After confirming her dormitory room number, Ming Mei was just about to turn around when the senior student behind her suddenly asked, “Junior, can I add you on WeChat?”

Ming Mei looked up at Li Fangming and opened her Appearance Detector.

Not bad! Over eighty points.

Ming Mei thought to herself.

Unfortunately, she had no intention of finding a boyfriend.

She would much rather keep a few handsome men than get herself a boyfriend.

“Sorry,” Ming Mei said with a faint smile. “I don’t use WeChat.”

Li Fangming’s smile nearly froze.

Watching the pretty junior walk away, Li Fangming couldn’t help nudging the man beside him, who had been busy recording information the entire time.

“Old Bai, did I stay up too late playing games last night and end up with a swollen face today?”

Bai Hongfei raised his head, glanced at him, and let out a mocking chuckle before lowering his head and continuing to write.

Li Fangming couldn’t figure it out.

His mind kept returning to Ming Mei’s face and expression.

That junior named Ming Mei had a face that could easily rank among the best at the entire Shanghai University, let alone in the Finance Department.

What an interesting junior.

He wondered how many rounds of his advances she could withstand.

Li Fangming confidently stroked his chin.

He dared to say that there were very few male students at Shanghai University who could match him in looks and physique.

He was, after all, the famous campus heartthrob of the Finance Department and the vice president of the student union.

With his looks, his status, and a little sweet talk, he could even give this junior a few special favors, such as extra academic credits.

He refused to believe he couldn’t win her over.

Meanwhile, Ming Mei messaged the butler to drive the car to the entrance of Dormitory Building Five and leisurely made her way there.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

It was a WeChat message.

Ming Mei opened it and saw that it was from Xu Mu.

“Sunshine Sister, I’ll be livestreaming from 3 to 6 p.m. today. Are you coming?”

Ming Mei smiled and replied, “I might be a little busy today. I’ll see how things go. If I have time, I’ll drop by your livestream.”

The other party replied immediately.

“Okay, Sunshine Sister! Make sure you call out to me when you come in!”

Ming Mei thought he was quite an interesting person and replied, “Sure.”

By the time she finished chatting, she had arrived at Dormitory Building Five.

Compared with the parents and students around her, who were carrying bags and luggage in every direction, Ming Mei stood out. She had earphones in, was holding her phone, and wasn’t carrying anything at all.

Not many people had arrived yet, so the Toyota Alphard and Ferrari LaFerrari parked downstairs were especially conspicuous. Since this was the entrance to the women’s dormitory, quite a few mothers and daughters had gathered to look at the cars, although nobody dared to walk up and touch them.

Ming Mei glanced inside the building. She guessed that the butler and housekeepers had already taken everything upstairs as soon as she sent them the message.

She took the elevator to the fifth floor and walked to Room 5101.

The dormitory door was firmly shut, and several people were standing outside.

Ming Mei walked toward them.

“Hey, young lady, don’t go in just yet. Someone is cleaning inside,” an older woman said, stopping her.

Ming Mei smiled at her and replied, “I understand. Thank you, Auntie.”

Another middle-aged woman asked Ming Mei, “Young lady, are you also a freshman assigned to Room 5101?”

Ming Mei nodded.

“My daughter is in this room too!” the woman exclaimed. “This is my daughter, Xu Xiaoning. Xiaoning, come over and say hello to your roommate!”

A round-faced girl standing nearby with a shy expression spoke up.

“Hello, my name is Xu Xiaoning.”

Ming Mei smiled at her. “Hello, I’m Ming Mei. Ming as in bright and Mei as in beautiful.”

Xu Xiaoning shyly said, “Hello, Ming Mei,” then lowered her head and stood silently.

The middle-aged woman smiled apologetically.

“I’m sorry, young lady. My daughter doesn’t have any other problems. She’s just too shy. She blushes whenever she speaks. It’s not that she has any issue with you, so please don’t take it personally.”

Ming Mei laughed. “Don’t worry, Auntie. I won’t.”

Just then, a tall girl came out of the nearby restroom, swinging her arms as she walked. She hurried over to Ming Mei and said, “You’re in Room 5101 too? Hello! I’m also in Room 5101. My name is Ma Mingyue. It’s nice to meet you!”

Ming Mei smiled back. “Hello! My name is Ming Mei. Ming as in bright and Mei as in beautiful. It’s nice to meet you too!”

Ma Mingyue pulled out her phone.

“There’s only one more person before all our roommates have arrived. Let’s add each other on WeChat first!”

The two scanned each other’s QR codes.

Then Ma Mingyue suddenly grabbed Xu Xiaoning and pulled her closer.

“How could I forget this? Ming Mei, this is my cousin, Xu Xiaoning. You’ve already met, right? We’re family. Xu Xiaoning is just introverted and shy. She doesn’t talk much when meeting people, so don’t take it the wrong way!”

Ming Mei thought that the people in this family certainly spoke in a similar manner. She smiled and said, “It’s fine. I understand being shy. Both of you managed to get into Shanghai University. You’re really impressive!”

The middle-aged woman smiled proudly.

Of course they were impressive! Both girls in their family had gotten into prestigious universities, and local media had even interviewed them.

Suddenly, the middle-aged woman spoke again.

“I wonder whose family the person who came to clean belongs to. We’d just finished putting our children’s things away when several people came in and said they needed to clean the dormitory. They asked us to step outside for a while. How strange! I haven’t seen that happen in any of the other rooms.”

The older woman beside her chimed in, “I asked around just now. None of the other dormitories are getting cleaned like this. I guess one of the students has parents who can’t bear to let their child do any work, so they hired people to clean for her. Tsk, tsk. I wonder how rich they must be.”

As she spoke, she secretly glanced at Ming Mei, thinking that it probably wasn’t her.

After all, there were four students in each dormitory. Two of the girls were related and already knew each other, so the person who had hired the cleaners had to be one of the other two.

There was a good chance it was the young lady named Ming Mei standing right in front of her.

However, in the older woman’s mind, anyone who hired people to clean a dormitory at this age had to be a spoiled, pampered rich girl. Ming Mei looked cheerful and easygoing, nothing like that sort of person.

Just then, the dormitory door opened, and the butler appeared.

When he saw Ming Mei, he smiled.

“Miss, you’re here. We’ve finished cleaning the dormitory and made your bed as well. Please take a look and let me know if you need anything else.”

The older woman immediately fell silent and turned to stare at Ming Mei in astonishment.

Ma Mingyue, who had been chattering away moments earlier, fell silent too. She stared at Ming Mei in shock and stammered, “M-Ming Mei, you were the one who hired them?”

Ming Mei shook her head.

“I didn’t hire them. This is my family’s butler. He just came to help me tidy up the dormitory on my first day of school.”

With that, she walked inside.

The dusty smell that had filled the hallway was gone from the dormitory. Instead, the air was lightly scented with lemon freshener, and the entire room looked spotless.

The ladder leading up to Ming Mei’s bed had already been covered with nonslip strips. They had even put soft, plush wallpaper on the walls.

Ming Mei glanced at the plush wallpaper.

That was good. Autumn was approaching, and winter would soon follow. The wallpaper would come in handy.

The four people behind her hurried inside as well, looking around the dormitory.

The dim hanging light had been replaced with bright LED lighting.

The middle-aged woman hesitated for a long moment before speaking.

“M-Miss Ming, what is all this…?”

Ming Mei turned to look at her.

“You can just call me Ming Mei, Auntie. There are some things here I’m not used to, so I asked my butler to help replace them. We’ll also have air conditioners installed in a couple of days. I checked with the university before enrolling, and they said it was permitted as long as we paid for the installation ourselves. Don’t worry. I’ll cover the electricity bill on my own.”

The middle-aged woman smiled awkwardly.

“Oh, oh! That’s good. That’s good.”

Good heavens! What kind of family did this girl come from? She even had a butler who called her Miss. It was like something straight out of a television drama!

So this was how rich people lived? She was even installing air conditioners and covering all the electricity costs herself. How much money would that take?

Thinking this, the woman secretly sized Ming Mei up again.

So rich people still have two eyes, one nose, and one mouth, just like everyone else!
