based ability collected metal from the air, but Wen Yu’s space ability seemed to summon objects from nowhere.
Seeing Ye Xin’s stunned expression, Wen Yu assumed he was jealous of her sword, and handed him a kitchen knife from her space.
She didn’t give it to others, fearing Pei Ye might notice something unusual.
Ye Xin took the knife, bewildered, then watched Wen Yu join the battlefield, cutting with flair.
The fight quickly tilted.
Within ten minutes, all nine men on the lecherous man’s side were dead.
Lin Yitang rushed open several office doors, finding frightened women inside.
Hearing the doors, they instinctively hugged themselves, then, upon recognizing Wen Yu’s gentle female voice, slowly lifted their heads.
“Don’t be afraid. You’re safe now.”
Lin Yitang comforted them like a savior.
Wen Yu, meanwhile, regretted that her space wasn’t an ability. She couldn’t augment her weapons like Pei Ye.
If she had an ability, she would be the coolest female warrior in the apocalypse.
Listening to Lin Yitang’s constant reassurance, Wen Yu snapped back to reality.
She found Lin Yitang’s eagerness strangely persistent, but couldn’t pinpoint why, and let it go.
Once all the women trapped in offices were safe, Wen Yu and the others moved to the next floor.
It was clean, showing no signs of zombie activity.
Pei Ye asked Wen Yu to bring out food, and after eating, they’d decide whether to continue searching the building.
Wen Yu brought instant noodles, ham, and a massive thermos.
Ye Xin, having only seen such a thermos on TV, was fascinated and eagerly volunteered to make noodles for everyone.
Yet, the more Wen Yu thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. She followed Pei Ye downstairs and noticed the lecherous man’s body still there, her brows tightly furrowed.
“What is it?”
“I suspect that the man who could raise zombies was let go by Lin Yitang.”
