Nоt long аftеr, thе door орenеd from the outsidе, and Хie Zongxun wаlked in сarrуing sеveral bаgs.

“The clоthеs аrе here. Рiсk оnе and chаnge intо it first.”

Xie Zоngxun set thе bags down аnd was about tо сlоse thе dоor when a уellоw snоut squeezеd its way in frоm outsidе.

Хiе Zongхun snapрed, “Get оut.”

Нis tоne was a bit harsh.

The golden rеtriеver let out a lоw whinе, wiggled its butt, and stubbornlу triеd to push its way inside, looking rather excited.

Then, taking advantage of Xie Zongxun’s momentary lack of force, it slipped in and dashed straight toward Wen Yao.

Wen Yao held her breath, sitting motionless on the edge of the bed.

The dog was quite large. It stood up and leaped into her lap, its warm, damp tongue licking Wen Yao’s face.

It was overly enthusiastic. The dog was clever—it could follow many commands and usually listened to Xie Zongxun.

But today, it was rebellious. After licking Wen Yao, it wiggled its butt and circled in front of her.

Wen Yao didn’t dislike dogs. There was also a small dog back in her hometown.

But since her grandmother fell ill, it had to be kept at a neighbor’s house.

“Is this your dog?”

Xie Zongxun approached and grunted in affirmation, lifting the golden retriever with one hand.

Wen Yao was startled, then remembered how he had held her against the wall earlier with just one arm.

He really was strong.

Xie Zongxun tossed the dog outside, closed the door, and glanced at Wen Yao, who was still sitting stunned on the bed. His expression darkened slightly.

Covered in dog saliva. Disgusting.

Just as Wen Yao finished thinking about his strength, she was lifted again. He slid one arm under her knees and effortlessly picked her up with one hand.

It felt a lot like how he had just carried the dog.

Afraid of falling, Wen Yao lightly gripped his arm to steady herself. “What are you doing?”

Xie Zongxun’s voice was flat. “The dog licked you.”

Wen Yao: “…”

Xie Zongxun carried her to the bathroom, pulled out a dry towel, and placed it on the vanity counter before setting Wen Yao down on it.

In this position, he would have to help her wash up. Xie Zongxun felt like he was creating trouble for himself.

He lifted her down again, his voice cold. “Wash yourself clean.”

Wen Yao cupped water and carefully washed her face. As she wiped her face in the mirror, she noticed Xie Zongxun still standing behind her.

She blinked. In the mirror, she barely reached his shoulders.

His physique was quite imposing, and his aura was cold.

That day, he had dressed so innocently—she thought he was well-behaved.

How annoying. She had saved some kind of scoundrel.

“I’m clean.”

Wen Yao set down the towel but didn’t move. She was practically trapped within Xie Zongxun’s embrace and didn’t dare to fidget.

The man behind her wrapped an arm around her waist and lifted her back onto the vanity counter.

Xie Zongxun’s expression was grim as he rubbed his thumb over Wen Yao’s swollen lips.

“Only I can touch here. Understand?”

Wen Yao instinctively explained, “But it’s just a dog.”

Xie Zongxun’s gaze remained cold. “If it were a person, they’d be dead in front of you right now.”

Wen Yao’s throat tightened. She felt Xie Zongxun wasn’t joking.

Before she could respond, Xie Zongxun lifted her chin and pressed his lips to hers.

He wasn’t in a hurry, kissing her slowly and deliberately.

Wen Yao tilted her face upward, her long eyelashes fluttering.

Xie Zongxun didn’t close his eyes, his stern gaze fixed on her face.

Wen Yao’s face grew increasingly flushed. Xie Zongxun briefly released her for a moment.

“Trying to suffocate yourself?”

He cupped her face and kissed her again, this time fiercely, leaving her no chance to catch her breath.Wen Yao couldn’t stand it anymore and forcefully pounded his chest to push him away.

He remained expressionless, while she wore a look of deep resentment.

Xie Zongxun stared at her badly swollen lips and reached out to gently touch them.

“After so many kisses just now, haven’t you learned yet?”

Wen Yao didn’t speak.

Xie Zongxun lifted her down, his low voice lingering in her ear.

“If you still haven’t learned to breathe properly next time, I won’t let go either.”

Wen Yao thought he was being utterly unreasonable—these things clearly required practice to learn.

And he forbade others from touching her or anything like that.

She replied discontentedly, “Then just let me suffocate.”

“Hmm? What?”

Wen Yao pursed her lips. “Nothing.”

Xie Zongxun didn’t say anything else. He took out his phone and held it up in front of Wen Yao.

“Add my contact. Respond to my messages immediately, understand?”

Wen Yao nodded. “Understood.”

“Change your clothes. I’ll take you back to school.”

Wen Yao glanced at the shopping bags—all in rather vibrant colors.

Bright yellow, deep blue, deep pink, and the like.

Wasn’t there anything more plain?

Seeing her hesitation, Xie Zongxun casually asked, “Don’t like them?”

Wen Yao replied, “The colors are too bright.”

Xie Zongxun’s voice turned slightly cold. “If you don’t wear them, go back naked.”

Seeing his limited patience, Wen Yao chose the deep blue waist-cinching dress to change into.

She was 168 cm tall, with a small frame, well-proportioned head-to-shoulder ratio, long legs and arms, and a toned figure—the type with curves in all the right places.

Her skin was very fair, and the dress made her appear even fairer. For the first time, Xie Zongxun felt his eyes were dazzled.

“Very beautiful.”

Wen Yao softly said thank you, then followed Xie Zongxun out the door.

Recalling it now, Xie Zongxun didn’t seem stingy with his compliments toward her.

Earlier on the bed, he had also praised her, saying, “Why is every part of you so pleasing?”

Xie Zongxun was nothing but a hypocritical lecher.

Still, someone with his qualities wouldn’t lack women. He was probably just seeking novelty, and she hoped he would grow bored soon.

She always felt Xie Zongxun was somewhat dangerous and didn’t want to get involved with him.

Wen Yao asked Xie Zongxun to park the car some distance away from the school. On the surface, she didn’t want to be associated with him.

Before getting out of the car, she said, “At school, let’s pretend we don’t know each other.”

Xie Zongxun lazily lifted his eyelids and asked, “Are we that close?”

Wen Yao fell silent. That was for the best.

Before closing the car door, Wen Yao seemed hesitant.

Xie Zongxun glanced at her. “Say what’s on your mind.”

Wen Yao looked somewhat uneasy, her eyelashes fluttering rapidly, her voice as faint as a mosquito’s hum. “D-do I need to buy emergency contraception?”

Xie Zongxun replied without changing his expression, “I used protection. No need.”

“We changed it a few times in between. Didn’t you notice?”

Wen Yao nodded woodenly, then quickly turned and ran off.

Xie Zongxun raised an eyebrow slightly, lowering his gaze with a quiet sigh. She really knew nothing at all.

Xie Zongxun wasn’t returning to school today, but he didn’t drive off immediately either. He simply watched Wen Yao’s retreating figure quietly.

His face showed no expression.

Before leaving, he sent a message to Xie Zhengwen.

[Dropped her off at school.]

Xie Zhengwen replied with an OK.

Then asked: [How is Yao Yao? I remember last seeing her was two years ago.]

It wasn’t surprising that Xie Zhengwen paid extra attention to Wen Yao.

She was the one who left the deepest impression on him in that batch of scholarship recipients.

She was well-behaved and polite, with an indescribable stubbornness, and exceptionally diligent and ambitious in her studies.During holidays, greetings were always exchanged, and they would send some things as well.

He greatly admired this quality in Wen Yao and would inquire more whenever possible.

Xie Zongxun thought for a moment before replying.

【Quite likable.】

It was rare for Xie Zhengwen to hear Xie Zongxun express such personal preferences.

In fact, his son was so reserved that he showed almost no emotion. Perhaps because he had lacked for nothing since childhood, he had no obvious preferences.

For him to say such a thing, Wen Yao must indeed be a very good young lady.

Xie Zhengwen: 【Next time when your mother and I come back, we’ll have a meal together.】

Xie Zongxun didn’t reply.

A few minutes later, as he was about to drive back, another message popped up on his phone.

It was from Wen Yao, whom he had just added not long ago—he hadn’t even had time to change her contact name.

Her profile picture was an illustration of a white camellia.

Wen Liuliu: 【I’ve arrived at the dormitory.】

Wen Yao sent the message to Xie Zongxun as soon as she sat down.

She wasn’t overthinking it—this was something her grandmother had taught her: whenever parting ways with someone, remember to let them know you’ve arrived safely.

She had been doing this for years, a small habit of hers.

After sitting down and thinking calmly, she felt it might be inappropriate and wanted to retract the message.

But a reply came from the other side.

Xie Zongxun’s profile picture was that golden retriever.

X: 【Okay.】
