Manager’s Office
Manager Feng of the 4S dealership was playing a mobile game while occasionally glancing at the time.
Ah, another day of doing absolutely nothing has passed.
Manager Feng was a rich second-generation heir.
He certainly couldn’t compare with the wealthiest families at the very top, but in a place like Shanghai, his family’s fortune was enough to let him live extravagantly for the rest of his life.
He wasn’t the eldest son who needed to inherit the family business, either. So his elders had bought him more than a dozen apartment buildings and told him that collecting rent was all he needed to do. Aside from staying away from things he shouldn’t get involved in, they had no other expectations of him.
Thus, after graduating from university, he had gone to work at a 4S dealership owned by one of his relatives, where he could slack off all day and wait for his rental income to roll in every month.
Besides, the land the dealership stood on belonged to his family, too. His relative’s only requirement was that Manager Feng not cause any trouble.
He was enjoying his game when someone suddenly knocked on the manager’s office door.
Manager Feng reacted as if he’d been caught playing with his phone during class. He instantly locked his screen and stuffed the phone into his pocket. Then he remembered that he was already a working adult, so he coughed twice to hide his embarrassment before calling toward the door.
“Who’s there?”
“Manager, I’m very sorry to disturb you at this hour. I’m Li from sales. There’s something I need to discuss with you.”
Manager Feng recalled the tall woman and replied, “Oh, Xiao Li! The door’s unlocked. Come in!”
Saleswoman Li entered and hesitated before speaking.
“Manager Feng, something has come up that I can’t handle on my own. I’d like to ask you to step in.”
Manager Feng raised his eyelids slightly. “What’s the matter?”
“It’s like this, Manager Feng. There’s a young lady who likes the Ferrari LaFerrari downstairs. I quoted her a price of over 50 million yuan, but she still said she wanted to buy it. I don’t have the authority to make that decision, so I came to see you.”
Manager Feng paused before looking up.
“You didn’t fix the price at 50 million yuan, did you?”
Saleswoman Li hurriedly shook her head.
“No, no, Manager! I told her the price would be at least 50 million yuan.”
Manager Feng let out a sigh of relief. He stood up, straightened his suit, and made sure he looked presentable before leaving the office.
“Good. I’ll go negotiate with her.”
Manager Feng walked down the stairs and immediately spotted Ming Mei sitting in the lounge, drinking tea.
He looked at Ming Mei’s face, then glanced at her outfit. His face inexplicably turned red.
…Mom, I’m in love.
Ming Mei had just taken a couple of sips of tea when she heard footsteps approaching.
She looked up and saw a young man who appeared to be around thirty years old.
He was quite handsome, no less so than Xu Mu that morning.
There was something strange about the way he was looking at her.
Ming Mei didn’t think much of it and lowered her gaze again.
Manager Feng walked over.
“Hello, miss. Are you the one who wants to buy the LaFerrari?”
As he spoke, he extended his hand.
Ming Mei stood up and placed her fingertips in his hand, giving it a gentle shake.
“Hello, Manager. Yes, I’m the one who wants to buy the LaFerrari. I fell in love with it at first sight.”
Manager Feng smiled and released her hand.
“Then, miss, would you mind telling me your name?”
“My name is Ming Mei. The Ming in bright and sunny.”
What a lovely name, Manager Feng thought. His smile deepened.
“Miss Ming, are you certain you want to purchase this LaFerrari?”
Ming Mei nodded.
“Yes. Please tell me how much it costs.”
“If you’re genuinely interested in buying it, the price is 94 million yuan. The entire amount must be paid upfront.”
In fact, Manager Feng’s relative had originally intended to keep this car for himself.
Every Ferrari LaFerrari was produced in limited quantities and came with its own individual serial number.
This particular car bore the number 111, making it rather special. Manager Feng’s relative had gone to extraordinary lengths, calling in numerous favors and using all sorts of connections to acquire it.
He had set the price at 94 million yuan and refused to change it for anyone.
His plan was to wait a little longer. If nobody bought it, he could finally keep it for himself without feeling guilty.
After all, although LaFerraris were rare, even secondhand ones generally sold for only 60 to 70 million yuan. A price exceeding 90 million was simply too high. And on top of that, the buyer had to pay the entire amount upfront.
Consequently, the dealership’s senior management had never seriously intended to sell this car. They planned to keep it as a showpiece to build the dealership’s reputation until the boss came to drive it himself.
They were also planning to exhibit the car at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show.
It would absolutely dominate the competition.
Who could have predicted that a young woman would show up today wanting to buy the LaFerrari?
Manager Feng looked at Ming Mei’s face, his heart beating a little faster.
It wouldn’t be a big deal if she couldn’t afford it. But if she could, that would mean she was a wealthy second-generation heir whose family’s power was comparable to, or perhaps even greater than, his own.
Could he pursue her?
Manager Feng wondered.
Ming Mei checked the lavish spending funds she had exchanged through the system. She seemed to be a little short of money.
She quickly poked the system.
【Beep-beep! The system has detected that the host has encountered a car she likes, but she doesn’t have enough money. How can this be allowed? How could the host of a spendthrift system ever run into a shortage of funds? Isn’t this making things difficult for me, Fatty System? Send the money! Send me lots and lots of money!】
Ming Mei almost burst out laughing.
Her phone vibrated lightly. She took it out and checked the screen.
Sure enough, another 100 million yuan in lavish spending funds had arrived.
“94 million yuan?” Ming Mei said. “I’ll pay by card. I’ll take it.”
She was about to receive 940 points. Hehe!
Manager Feng was stunned for a moment when he heard her answer, and a little disappointed.
The fact that this young woman could casually produce nearly 100 million yuan meant only one thing: her family might be wealthier than his.
Damn it! Has there really come a day when Young Master Feng has to worry about being outclassed because his family isn’t wealthy enough?
Nevertheless, Manager Feng quickly put a smile back on his face.
“Of course, Miss Ming. I’ll process your payment right away.”
With that, he turned around to fetch the card terminal.
Ming Mei inserted her card and entered her PIN in one smooth motion.
After confirming that the payment had gone through, Manager Feng smiled.
“Please follow me, Miss Ming. I’ll take care of the paperwork for you. Would you like to take some commemorative photos with the car?”
Ming Mei shook her head.
“No need. Just help me complete the paperwork. I’d like to drive it home myself.”
Perhaps because she had spent so much money, everything was completed in less than half an hour.
Manager Feng placed all the documents into a blue document folder. Saleswoman Li accepted it with both hands and handed it to Ming Mei.
“Miss Ming, all your documents are inside. They include the insurance documents and warranty card, so please keep them safe. Congratulations! From this moment on, this Ferrari LaFerrari belongs to you.”
Ming Mei happily accepted the folder. But when she opened the car door, she suddenly stopped in embarrassment.
“Um…” She turned to Saleswoman Li. “Can you drive?”
Saleswoman Li looked a little confused but answered, “Yes, I can.”
Ming Mei smiled sheepishly.
“Then could I trouble you to drive me home? I only turned eighteen last month, so I don’t have a driver’s license yet.”
Saleswoman Li’s eyes widened as she looked Ming Mei up and down.
Indeed, the young woman standing before her looked as though she’d only just reached adulthood.
She can afford a car worth tens of millions of yuan right after turning eighteen?
Saleswoman Li felt a little envious, but when she thought about the commission she was about to receive, her mood immediately improved.
“Of course, Miss Ming. Please wait a moment while I change into a pair of flat shoes.”
Saleswoman Li turned and hurried back to the lounge, her heels clicking rapidly against the floor.
When she passed Manager Feng, she stopped.
“Manager! Manager! I’m leaving early today!”
Manager Feng’s eyes widened.
“Don’t you think you should at least ask me first?”
Saleswoman Li gave him a smug smile.
“Miss Ming doesn’t have a driver’s license, so I’m taking her home!”
Manager Feng froze. He swallowed the words Let me take her instead before they could escape his mouth.
“Drive safely.”
In the end, those were the only words he managed to utter.
